STREET PROVIDENCE: REBUILDING LIVES IN MANIPUR

In a promising effort to rebuild the lives of riot-affected people in Manipur, a dedicated STREET PROVIDENCE team led by Mr. Bosco George, IPS (Retd.), and comprising our Trustee Adv. Caroline Collasso, Mr. Arturo D’Souza, Fr. Clifford Castellino and Mr. Joseph Fernandes, arrived in Imphal on the 21st of July, 2023.

The team visited Her Excellency Smt. Anusuiya Uikey, the esteemed Governor of Manipur, to apprise her of the commendable work carried out by Street Providence in
rehabilitating those affected by the recent unrest in Manipur.

During their meeting, the Honourable Governor of Manipur was briefed about the relief work undertaken and that aid amounting to Rupees 10 Lakhs worth of food grains and 2 Lakhs worth of medicines was despatched by STREET PROVIDENCE to be distributed in the relief camps in Manipur.

They shared with her their ambitious plans of starting FREE Shelter Homes in Manipur for homeless men and women and those suffering from Physical and mental Disabilities, similar to the Shelter Homes run by our NGO in Goa.

The team members expressed their gratitude to the Governor for her support and cooperation in their ongoing efforts to provide relief to the impoverished and needy people across Manipur.

The Honourable Governor, Anusuiya Uikey, acknowledged the team’s dedication and their impact on the ground. She expressed her admiration for the remarkable work carried out by Street Providence in such a short span of time and assured them of continued support from the state government.

Her Excellency reiterated the government’s commitment to work hand in hand with organizations like Street Providence to uplift the vulnerable sections of the society and foster an environment of growth and development.

With the backing of the government and the relentless determination of STREET PROVIDENCE, the future indeed appears promising for the riot-affected people of Manipur. The team’s spirit and dedication serve as a shining example for others, inspiring a collective movement towards a more compassionate and inclusive society.
