STREET PROVIDENCE, Sangolda Goa has started a FREE PSYCHIATRIC CLINIC for the mentally challenged homeless street people & our poor GOAN people.
The majority of the inmates in our Shelter Homes face mental problems in varying degrees of severity. This is largely due to the harsh conditions they have lived in, poor family support, alcohol or drug addictions and various psychological traumas such as emotional, physical or sexual abuse. This results in mood disorders, suicide related behaviour and an inability to take care of themselves.
Our care givers at the Shelter Homes have a trying time caring for them and ensuring their safety.
This firsthand experience is what led STREET PROVIDENCE to open this FREE Psychiatric Clinic.
Blessed to have a volunteer Doctor who is a PSYCHIATRIST and has volunteered his time free of cost to care for the poor people with mental illness.
Passion for the mentally ill and a desire to treat and heal the homeless people on the streets is the driving force of this Doctor.
The Clinic timings are as follows:
Saturday: North Goa Shelter Home inmates of STREET PROVIDENCE.
Sunday : South Goa Shelter Home inmates of STREET PROVIDENCE.
Tuesday and Thursday – from 6 pm to 9 pm: FREE consultations at STREET PROVIDENCE office at Sangolda, Goa.
Consultations are for those from very poor families who cannot afford the fees of a PSYCHIATRIST and strictly with an appointment only.
Please inform families surrounding SANGOLDA especially from Porvorim, Guirim, Saligao and Pilerne to avail of this free facility.
