22.7.2021 6pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA thanks , Goa Police @ Panjim station & @ Vasco station for helping us in HELPING THE HELPLESS get off the streets and into IPHB for treatment for the mind with Magistrate Order ( MO)
☆ Case 1
Young Goan man , approx 35 years, in very bad state.
Lost his mind and daily roaming round the city .
Not aggressive but just shouts and looks a bit frightening.
Panjim Police on Monday did a fantastic job by actually tracking him for close to 1 hour as he was not to be found.
For over 3 years I have seen him quite often especially 18th June road , Azad maidan and in front of Panjim Church.
With the rains not stopping , he was getting totally wet .
☆ Case 2
Middle aged lady originally from UP but moving around for many months in the city of Vasco.
Our volunteer Mr Hassan brought this my attention as well as the attention of Vasco Police.
Today, Vasco Police deputes their personal and she was picked up and admitted .
Very violent and abusive.
Both these people once treated will be taken by us to our homes for rehabilitation incase they don't have any family otherwise they will land up back on the streets.
Both cases we sent our car and driver to pick up these HELPLESS people and get them to the hospital supported by the Goa Police.
Takes a whole day but Worth the trouble.
There are many more out there in the rain , hungry , shunned , shouted at , looked down upon .
They need to get off the streets, to the IPHB for treatment and once treated need to be shifted to a home as most might or are homeless.
If you know any such homeless people in Goa who are suffering from mental illness and living on the streets of Goa and need help then please get in touch with our volunteers in the poster attached.
We will surely reach out to the HELPLESS.

THANKS ROTARY CLUB OF MAPUCA

18.7.2021 5pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA thanks Rotary Club of Mapuca , for providing free cataract operations to our homeless people in our homes.
Infact Rotary Club of Mapuca has been providing free cataract operations to the people from our rehabilitation homes for close to 3 years.
☆ 1. Mario Vaz a goan man was admitted close to 3 years ago and he is amputated in 1 leg and with very less vision in both eyes due to retina issues
Two years back we operated his one eye as there was a retina issue.
Yesterday , Mario Vaz got his other eye 1st operated for cataract which was taken care by Rotary Club of Mapuca and immediately that same eye was operated for the retina .
This retina operation costed Rs 40000 which was taken by a goan benefactor and we are grateful for the same.
☆ 2. Vilasini is a goan elderly lady having no family.
We got her a cataract eye operation as she could not see in that eye.
She stays in one of our women homes and is quite aged.
We as an NGO don't pick people from the streets but we look after them medically and physically attending to all their needs irrespective of the sickness.
It's at times very difficult especially like Mario Vaz , who was nearly blind in both eyes and amputated in 1 leg.
Some one has to look after these homeless people and we cheerfully most of the times rise up and accept such people.
If you believe the word COMPASSION & that you too would like to play your part as a volunteer , partner , supporter, collaborator , benefactor then you can get in touch with us through a whatsapp message only on 8380097564.

SUPPORTED BY GOA POLICE IS GOING ALL OUT TO HELP THE HELPLESS

17.7.2021 6pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA, supported by Goa Police is going all out to HELP THE HELPLESS ie homeless Men with mental illness, from the cities of Goa.
We have two such cases on Saturday.
Both admitted in IPHB with MO.
☆ Case 1
♡♡ Thanks to Rotary Club of Margao, for bringing to our attention a lady although our poster says men .
Picture attached.
This lady has been for months living on the streets of Margao, big build, having mind issues , other health issues in her leg , can't move much due to her weight.
Goa Police @ Margao, headed by Inspector Mr Narvekar , went out of his way and gave all the support by deputing 3 lady constables to assist in getting this lady to the IPHB @ Bambolim .
Since the lady was quite huge , aggressive and unco-operative , we requested for extra police support.
This lady was in the rain right across different parts of Margao city and anything serious could have happened to her .
♡♡ We thank all the members from
ROTARY CLUB OF MARGAO for showing COMPASION to this lady with mental issues.
☆ Case 2
This lonely goan boy , was staying in hut alone and it was brought to our attention.
Completely lost his mind, unclean environment, not eaten for many days, weak, quite & lonely.
We requested Goa Police @ Anjuna headed by Inspector Suraj Gawas to help.
Within few minutes 2 constables were sent and this boy was picked up and all the paperwork was done.
The hut is on the verge of collapse and we moved him out just in time.
Picture attached.
Both cases , admission done through MO by Goa Police into IPHB.
Both the people were having registration nos at IPHB which means they were not taking their medicines daily.
Once treated we will accept them into our rehabilitation homes.
Some requests and cases are very sad and upsetting.
But it's good that the Goa Police personal are HUMANE to support such people with mental illness as well as the IPHB for treating such people.
Both cases we sent our cars and drivers to transport these 2 people from their location to IPHB.
It's practically a whole day exercise.
We are determined to reach out to many people with mental illness in the 4 cities of Goa.

THANKS OUR BENEFACTOR G.O.A., VICTORIA , INC, AUSTRALIA,

16.7.2021 7pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA thanks our benefactor G.O.A., Victoria , Inc , Australia, for supporting us financially during the 2nd wave and helping 21 poor goan families with new plastic sheets during this current rains battering Goa.
Goan Overseas Associstion, ( G.O.A) , Victoria , Inc , Australia has been supporting us for close to 2 years .
♡♡ Thanks to Mr Gerard Lobo from G.O.A for being the link between the committee and us.
This year too we received their donation.
The donation was used for these 2 purposes benefitting our poor families:
1. Today we have ordered plastic sheets to cover 21 homes in 3 areas of rural Goa where poor goans whose roofs are devastated due to the torrential rains needed temporary relief.
As Mr Akash Pednekar & his team have been distributing dry ration for June 21 in Curchorem, Sanguem & Quepem areas they came across various poor families badly in need of plastic sheets.
Mr Akash & his team identified all 3 communities in equal nos & In equal areas.
☆ 7 Catholic families
☆ 7 Hindu families
☆ 7 Muslim families

☆ Curchorem 7 families
☆ Sanguem 7 families
☆ Quepem 7 families.
We have committed and confirmed the orders for 21 such families, ranging between 20 Mtrs to 25 Mtrs plus rope per home, to tie the plastic sheets.
2. In June 21 , we had volunteered to provide free meals to those poor people who were tested positive and we provided approx 800 such meals to various families from Navtara group of restaurants.
For July 21 to we are still accepting registration for free meals for those affected with Covid.
Both these bills have been paid from the donation received from Goan Overseas Associstion, ( G.O.A) , Victoria , Inc , Australia and we are thankful for the support.
Daily we are providing various free services across Goa , in the fight against hunger & homelessness and such services are only possible due to generous benefactors and their donations .
Lots of poor Goan families across rural Goa in need of help and we are grateful to Mr Akash Pednekar and his boys for their time, effort & commitment in reaching out to those in rural Goa across these 3 areas.
Volunteers are our backbone & mostly all our projects are through Volunteers and we thank God for each of these volunteers who silently play their part In the service of the poor and needy.
If you wish to contribute to providing plastic sheets as there are still more poor goan families asking for help during this monsoon then please let me know.
You can even give us the plastic sheets and rope.
Support us in whatever way you can.
Donate generously to our NGO.
We offer you 50% exemption under 80G on your donations.
Donations only through cheque /NEFT along with your pan card copy .

REQUIRES YOUR HELP TO ” HELP Us HELP THE HELPLESS ” ON THE STREETS

14.7.2021 6pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA requires your help to ” Help Us Help The Helpless ” on the streets, priority and initially in the 4 main cities of Goa.
And the Helpless are those who have lost their mind, the men who roam around endlessly.
In short, Men with mental illness .
There are 3 types of people who live on the streets :
▪︎ Homeless
▪︎ Beggars
▪︎ People with disabilities ( lost their mind ).
We are initially working in these four cities / municipality of Goa only :
☆ Mapusa
☆ Panjim
☆ Vasco
☆ Margao
For homeless people with MENTAL ILLNESS only,  supported by Goa Police.
( will later expand to other places in Goa )
We don't pick beggars and at the moment we are not accepting homeless people on the streets,  as our houses are full .
Now why Goa Police ?
Helping the helpless is not easy as I write this post.
Since most of them are suffering from many years on the streets, there is a procedure which only the police can implement through a Magistrate Order.
This is how the system works 👇 :
☆ 1. In the 4 cities if you notice such homeless men with mental illness please call our volunteer whose number is mentioned for the respective city in the attached poster.
( pls try to avoid calling me, only whatsapp)
☆ 2. Once our volunteer verifies that the homeless person is having mental illness, he will go to the local police station .
☆ 3. Our volunteer will fix an appointment with the local police and our van with an attendant will reach the station .
☆ 4. This Van of ours will reach early 9am to the station, two constables will be deputed and the homeless man with mental issues will be picked up.
Only one man per day per trip.
☆ 5. First covid test and basic check up .
☆ 6. Then getting the MO from the respective magistrate which needs to be before 1 pm.
☆ 7. Proceed to IPHB who then refers to GMC for check up if any complications.
☆ 8. All check up once done , drop back to IPHB & admitt into IPHB
☆ 9. Then drop back the Constables to the respective police station.
Whole day is finished in the above exercise.
☆ 10 . Once treated say in 4 to 6 months, police will discharge and we will accept with the disability certificate into our homes.
Since it's a whole day affair, most police stations can't send their car so we will be using our NGO car at our cost as we are keen to HELP THE HELPLESS.
Q. Why was this not done consistently earlier by the police?
A. Because once discharged, they are again on the streets as there are no such designated Government homes to house such men with mental illness, who will be cared for and given their daily medicines , so why will any one want to waste time in picking them up .
But that will change soon .
We @ Street Providence are officially recognized by the Social Welfare Dept Goa & we are registered under Section 51 of The Rights of Person With Disabilities Act, 2016 to look after such HELPLESS people and we are offering free services.
We have been picking up such men and women with mental illness over the last 4 years with the support of the Goa Police but with the pandemic on , the number of such cases are rising & rising fast and we would like to help as many as possible.
It's not an easy task neither a pleasant service besides there are huge costs involved right from day one.
Today in India , 1 out of every 7 suffers from mental Illness.
Our 4 years of service on the streets of Goa ,(with over 400 people being picked up ) has taught us and we have alot of practical hands on experiences dealing with people with disabilities.
We as an NGO work for the HELPLESS and alot of men who were once suffering from mental illness over the last 4 years are recovering & have recovered, but have no place to go and so are now working with us to help the others who are suffering with the same mental illness.
There is a solution to mental illness and that Is medication, love, care , compassion , etc .
Please help us in any way you can.
Forward this post and the poster togther to people staying in the 4 main cities of Goa .
God bless you

LAST YEAR , (SAME DATE) GETS OFF THE STREETS OF GOA , 2 YOUNG CHILDREN

12.7.2021 7pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA last year , (same date) gets off the streets of Goa , 2 young children , Lovely and Pretty ( named changed) who were with their grandfather for many many days in a bus stop all cold, wet , & hungry .
Today we tell you how things have changed for them in just 1 year.
Attached a 1 min video and a picture when we were alerted about them last year. 👇
Their true life story.
Last year 1st wave , total lockdown & heavy rain.
Father died due to alcohol.
Mother till June 10th 2020 , was in Gmc admitted and ultimately died in Gmc.
During their stay with their mother in Gmc , both these children would be seen begging to survive outside GMC.
After the cremation of their mother, they were thrown out wherever they were staying as their immediate or close family could not afford to feed them.
They were staying in a old bus stop in Bicholim for many days.
Their plight caught many many people attention but not sure what the outcome was.
We too were informed.
On 11.7.2020 , a young lady who is also is a bank manager in a leading pvt bank called me up and requested to pls help as it was her birthday and for quite a few days she was providing them meals.
We explained the procedure.
She approached the then local Police Inspector, Mr Sanjay Dalvi , who also got in touch with us and assured all help to get the children and their grandfather off the streets into our homes .
Adv Caroline & Sapnesh both drove to the spot , Adv Caroline got the children into warmer clothes and comforted the children.
All this took about 4 hours.
That day 11.7.2020 the rain was really bad just like it is raining today 12.7.2021.
Anyway, the police reached our home by
9 pm and we immediately kept the children in a children shelter home and the grandfather with us.
The children were cold , hungry , traumatized, upset, lonely etc.
The pandemic was so scary last year that we did not want to take any chances so the children stayed there till Oct 2020 without moving out .
Thanks to CWC ( North Goa ) for understanding the difficult scenario and all the support , these children were OFFICIALLY admitted to a recognized FOSTER CARE HOME for children with all paperwork and documentation.
Today I can be PROUD & I thank GOD for all in this sequence :
♡ 1. The lady bank manager
♡ 2. Goa Police @ Bicholim Police Station
♡ 3. Adv Caroline
♡ 4. Sapnesh Salgaonkar
♡ 5. The convent which opened their doors for 4 months during the 1st wave
♡ 6. Orlando Mesquita who was the only link between the convent & us for 4 months
♡ 7. The old committee of CWC ( North Goa )
♡ 8. The FOSTER parents @ The FOSTER CARE HOME.
Lovely & Pretty today :

☆ 1. Go to a reputed school ( online classes )
☆ 2. They are learning music & other hobbies
☆ 3. They are having a tutor to brush them up.
Look at the picture 1 year back and the short video of both of them playing the organ today .
It's amazing and a dream come through for these once upon a time abandoned children in a bus stop.
I thank God for giving our NGO an opportunity to help these poor children last year .
But inspite of all the troubles, the children today have lived up to everyone expectations & I feel all the trouble, stress, summons, etc has brought good fruit.
♡♡ A big big thanks to the FOSTER CARE HOME & THE LOVELY YOUNG COUPLE who are doing a fantastic job with a total of 11 other children .
If you see such homeless children, please stop by and call the local police and follow up till that children are moved to safety .
Or get in touch with me through whstsapp only on 8380097564and I will try to help out with such cases.
Once again let's all give & live with COMPASSION especially to those who are homeless and on the streets.
God bless you all

TODAY GETS OFF THE STREETS OF PANJIM , A YOUNG HOMELESS MAN SUFFERING FROM HIV & CANCER

10.7.21 7pm IST

STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST, GOA , today gets off the streets of Panjim , a young homeless man suffering from HIV & CANCER as told to our team by him.
A few days we were informed about this man aged about 40 years, suffering from HIV & CANCER , that he is badly in need of a place to stay as his health is deteriorating.
Infact last week he went to pick his HIV medicines from the ART center at Gmc and he was provided the same.
Dirty clothes, very sick, sleeping in the panjim bus stop or at the temple and desperate for help.
We requested Mahesh , from an NGO called Zindagi , who works for HIV infected in Goa for many many years now to investigate into this matter.
♡♡ Mahesh Govekar , from an NGO called Zindagi is and has been sincerely working in Goa for the HIV infected without much noise for many many years.
Mahesh made two visits to the bus stop and confirmed that this man needs help badly.
Today with the help of Mahesh , Panjim police & out team, we picked up this man and took him for a covid test to Chicalim Health Centre .
Covid tests results were negative and later we admitted him into our home for HIV men .
Difficult, risky, complicated and delicate service to offer while picking up an homeless who is HIV & CANCER affected , but some one needs to offer help to such homeless and sick people.
We fit the bill .
Few days rest for him and then trips to hospitals and doctors to understand what cancer he is suffering from.
Thanks to all who took interest in this homeless man , we were able to rehabilitate him .
There are many many such homeless men out there in the cities of Goa , looking for shelter as they have lost basic jobs due to the pandemic .
Feel sad , but space is a constraint as we are over loaded.
We are trying our level best daily to find a big place to rehabilitate many homeless men.
That does not stop us from reaching out to the homeless in Goa.
If you know any old abandoned or run down Government building not In residential area , please let me know.
We can approach the government to allow us to use such premises otherwise the homeless will be out there.
Through my visits and trips across the major cities of Goa , I understand that there are close to 500+ homeless just having no place to go .
No one is concerned about these homeless as I understand that they have no voting rights.
Compassion is what we give to the homeless and sick.
And majority of these homeless can never help us in any way and we too expect nothing from them as we are providing AGAPE to them .
We pick from hospitals, police stations, streets, etc all types of homeless , sick and people with disabilities who have no place to go and rehabilitate and care for them.
We require your support and help to reach out to them .
Support us in whatever way you can.
Donate generously to our NGO.

REQUIRES YOUR HELP TO PAY FOR THE MEDICAL EXPENSES OF THIS POOR GOAN MAN

9.7.2021 7pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA requires your help to pay for the medical expenses of this poor goan man , Mr Fernandes , from Sanguem , suffering from a Tumor in his chest.
One of our volunteers, Mr Akash from Curchorem, while distributing dry ration early in the month of June 21, came across this poor Goan family , aged 40 years, where in the man is suffering from a Tumor in his chest.
Since they are poor and not much educated, they were not sure how to go about the same.
For many weeks they were trying to raise the resources but not much success.
A reputed private hospital, agreed to perform the surgery but that was costing Rs 2 lacs .
Mr Akash requested me to help.
I went through all the medical papers and took a second opinion at GMC .
Gmc suggested radiation for 10 days at Manipal Hospital which is covered under the DSSY scheme .
But still they had to pay Rs 6500 which we paid.
Now covering the distance from interior Sanguem to Manipal is about 70 kms one way and the gentleman is too weak to move in a public bus plus the pandemic.
I understand after 30 min radiation, he requires to rest.
In which public transport can this poor goan man rest?
Then the 2nd option was to hire a taxi up and down, ie from Sanguem to Manipal & back , but the roads are not in good condition and he will ultimately get tired.
So the only Solution was to accommodate him in some small accommodation as our shelter home is not suited for such emergencies.
Every day our van takes him for radiation and brings him back.
We are over stretched with our homeless street people in our homes, but yet we went ahead with helping this man.
Helping this man was never going to be easy and I ended up in many issues but we are determined to see that we can play a small part during his time of pain and sickness.
We even hired an additional driver to take care of this man's medical issues.
We have taken the responsibility of his accommodation, transport and food for 12 days.
Once we finish this radiation course he will be referred back to GMC for further course of action and may be surgery.
We assured his wife that we will try our level best to assist them in all possible ways during these difficult times.
Like this gentleman, there have been many such cases from Sanguem , Curchorem, Quepem, brought to our attention by
Mr Akash, of poor goan people, who required medical help and we have provided the best and the little we could.
We will upload this man picture and video once he is treated at Gmc .
Please help us to help this poor goan man as he fights the tumor in his body.
All support is welcome and appreciated.
If you believe the word COMPASSION & that you too would like to play your part as a volunteer , partner , supporter, collaborator , benefactor then u can get in touch with us through a whatsapp message only on 8380097564.

Live From The Field

8.7.2021 5pm IST
FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR, SANGOLDA, GOA , has been feeding hundreds if not a few thousand families, dry ration during this 2nd wave across Goa only .
We will be presenting you our different, trusted and hardworking volunteers who have been working quietly for last many years and more specifically in the last 2 months.
Today we travel to CANACONA taluka and our volunteer is Mrs Sharon and her silent husband.
You must watch the 2 min video. 👇
Attached a poster covering the 61 families in CANACONA taluka for dry ration.
Sharon and Street Providence goes back to Aug 2018 , during the Kerala Flood relief when we managed to collect Rs 1.5 crore relief and send 13 trucks to Kerala.
♡♡ Sharon was our point in CANACONA.
Sharon identified about 25 poor goan families right through the 1st lockdown and from Dec 2020 we were giving her dry ration kits for these families.
In May 21 , during the 2nd wave we increased these to 50 families and for june 21, we gave out 61 dry ration kits .
Sharon , her husband and kids physically pack these ration in their small garment shop in CANACONA market and then some are physically moved out to the far flung areas by them in their own car, while the near by families come over to the shop to pick.
Not an easy and cheap task as Covering Canacona Taluka from Agonda to Galjibag must be one way min 20 kms.
Sharon once took me along and we encountered very poor and financially backward families.
Most are old , lonely, unemployed and all were sick with some sort of sickness and ailment.
Initially we decided to provide dry ration which we are providing but medicines are also required on a monthly basis.
If there are any Goan associations abroad from CANACONA taluka please help us to help our own poor Goan families.
Both communities are helped in equal ratio.
Alot of old and lonely people require transport to go either to District Hospital Margao or GMC Bambolim and we are working on a long term solution to this demand.
Sharon has a complete list of these 61 families and its increasing and if you can join in both as a volunteer and benefactor, please let me know.
I can say with confidence that Sharon & her husband are doing the best they can, without any grumble or murmur especially during the rains as distribution is not easy as the car at times does not reach the door step.
It's been a wonderful experience working with so many volunteers in different areas over the last few years and Sharon and her husband are one of these volunteers.
If you would like to support us for july 2021, send me a whatsapp on 8380097564

FINALLY MANAGES TO GET THIS HOMELESS MAN SAMBHAJI , COMPLETELY TREATED AT GMC .

6.7.2021 7pm
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST, GOA finally manages to get this homeless man Sambhaji , completely treated at GMC .
On 4.6.2021 we had picked him up from the subway of GMC 👇 read below and see how he looked that day.
This is sambhaji story in short
☆ 1. Full May 21 roaming around endlessly in panjim city without disturbing anyone in terrible pain in his groin.
☆ 2. May 24th admitted in GMC by some good Samaritans.
☆ 3. Within a few days he is spotted in the subway of Gmc in pathetic condition
☆ 4. June 4th we pick him from the subway and take him to our home.
We try to stabilize him but we are unable to.
☆ 5. June 7th we re-admitted him into Gmc all cleaned up into ward no 120.
☆ 6. On June 10th late night , he was absconding as per his case paper from that ward.
☆ 7 . June 12th we searched him and found him in the vicinity of GMC and re-admitted him after all the same procedure and paperwork in Ward 115.
☆ 8. On July 5th July we finally discharged him and took him to our shelter home.
This old man gave our team alot of trouble but our commitment can't be stopped.
♡♡ Big thanks to all the Doctors & Nurses at GMC for providing fantastic service to this homeless man and saving his life .
♡♡ Big thanks to Wilson Rodrigues from panjim and his friend Kenny , who on 25th May picked Sambhaji from the streets of Panjim and took him till the casualty ward of Gmc.
Once we take a homeless person into our home we will treat him like family till he dies.
Attached a 2 min video of sambhaji from may 24th to July 5th. 👇
Q. What was Sambaji treated for?
Ans .Shambaji after being picked up was found to have multiple complications.
His heart was not pumping blood properly and excess fluid was lagged all over the body ,so much so that the fluid blocked blood supply to one of his toes which became gangrenous .
The toxins released from gangrene worsened his heart failure and it was vicious circle.
Doctors treated his infection with high IVv antibiotics and and removed the excess fluid in body to the reduce the work on heart, and after a tough battle he survived.
Conclusion:
That's why you can see how much weight Sambhaji has lost in the last 45 days .
We were all shocked to see him all reduced in weight when he was discharged on 5th July 21.
We offer you 50% exemption under 80G on your donations.
Donations only through cheque /NEFT along with your pan card copy .
