SENIOR HOMELESS CITIZEN MR BAHADUR a NEPALI LOST AND LONELY IN GOA .

28.7.2022. 7pm IST
From being crawling on the streets for over 6 months before we picked him up ,  to being on a wheel chair for 3 months, to being able to stand slightly after another 6 months, to now being a full fledged gardener is not an easy task for this senior homeless citizen Mr Bahadur a Nepali lost and lonely in Goa .
♡♡♡ Thanks to our in house Physio therapy sessions @ Dr Gail and Mrs Ditosa Memorial Medical Clinic , Sangolda,  where  Dr Ashton is  treating alot of our homeless street men, the change is there to present to the world.
Bahadur was totally a wreck in Jan 2021.
Could not stand , no control over his toilet habits,
Crazy in his mind , irritating and stubborn but yet the team took care of him .
Lots of trouble in those early few months .
Some where in Nov 21, he decided to go back to the streets is when I had a hard and loud talk which convinced him that his future is bright in our shelter Home.
I could literally see him back on the streets begging and loitering if I had let him go that day .
That talk opened his eyes to reality and from early Jan 22 he has been doing a wonderful job at our Assnora home which is all rock and stone .
He actually would sit for hours doing up the landscape and the garden inspite of it being  rocky and hard rocks.
For more than over a month he has been brought 3 times a week for Physiotherapy to our Clinic at Sangolda and that has worked wonders for him .
Last few days he is at my place in Sangolda doing up my garden and I really can't imagine that this old dirty crawling man has transformed into such a handsome,  strong old man full of life and motivation.
He teaches alot of other men suffering from disabilities how to detoxify in the garden by doing gardening.
And that is very healthy and natural, ie putting your hands in soil while gardening.
Talks absolutely little but does great work @ 70 years age which is difficult to believe and beat .
I can't express how joyful it is to see the fruits of our service to the homeless In Goa .
It's amazing and satisfying that one elderly crawling abandoned alcoholic man who refused to get off the streets today is totally transformed with just one loud shout and some tough talk .
We walk the talk no matter how severe the person medical condition is at the time of admission.
95% time we succeed in getting the best out of these homeless abandoned people.
This has been possible due to the benefactors who month after month,  year after year have been blessings us .
An very complicated, expensive and round the clock service but the results are sure shot and achievable.

WE ACCEPTED INTO OUR HOME a GOAN ELDERLY LADY AGED 70 YEARS

24.7.2022.  7pm IST
Today we celebrate the second world day for grandparents & the elderly.
The theme for this year’s World Day is “In old age they will still bear fruit” (Psalm 92:15) and emphasizes how grandparents and the elderly are a value and a gift both for society and for communities.
But what about the grandparents & the elderly who actually have no grandchildren around  & are  abandoned by their own children & are just absolutely lonely in this world with no roof, no food and no one to even talk too.
Few days back, we accepted into our home a goan elderly lady aged 70 years who is a grand parent but just left to fend all alone .
Orphaned at a very early age and never ever received love from her parents.
Settled down in life,  but again no peace of mind .
Worked all her life but her only son abandoned her and went abroad.
At 70 years she has been putting in her best to work but the damages are too much both in mind and body.
She has been trying her level best to get a free home to stay but no one actually understood her.
Finally she got in touch with us and we took her in and assured her that till she leaves this planet she will be looked aftered and cared for .
You and I together can be a Child or a grandchild to such elderly people who are homeless and in need of a free place to stay.
One thing I have observed and understood although I am very impatient and very straight forward ie The prayers and blessings of the elderly and abandoned are very effective.
God surely must be hearing their prayers .
If there are such lonely & abandoned  Goan grandparents looking for free shelter and are really poor please let's help them .
Celebrating on paper Grandparents & elderly day without actually helping such oldies is not exciting.
We need to walk the talk and not just ignore.
Both our women homes are overloaded but we can always adjust , squeeze, accommodate if the need arises .
Starting soon another two such free women homes for the poor abandoned homeless street women which can take in another 30 ladies.
Please support our NGO.
You get 50% deduction / rebate under section 80G of the INCOME TAX act, once you donate to our NGO.

THANKS THE INSPECTOR @ CURCHOREM POLICE STATION FOR ATTENDING TO A REQUEST TO REHABILITATE THIS LADY ALL WITHIN FLAT 5 HOURS.

22.7.2022. 8 pm IST
Divorced, orphaned, homeless, suffering from mental disabilities & rejected by own family for not being able to bear a child is how I can describe this poor goan middle aged lady
Street Providence thanks the Inspector @ Curchorem Police Station for attending to a request to rehabilitate this lady all within flat
5 hours.
Inspector Mr Vaibhav @ Curchorem Police station is informed about this homeless goan lady staying and sleeping for a few weeks in public places and informs me at 5pm if we can rehabilitate.
It's a straight YES and the paperwork and basic medical is done by 7pm .
Now it's Curchorem to Sangolda .
Since it going to be quite a distance to both ie
if we go to pick her from Curchorem or if the police drop her to sangolda , we decide mid point at Agassiam.
At 8pm Curchorem Police leave from there and Sapnesh & a lady caregiver leave from Porvorim.
9 pm Approx the handover is done and the lady is really stressed and tired.
By 10 pm Sapnesh, lady caregiver and this homeless lady reach the shelter home.
Usually no one accepts admissions after 7pm but rules are meant to be broken as the lady is homeless.
The homeless lady freshnes up , eats a meal and sleeps like a log .
Today at 6 pm she opens up about her life and is pretty sad and depressing what she went thru after being married for 12 years and now being divorced for 5 years .
The saving grace Is she is taking her psychiatric medicines daily which is why she is within repairs and will be stable within a month time .
The damages are not medium or severe but mild but will get her check up done on Monday at the IPHB to be sure regarding her medication.
She has gone through something which only a few can understand and visualize.
Inspite of both our ladies Home being full with close to 32 such homeless women suffering from mental & physical disabilities, we yet are able to accommodate her at this point of time.
We are shortly starting , 2 more free rehabilitation shelter homes for another 30  homeless women, as I am aware that there are many ladies out there in Goa looking for help .
Once again we need to appreciate Mr Vaibhav for showing compassion and attending to the complaint and making that call to us requesting to rehabilitate this middle aged goan woman .
Please support our NGO.
You get 50% deduction / rebate under section 80G of the INCOME TAX act, once you donate to our NGO.
We accept only CHEQUES / NEFT with your pan card copy .

GETS OFF THE WET RAINY STREETS AN ELDERLY KONKANI SPEAKING MAN WITH A FRESH WOUNDED LEG .

13.7.2022  7pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA responds quickly to a request from Mrs Chryselle Dias , who stays in Casa da Moeda ( Mint House ) opp head post office Panjim and gets off the wet rainy streets an elderly konkani speaking man with a fresh wounded leg .
Mohan Naik is from UK ( Uttar kannada ) and has been rejected by his family making him beg, work and live on the streets of panjim below the building of Casa da Moeda.
Mrs Chryselle saw his plight and suffering, which is an exposed wound which is fresh on his leg and requested me to help,  strictly through whatsapp.
Mrs Chryselle followed the instructions through whatsapp and flat within 24 hours we got this man into our home.
☆☆We appreciate Mrs Chryselle for knowing who  her neighbour is
♡♡♡ Thanks to our rescue team ie Sapnesh, Eric & Douglas for the smooth co ordination and effort in getting the man off the streets supported by the Goa Police @ Panjim Police Station.
This is how things should go about .
If instructions are followed, if the complainant has a little patience , if there is compassion to help the homeless then it makes the rescue very easy and quick and we too feel happy to respond.
We can't just go on following up on a picture which at times fellow samaritans click and send and give excuses example ” I was in a bus and saw this person on the streets” , etc.
Pretty big and deep wound on Mohan Naik leg and if not treated in time could have even made him amputate his leg .
Daily dressings is required at the Government hospital which means our Ambulance has to go to the assnora home from Porvorim, pick Mohan, get him to District Hospital Mapusa, stand at the OPD till the turn comes, do the dressing and drop him back to Assnora home before heading to Porvorim.
Half day gone just on this procedure but we have to do it .
Takes time, driver + assistant and diesel.
This rains are non stop in Goa and am aware that there are many such homeless intending to get off the streets but we just can't reach them until people like Mrs Chryselle inform us that the homeless are looking for shelter.
We need many like Mrs Chryselle to scout and look out for the elderly and sick homeless
( priorty ) on the streets of Goa and co ordinate with us to get them a warm bed , medication and food on a plate.
We can togther eradicate the Homelessness in Goa .
Please support our NGO.

WAS REQUESTED TO HELP THIS MAN SIDDHU DAS WHO WAS JUST LYING ON THE STREETS OF PANJIM

10.7.2022  5 pm IST
Love thy neighbor.  But who is thy neighbor ?
Exactly 4 months ago, Street Providence was requested to help this man Siddhu Das who was just lying on the streets of panjim for over 2 months.
This is the original link ,  4 months ago when we picked him along with another man 👎
Siddhu Das was unable to move , was living in dirt , unable to get up.
In his words ” waiting to die “.  Hear his video it's in hindi . 👇
Would drink alcohol daily which made him in the state you see him earlier.
We took him in, cleant him and got him medically examined, started his medication and slowly he was made to believe that he will live a long life but he has to work towards his recovery.
Daily his legs were massaged with oil by another homeless man who was like him in the same condition.
Siddhu suddenly developed a liking to live and showed the commitment to respond to the treatment.
Last 3 weeks he has been brought every alternate day to our Physiotherapy sessions at Sangolda and that has hastened his recovery.
His muscles and veins had been totally destroyed by alcohol which resulted in him being unable to stand and walk .
After his detoxification, total no alcohol, nutritious food , medication, massage and now Physiotherapy, I can say he is 90% fit .
He had really given up his willingness to live when he was on the streets for those 2 months and today he is grateful that he has another chance to live .
Once fully recovered, he will stay back and work for two years, helping the others who will be coming in like him to recover in our shelter Home
It's was not easy stabilizing Siddhu in the 1st few days due to his alcohol and muscles issues,  but in the last 5 years our NGO staff has acquired the art of looking after homeless street people with mental disabilities as well as chronic alcohol related issues with complete ease .
This is my neighbour & your neighbour
( for those who heard today Sunday reading )
Just 4 months back Siddhu had to be lifted from the streets on a stretcher and brought to our home,  but today standing straight and walking just perfectly fine .
Most of the time , admissions like Siddhu case reaches a state of complete recovery both in the mind and in the body.
95 % we have been successful in handling such extreme cases of immobility to complete recovery.
With additional ammunition in the form of our New Physiotherapy centre, we are sure to get help to many many such cases in a lesser amount of time .
The best part of our REHABILITATION program is ” recovered homeless men stay back as a sign of gratitude to help those who require help ”
Please support our NGO.
You get 50% deduction / rebate under section 80G of the INCOME TAX act, once you donate to our NGO.
We accept only CHEQUES / NEFT with your pan card copy .

GETS THIS HOMELESS INJURED MAN Mr HEMANT BADLANI OFF THE STREETS OF FATORDA GOA..

7.7.2022  8pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA , supported by quick response of Goa Police @ Fatorda Police Station gets this homeless injured man Mr Hemant Badlani off the streets of Fatorda Goa..
Hemanat Badlani about 60 years , has a broken hand and was discharged from the District hospital last week and was on the streets.
Same time the robbery happened at the church In margao city.
Naturally homeless will be targeted and pressurized to move some where else.
But there is no SOMEWHERE else on the streets and that too in this non stop rain .
To Hemant blessings he reached the home of Adelino Lourdes Fernandes who is the owner of Lorenzo Photo Studio, looking for food.
Mr. Adelino Lourdes Fernandes saw that Hemant was actually lost and was hungry for a meal which he gave him and inquired if he requires a place to stay which Hemant Said yes .
Mr. Adelino Lourdes Fernandes called me and followed the instructions.
Within 5 min Fatorda Police reached the home of Mr  Adelino Lourdes Fernandes & picked up Hemant and took him to the police station. ..
PSI Mr Yogesh Gaonkar from Fatorda Police Station contacted me and we agreed to shelter  him .
Infact PSI Yogesh was keen to see that this homeless man got a roof over his head.
But on getting his basic medical examination done , it was observed that his parameters were not conducise to admit in the shelter home and so for 3 days he was re admitted into the hospital
Yesterday he was discharged and our Volunteer John Baptist picked him up and admitted him into our shelter home.
Just incase any one knows him or his family .
Says he is from Worli , Mumbai .
In pain and in alot of stress which is understandable. Can't speak clearly .
One kind elderly goan gentleman Mr Adelino Lourdes Fernandes's few minutes concern for Hemant was enough to get him off the streets of Goa in this non stop rain.
There are many many such homeless stuck up on the streets in this non stop rain .
You reading this post can help us to help them get to our shelter homes which are across Goa .
A few minutes , along with your willingness to follow our instructions and a supportive Goa Police is all that is required to get us to shelter the homeless In Goa .
We just can't be available all the time on the streets physically lifting homeless.
We have Goa Police @ many Police stations ready to help the homeless to get off the streets.
You , we & Society together can work together provided there is willingness to help those on the streets.
Please support our NGO generously.
You get 50% rebate / deduction under section 80G of the INCOME TAX act, once you donate to our NGO.

HAS BEEN HELPING PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES ( PWDs) IN ENTIRE GOA TO ACQUIRE THEIR DISABILITY CERTIFICATES FOR FRE

5.7.2022. 7pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA has been helping Persons with Disabilities ( PWDs) in entire Goa to acquire their Disability Certificates for FREE as well as their UDID Cards in the last 4 months .
♡♡♡ Thanks to an generous goan gentleman for taking care of all the expenses involved in this project and reimbursing the costs monthly.
Today with great satisfaction we added and we were successful in generating 101 UDID Cards for these people without charging a single rupee from the persons with disabilities.
Our field officers,  back office staff , drivers and operation manager did a wonderful job of covering 300 families across 11 talukas and :
☆ went door to door filing up forms,
☆ rectifying forms,
☆ Uploading details on the portal ,
☆ Taking an assessment appointment when required,
☆ Driving those who could not make it to the nearest hospital for their assessment,
☆ Picking up their Disability Certifcate,
uploading the Certifcate on the portal ,
☆ And finally getting them their UDID CARD
I had seen this issue a couple of months back where thousands of PWDs were unable to generate their UDID card due to genuine reasons and decided to start the service through our NGO.
Whatever service our NGO undertakes,  its always a project what has never been done before and we do it consistently .
With the rains in full swing we have down sized the services as the field work is over and now most of the PWDs require an assessment at the IPHB to acquire their Disability Certifcate & UDID CARD .
♡♡♡ Big thanks to a lot of Government officials at the welfare department and back office staff &   Doctors at the :
☆ District Hospital Mapusa,
☆ District Hospital Margao
☆ IPHB & GMC.
who without their guidance and support this project would not have reached this far in just 4 months which included the hot summer and the raining month of June .
Of the 300 PWDs we had approached :
☆ 101 have got their UDID CARDS
☆ 38 have got their Disability Certifcate
☆ 96 PWDs are yet to get their assessment done and are awaiting their appointment.
A complete chart attached with this post .
It's about 80% strike rate and that's a plus point for our NGO .
The project cost was Rs 12 lacs + but we at the moment have kept the expenses as of date at under Rs 4 lacs .
Once again we reiterate that never go by what social media says especially on this topic where alot of genuine citizens called me on 27.3.2022 and asked / inquired/ gossiped / accused me of charging Rs 4000 from poor PWDs to make the UDID Card.
Not an easy project at all .
Lots of co ordination, back office communications , logistics,  planning and networking.
Easy to spoil and accuse our NGO .
But very difficult to implement and run such a project which is non government funded.
God bless you all
Donald Fernandes

STARTED ( a soft launch for) PHYSIOTHERAPY SESSIONS, FREE OF COST FOR HOMELESS STREET PEOPLE

2.7.2022. 8 PM IST
The Dr.Gail and Mrs. Ditosa Memorial Medical Clinic,  Sangolda @ Street Providence Goa  started ( a soft launch for) Physiotherapy sessions, FREE of Cost for homeless street people under the guidance of Dr Ashton last 15 days.
Despite the incessant downpour, the Physiotherapy sessions were conducted  for 2 hours a day and 40 inmates were examined and a treatment plan for each inmates was put in place. This included hands on treatment and rehabilitation exercises to be done at home.
Homeless street people being subject to malnutrition, substance abuse and rejection  suffer from serious mental illness in addition to  debilitating physical disabilities.
Patients suffer from the following medical conditions:-
☆ Low back pain
☆ Osteoarthritis of the  knee
☆ Frozen shoulder
☆ Joint stiffness
☆ Trapezitis
Neurological conditions exist like :-
☆ Hemiplegia,
☆ Hemiperesis post stroke,
☆ Acquired demyelinating Syndrome,
☆ Diabetic neuropathy etc .
Presently the Physiotherapist bring along their own basic equipment. We are awaiting the delivery of basic new equipment that has been ordered .
From amongst the patients requiring physiotherapy, a couple of men are unable to walk properly and need to be brought on  wheelchairs  to the Centre.
But we believe that with the combined treatment of  Physiotherapy and exercise done daily at home, they will be able to use their limbs soon.
The health condition of the female patients is a bit more complicated. Most of them are above 45 years of age  with severe pain in their bones and joint, in addition to mental illness.
Our NGO strives to walk the extra mile ……. we  not only rehabilitate the street people but also ensure a holistic approach that considers their physical, emotional, social and spiritual well being.
We strive to provide them  the best health facilities like we do for ourselves and our family members.
Last year at this time,  I was in severe pain and dependent on a  high dosage of expensive pain killers to get me through the day.
I tried out treatment at many Physiotherapy Centres.
Finally, Dr Ashton the Physiotherapist, was the man who fixed the issues permanently.
The hands on  treatment  and exercise plan provided by Dr Ashton  for two months  helped me recover.
I realised that like me  there must be  many such homeless people in our shelter homes in pain and dependent on pain killers.
That's when  this  DREAM of our own PHYSIOTHERAPY CENTER took shape , and today this centre has manifested thanks to The ALMIGHTY who inspired a kind hearted  Goan gentleman to  fund the entire renovation and upgradation of this 150 Sq Mtr structure .
However we need to pay the Physiotherapists
( we have lady & a gent Physiotherist) to provide these services to our homeless street people, and I am grateful that  the Physiotherapists offer their services at a discounted rate to our NGO.
If you understand pain and suffering and if this message touches you then please help us reach out to the homeless who require these  Physiotherapy sessions.
Physiotherapy can make a huge difference and simple interventions can radically improve their health.
Its time to reconsider  and make some lives better.  They are counting on you for  your HELP.
Please support our NGO.
You get 50% deduction / rebate under section 80G of the INCOME TAX act, once you donate to our NGO.

COLLECTS CLOSE TO 4000 KGS OF EXTRA COOKED FOOD FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE 22

1.7.2022. 7pm IST
FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA collects close to 4000 kgs of Extra cooked food for the month of June 22,  from the fridges installed @ Goa Police stations.
As of date we have 9 fridges @ the following police stations open 24*7 :
☆ Mapusa
☆ Calangute
☆ Panjim
☆ Margao
☆ Fatorda
☆ Colva
☆ Cuncolim
☆ Quepem
☆ Sanguem
Not all fridges are getting food and thats okay as some are in rural areas
The maximum food came  this month from these Police stations  :
▪︎Mapusa 1500 kgs
▪︎Panjim 750 kgs
▪︎Margao 1000 kgs
▪︎Fatorda 500 kgs
▪︎Balance 250 kgs
It's a blessing that fridges @ Police stations in Goa are allowed to be installed to collect extra cooked food to feed the homeless In our homes.
Without free cooked food it's impossible to run free rehabilitation homes for the homeless.
The concept of Free rehabilitation homes for the homeless and food bank fridges are two parts of the same coin .
Also the food bank fridges in public places brings down the wet garbage and reduces wet waste in that city or village.
And we are doing this last 5 years and counting .
Daily collecting and accepting extra cooked food which otherwise would be thrown out is task for those who understand hunger .
We thank alot of people who take the trouble of packing the extra food and dropping this extra cooked into the fridges at various Police stations across Goa .
I thank God for inspiring me to start the rehabilitation homes as well as the food bank fridges as without food it is very difficult for a small NGO like ours to take in daily such homeless people
Cost of food is rising daily.
Please share the post and poster attached to your relatives and friends.
No need to call and ask .
Pack your extra food in food grade plastic bags or in silver foil containers and go to the above mentioned Police stations.
Open the fridge and place the food in the fridge.
That's simple.
Nothing to be afraid of at the Police station.
Besides food bank fridges we also collect any 4000 kgs of good extra cooked food daily from
Factories, Bakeries , hotels and casinos .
20% – 30% on an average gets spoilt and that we feed to the animals.
Besides our shelter homes we also provide this extra cooked food to other homes and also to our volunteers who feed in the villages the poor and needy.
An expensive project as there is costs of cars to pick this food , drivers salary,  transportation costs , heating and storage costs and then redistributing cost.
We take pride that we are the only organized and established food bank in Goa doing this service.
Please support our NGO.
You get 50% deduction / rebate under section 80G of the INCOME TAX act, once you donate to our NGO.
We accept only CHEQUES / NEFT with your pan card copy .

TAKES THIS GOAN MAN INTO OUR HOME. HIGHLY EDUCATED ELDERLY HAVING A MASTERS DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGERRING

29.6.2022. 7pm IST
Highly educated elderly Goan man having a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engerring , living on the streets last 10 years in Vasco city.
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA takes this goan man into our home.
Both late  parents were Doctors from Old Goa .
Father was Dr Robert & Mother was Dr Jessy
Sad. But true .
Simon Williams must be 68 -70 years old .👇
Simon wife expired man years ago and has no children .
Simon has a Master Degree in Engineering from Coimbatore and claims to be a Master in diesel & petrol pumps .
Says he worked in numerous places in Goa & 10 years back he was poisoned at his last job which made him sick, jobless and on the streets.
Claims his house is broken down at old goa .
( may be even grabbed by now ).
Has 2 brothers  he is not aware where they are .
And 1 sister who is in UK.
Has been sitting outside a religious place for the last 10 years in Vasco begging to survive and the worst freaking part is NO ONE LITERALLY HELPED HIM TO GET TO A HOME .
About 1 month back was admitted into CHICALIM health Centre , may be by the Police,   where Dr Anil the big boss of the hospital treated him and asked our NGO to take him in .
Dr Anil is and has been doing a great HUMANITARIAN service by not putting these homeless people back on the streets once treated at his hospital but getting them to our notice and attention for rehabilitation.
Simon is really weak , undernourished,  stressed, disappointed and tired of being on the streets and railway station last 10 years .
Has no teeth and alot of pain in his body.
Most of the time I am sure that he must have been passed of as a MIGRANT and so we all have just moved on by ignoring him .
It's raining heavily and such old, abandoned people are just having no place to go .
We as a SOCIETY are failing this section of people daily.
We are caught up in our own problems and issues of life .
Once again I am appealing, IF YOU SEE SUCH genuine homeless ( priorty goans ) around sleeping or staying in the bus stops, gardens,  railway stations etc AND WHO WANT HELP TO rehabilitate, ” PLEASE GO TO THE NEAREST POLICE STATION & COMPLAIN “.
Also get in touch through WHATSAPP only on 8380097564.
It's getting tight helping many many out there on the streets.
We require your help and support both financially and in kind .
Everything is just rising and rising.
We need your support to move forward in these services to the homeless and abandoned.
