WE ARE IN NEED OF 8 to 10 LAPTOPS TO FACILITATE BASIC COMPUTER EDUCATION FOR THE LADY INMATES

29.6.23. 7Pm IST
To facilitate basic computer education for the lady inmates especially in our expanding shelter homes in Goa, we are in need of 8 to 10 laptops.
Additionally, we are seeking computer teachers who can conveniently teach basic computer applications to educated & qualified inmates who are either homeless or facing mental disabilities.
Our homes are located at these talukas:
Bardez , Salcette , Quepem
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA is dedicated to not only rehabilitating Goans suffering from mental disabilities but also providing skill development and empowerment to women facing disabilities and homelessness.
Over the past few years, we have been providing care and rehabilitation to Goan women and men with mental disabilities, many of whom were living on the streets or abandoned by their families for various reasons.
Currently we have
☆ 55 + women of which
☆ 44 are goans and of which
☆ 25+, are 10th Std 12th Std, graduates and couple are post graduates one is a 3rd year LAW student
But due to psychiatric issues they need to be in a home and administered medicines.
In order to empower and enhance the skills of the individuals under our care, we have implemented and are currently introducing a wide range of skill development programs.
These include disciplines such as
☆ Tailoring,
☆ Needlework,
☆ Flower making,
☆ Poultry farming,
☆ Agricultural techniques, and more.
Furthermore, we aim to provide instructions in basic computer skills to the individuals in our care, which is why we require laptops.
In the coming few months / year,  we are doubling our capacity from :
◇ 200 beds to 400 beds &
◇ 8 homes to 16 homes.
The majority of the inmates, particularly the women, are long-term residents and do not have anyone to return to at home.
These Goan ladies are and can be some one daughter,  sister  , wife , mother , etc but are abandoned because they suffer from mental disabilities and don't take their medication.
We currently have a skilled workforce undergoing psychiatric treatment.
As the number of homes increases, our manpower will expand further, highlighting the need to provide them with specialized training and skills based on their abilities, considering that many of them have long-term mental disabilities.
The implementation of the aforementioned courses within the shelter homes is essential to enable the inmates:
to achieve self-sustainability,
empowerment, and
the utilization of their skills.
Rehabilitating the homeless Goans with mental disabilities is one aspect, but empowering them with skill development is the focus @ Street Providence Goa.
Due to the complex and interconnected activities at our NGO, providing basic computer education to individuals with disabilities will facilitate the recording of daily activities and information in each home.
This data can then be entered into a centralized system and transmitted to the main office for efficient management and coordination.
All our homes are on CCTV and each home has broad band; so connectivity is always available.
Say in a ladies home of 10 pax :
☆ 1 or 2 ladies learn computers
☆ 1 or 2 ladies learn Tailoring
☆ 1 or 2 ladies learn poultry farming / Agriculture
☆ 1 or 2 learn flower making etc.
The overall environment within the shelter homes undergoes a positive transformation, resulting in reduced reliance on medication and fostering a sense of happiness, liveliness, motivation, and self-dependence among the inmates.
A similar situation exists in the men's home, where we currently house over 105 homeless men, the majority of whom suffer from mental disabilities.
Although we occasionally attempt to bring a few ladies with mental disabilities to our head office in Sangolda for computer lessons, this disrupts our already overloaded operations.
A video attached of one such Goan lady who we attempted to teach basic computers.👇
Consequently, we believe that teaching them within the home is the optimal choice.
We work with women who face immense challenges and difficult circumstances.
The age range of Goan ladies/ girls in our shelter homes suffering from severe mental disabilities start as young as 25 years till 40 years and educated.
We have women whose medical records clearly mention :
》MANIAC
》PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIA
》etc.
But once they start rehabilitation program In our homes there is a total change within a few weeks.
Helping them through the recovery process can be emotionally demanding, but we strive to provide them with the necessary support and guidance.
Our ultimate goal is to empower them to independently carry out their basic daily activities.
@ Street Providence Goa, our primary service :
》Shelter Homes for the homeless ,
》Homes for the people with Disabilities ,
》Food bank fridges,
》Physiotherapy centre's for the homeless
》Skill development & women empowerment.

WE RECENTLY DISPATCHED A SIGNIFICANT SHIPMENT OF ESSENTIAL MEDICINES TO MANIPUR

26.6.2023. 7Pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA recently dispatched a significant shipment of essential medicines to Manipur 3 days ago.
The attached list provides details of the medicines sent in strips.
To determine the cost of this consignment, one can easily search for the individual items on Google.
We have a comprehensive understanding of sickness and suffering, as evidenced by our operation of eight shelter homes in Goa for the homeless.
However, we recognize that those residing in relief camps face even greater challenges.
That's why we have made the decision to travel from Goa, which is nearly 4000 kilometers away, to offer whatever assistance we can to the people in Manipur.
On June 24th, while the San Joao festival was being celebrated in Goa, our team tirelessly coordinated the sourcing, arrangement, sorting, packing, and dispatch of these medicines from Delhi to nearest border state.
It was no easy task, but we managed to put together this quantity in just eight hours.
Due to numerous logistical issues, it is challenging to directly transport goods into the state.
Extensive coordination is required due to limited network availability and a complete internet shutdown across Manipur.
However, we are in contact with our team members at six major relief camps in Manipur.
This consignment of medicines departed from Delhi on Saturday night and is expected to reach border state by Thursday.
If all goes well, it should arrive in Imphal on Friday.
Once this medicine consignment is delivered, we plan to send another consignment of psychiatric medication.
We have employed two full time staff in
Churachandpur district &
Kangpopki district
Mr H Khongsai for Kangpokpi District, who is an under graduate with 6 years of social work experience &
Mr S Seiminthang for Churachandpur district,  who is a graduate with 10 years of experience in social work.
These two districts have the most no of relief camps and we have day to day data sent to me by these staff as well as our local volunteers.
We rely on your support to continue assisting those in need amidst the conflict in Manipur.
This week, we aim to send 13 tonnes of dry ration directly from the neighboring state to our base via truck, which will then be distributed to the relief camps in both these districts.
If you can contribute towards the partial payment for this truck, we would be immensely grateful.
The truck will carry the following items:
☆ 10000 kgs of rice
☆ 1000 kgs of dhal
☆ 1000 kgs of onions
☆ 1000 kgs of potatoes,
We can facilitate the bill in your name directly for the quantity you wish to sponsor, and you can make the payment to the supplier through NEFT if desired or to our NGO & claim the tax rebate under section 80G.
Additionally, if necessary, we can provide you with appreciation and publicity on social media.
Let's join forces and do what we can, even from 4000 kilometers away, in our beautiful Goa.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated benefactors for standing by us and the people of Manipur during this conflict.
Please note there are no internet facility in Manipur so pictures are an issue but by this Saturday we will be able to put out a few pictures of the relief material which we have sent
We operate strictly through whstsapp messages only on 8380097564 so please avoid calling unnecessarily.
God bless you so much

WE COLLABORATES WITH FMCK SISTERS, GOA TO PROVIDE TEMPORARY SHELTER TO REFUGEE FAMILIES OF THE MANIPUR CONFLICT

24.6.2023. 9Pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA Goa collaborates witb FMCK Sisters, Goa , to provide TEMPORARY shelter to refugee families of the MANIPUR conflict , should the need arise in GOA.
♡♡♡ I expresses my gratitude to Sr. Fatima Rodrigues, Superior General of FMCK, for understanding my request to provide shelter to the refugees from Manipur in case of any request, which will be routed through our NGO.
Within a mere 24 hours of initiating relief efforts for the homeless and disabled in Manipur, our local team encountered  families with young children in dire circumstances.
With no viable options other than facing homelessness or wandering aimlessly, these families were in urgent need of assistance.
Since setting up shelter homes for the homeless in Manipur would take time, we decided to temporarily accommodate such families in Goa as per the request of our local volunteers and team members at  Manipur, and our MANIPURI ADVISOR who is taken on board for the entire MANIPUR relief & rehabilitation program which we understand might take a few months to stabilise.
However, housing posed a challenge, as our existing homes were specifically for people with disabilities and the homeless.
In this regard, we approached our collaborators at FMCK and requested some further more space in Goa to accommodate these families until they can safely return to Manipur in the future.
Without hesitation, Sr. Fatima promptly responded with a resounding YES, opening the doors of her one FMCK home in Goa exclusively for the refugees.
Basically we have 3 rehabilitation homes for the homeless in Goa whicb are rented out to our NGO at a nominal cost from FMCK , which currently provide rehabilitation to approximately 20 women in 2 homes , 25 men in one home, including 30 local ethnic Goans suffering from homelessness and disabilities in these 3 homes put togther.
Throughout our five years of collaboration with FMCK sisters, we have maintained a healthy
Landlord-tenant relationship.
In times of crisis, Goa, known as a safe place, attracts people seeking refuge.
Consequently, individuals/ families arriving in Goa with their families, especially those loitering on the streets, are often spotted by the police who reach out to us for assistance.
We are preparing ourselves to address this inevitable situation, particularly during the challenging monsoon season.
My sources in different NE states tell me that there will be a requirement for temporary rehabilitation for the refugees.
We kindly request all members of CRI in Goa to kindly follow FMCK's lead and join hands with either witb us to accommodate families facing incomprehensible circumstances or to open up a few rooms.
All operational costs will be borne by our NGO incase of collaboration with our NGO.

We solely require the space to temporarily house these families, should the need arise on a temporary basis along with an incharge.
We are open to exploring various options and arrangements on a case-by-case basis.
Moreover, if any individuals in Goa possess unoccupied and habitable rooms, houses, or buildings, we urge them to partner with our NGO should the need arise.
It is an opportune moment to sow seeds of love and peace.
In our rehabilitation program, we welcome ,   rehabilitate & care for individuals of all religions, including Hindus, Christians, and Muslims, comprising both men and women.
Presently, our organization houses 165 + people from Goa and approximately 11 other states, including the North East, all of whom have been duly admitted by the Goa Police in our 8 shelter homes across Goa for the homeless and those with disabilities.
We implore you to extend your support in whatever capacity you can to assist those in need.
We are working on the ground in Manipur in a very big way by providing ration, medicines and shelter if the need arises, which is bound to happen.
Together, let us stand united in supporting all those who require help.
Your prayers, wishes, good thoughts , forwarding our messages to your friends and relatives along with your donation is what we ask from you.
We operate strictly through whstsapp messages only on 8380097564 so please avoid calling unnecessarily.
God bless you so much

FOOD BANK FOR THEM POOR SANGOLDA, GOA SOWED IN MANIPUR ON GROUND ZERO

23.6.23. 7Pm IST
Today our Food Bank for the poor Sangolda, Goa sowed in Manipur on ground Zero :
☆ 32 bags of rice
☆ 10 bags of whole peas
☆ 3 tins of cooking oil
( prices were almost double as we bought from the local wholesaler ) .
For the amount we sowed, the quantity should have been much more, but due to economic blockade, the prices are rising and alot of goods are coming across the border adding to the price rise due to transport cost.
A small start to those who definitely are in need of help.
We intend to extend our work for the next few months and eventually we intend to set up a few shelter homes for the people with Disabilities in Manipur along with food banks.
Food bank for the Poor Sangolda Goa sets up  small food bank like facility in districts of Manipur to provide dry ration, grocery & basic medication to various people in shelters.
We are associating, collaborating, assisting and
working with Roman Catholic Church in Manipur.
Food is an essential aspect of life as well as medications.
Working last 5 years in Goa and running a registered Food Bank as well as rehabilitating homeless people with mental disabilities makes us feel the need to reach out to those in Manipur who might be in need of help.
Infact this year in Dec 2022 , The Government of Goa, awarded our NGO as the BEST NGO at the hands of The Honourable Chief Minister of Goa.
Surely there will be people turning homeless or people with disabilites suffering for want of food & medications and we are committed to support this section of society.
It's not an easy place at the moment to offer our services but all challenges are worth the effort.
We have to come out of our comfort zone to reach out to those in need.
The basic food requirements are :
☆ Rice
☆ Dal / whole peas
☆ Onions
☆ Potatoes
☆ Edible oil.
Simple life style and simple diet.
If we get an entire truck load of 13 tonnes into any district with the above items the cost reduces by over 40%.
That means transportation is the main factor as the goods into Manipur moves through 2 other states before the final destination is reached.
Medications will be all GENERIC which will be flown in from Delhi, as we buy alot of medicines for our shelter homes from Delhi for those with psychiatric issues in our shelter homes and this pharmacy provides us 1 month credit with door delivery but GENERIC in nature.
Few of our volunteers who have been with me right through the Kerala Flood relief as well as the Covid 19 period, will be going to Manipur in due course of time to help in the distribution and other relief works and to advice me the plan we need to focus on in the future once peace returns
RECALL / RECAP :
◇ 1. Kerala flood relief in 2018, our food bank sent 13 truck loads of relief material to different districts in Kerala worth close to Rs 1.5 crorers.

◇ 2. Lockdown of Covid 19 , we distributed close to Rs. 1 crore worth of Dry ration & relief material including oxygen cylinders, Ambulances, etc in Goa.

◇ 3. Plus we were the only NGO in GOA taking in close to 150 homeless street people into our shelter homes for rehabilitation during the entire Covid 19 lockdown.
At this time if you reading this message , feel like me for the poor, hungry , sick and people with disabilites in Manipur then you know WE CAN JOIN HANDS in doing the little we can.
As we eat our meal tonight or tomorrow or in the coming few days, or as we celebrate our functions, please do think about putting aside a little, towards our services in Manipur.
Due to Internet shutdown, we are unable to post pictures but once things get back to normal, all our activity in Manipur will be uploaded on our website.
Try avoid calling , but please whatsapp only for any queries on 8380097564.
We offer you Income tax exemption on your donations under Section 80G but for your donation we require your pan card copy.
We don't have FCRA so those intending to send from abroad please don't send through any exchange like WU or RIA.
We can sort this issue out on a one to one basis.
If you have any queries please do whatsapp me on 8380097564 .
Goa is on the West Coast & Manipur is Far East.
WE DARE TO DREAM.
God bless you all

WE NOT ONLY FOCUSES ON REHABILITATION OF THE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES BUT WE ALSO IMPART VOCATIONAL TRAINING.

22.6.2023  7 PM IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA not only focuses on rehabilitation of the people with Disabilities but we also impart VOCATIONAL TRAINING.
With the help of a PROFESSIONAL VOCATIONAL TRAINER and these small sessions you get those  little smile on the faces of the women who feel that they can DO IT.
Attached a 30 sec video which you must see.👇
☆ Session Topic :- Yarn wrapped bottle with pompom flowers
☆ Total inmates :- 07 ( 6 are ethnic goans )
☆ Active inmates :-04
☆ Inactive inmates :-03
☆ Time taken :-  10:45 to 12:30
All the 7 ladies who were imparted the session are on medium ( 6 tablets) to heavy ( 12 tablets) of psychiatric medication and what they have produced is not an easy task to achieve at their mental state.
Just like we have Physiotherapy sessions at our Physiotherapy centre's we also conduct VOCATIONAL TRAINING Sessions in our shelter homes for ladies.
We are fortunate to have a talented , young , committed and caring VOCATIONAL TRAINER, Mrs Dhanashri who we hired during the last few months to impart training to all the ladies in our shelter Homes.
Mrs Dhanashri takes sessions of :
》Cooking
》Flower making
》Playing games
》Paper craft work
》Flower making
》Etc.
At times I know it gets tough as their medications gets them drowsy or they just have mood swings but we DARE TO DREAM and persistence is the key.
Usually one understands that shelter homes with people with disabilites means just lock them up .
But @ Street Providence we include :
☆ Physiotherapy sessions
☆ Vocational training sessions
☆ Counseling sessions
☆ Outings sessions
☆ Gardening activities
Soon we will be adding :
◇ Live stock rearing
◇ Agriculture techniques
◇ Tailoring and sewing sessions
◇ Computer classes
◇ Painting & drawing classes
Today we have close to 55 lady inmates and by this year end we will be caring and rehabilitating close to 100 ladies suffering from mental & intellectual disabilities and it's time to EMPOWER THE WOMEN in our homes suffering from disabilities.
90 % of 165 + inmates are cared for absolutely FREE as they are poor and abandoned and of the 165 + inmates  ” close to 105 + are ethnic local poor goans “.
There was a time I was apprehensive to starting, running and caring for women suffering from disabilities as they can be difficult to handle at time.
But from slowly running only 1 women home ,
learning from our shortfall and mistakes, employing professionals,
listening to advice from various sections of qualified professionals &
the availability of funding under CSR activities,
Today we run 4 shelter homes for women with disabilities & I have challenged myself TO DREAM BIG & EMPOWER WOMEN in our 4 Shelter Homes.
We are very soon starting homes for women suffering from AUTISM & DOWN SYNDROME and it will be challenging but yet possible to take care of such ladies with these disabilities.
We all need to come out of our COMFORT ZONE and to bring that little smile on the faces on those who are suffering from disabilities and have no one to take care of themselves as they are a burden to their families because they don't take or are not administered their medications on time.
Your support is what drives us @ Street Providence Goa to look after close to 165 + men & women in our 8 shelter homes in Goa.
Do support us in whatever way you can.
God bless you so much

COMPLETES 1 FULL YEAR OF RUNNING AND FULL FLEDGED FREE PHYSIOTHERAPY CENTRE @ SANGOLDA FOR THE HOMELESS STREET PEOPLE WITH DISABILITES.

20.6.2023.  7Pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA completes 1 full year of running a full fledged FREE PHYSIOTHERAPY CENTRE @ Sangolda for the homeless street people with disabilities.
On 17.6. 2022 , we started on a soft note a small Physiotherapy centre at Sangolda which was officially innaugrated on 23.8.2022 by The Honourable Social Welfare Minister of Goa, Shri Subhash Phal Dessai in the presence of The Disability Commissioner of Goa Shri Guru Pawaskar.
This is the link of the innaugration of our 1st Physiotherapy unit .
Whatever the Minister & Disability Commissioner spoke at the innaugration has actually translated into reality where our NGO is concerned.
And from this one Physiotherapy centre we have added 2 more Physiotherapy centre's in Goa.
Yes in the last 12 months,  we now run 3 full fledged Physiotherapy centre's in Goa, strictly FREE of cost for the poor & homeless street people with disabilities living in all our 8 shelter homes.
And these 3 Physiotherapy centre's conducted 1600 sessions in this 12 months.
List attached of the breakup unit wise/ month wise.
This 1st Physiotherapy centre @ Sangolda was made possible by the families of two people who are bereaved.
My late sister in law Dr Gail & her husband who was kind enough to give me & my family this big property and late Mrs Ditosa husband who funded the entire renovation of this 200 sq mt unit.
Initially to start this 1st Physiotherapy centre we required equipment and Mr Varun Albuquerque from Alcons was generous enough to sponsor the equipment along with a GOAN well Wisher from Pune who donated the balance equipment for which we are always thankful.
Today with all humility, I  thank The Social Welfare Department @ Government of Goa for funding this 1st Physiotherapy centre of
Rs 5 lacs  as well as clearing all our bills within the prescribed limit of the grant from Oct 22 to March 23 ie The Physiotherapist salary & a cleaner wages.
Our expenses for 6 months ie Oct 22 to Mar 23 was credited to our account in the month of May 23 as we submitted our bills and accounts mid April 23.
The support and commitment shown by the Social Welfare Department , Government of Goa headed by The Minister Subhash Phal Dessai is encouraging and motivating.
So much so that in early December 22 , we started on the same day, two more such units in South Goa.
One at our Quepem shelter home and another at our Cavelossim shelter home.
Infact, The Minister for Social Welfare, Mr Subhash Phal Dessai Innaugrated the Quepem Physiotherapy centre at 10 am.
And on the same day , The Member of Parliament , South Goa, Mr Francisco Sardinha , innaugrated the Cavelossim Physiotherapy centre at 12 pm in the presence of Benaulim MLA Mr Venzy Viegas.
Just like we run shelter homes for the homeless & food bank fridges to feed the homeless, we also run Physiotherapy centre's for the homeless.
Alcohol and substance abuse is the main causes of the people ( men ) reaching the streets and then they develop symptoms of disabilities.
So much so that most of the homeless In our mens homes are totally suffering from muscle issues in their legs which make them unable to stand and walk , all because of alcohol consumption.
In such cases I was unable to do much in their detoxification period as they just could not walk or even stand properly.
That's when I was inspired to start Physiotherapy centre's.
And today , these 3 Physiotherapy centre's are playing a big part in the rehabilitation of the 165+ homeless people in all our 8 shelter homes.
Running these Physiotherapy centre's is not easy and there is a Cost.
Only 1 unit is funded by the Government and the Physiotherapist salary of this unit is funded only 50% of what we actually pay the Physiotherapist.
♡♡♡ A big thanks to Dr Ashton a young budding Physiotherapist from Santa Cruz who helped me in setting up all 3 units and linking me up witn the Physiotherapist in all 3 units.
Not to forget our Supplier Mr Bhavesh for the credit period offered and still he offers credit.
Our Sangolda Unit takes care of the homeless In our 5 homes in North Goa.
Our Quepem unit takes care of the homeless In the Quepem home.
Our Cavelossim unit takes care of the homeless In our 2 homes in Cavelossim.
The most complicated unit is at Sangolda as all the inmates from our 5 shelter homes in North Goa are daily transported by Car / Ambulance from the homes to this unit at Sangolda, where the Physiotherapist Miss Charmaine from porvorim treats them with much love & care.
Some are Wheeled in on wheelchairs , some are brought on stretchers from our shelter homes in North Goa, but everyone walks away after a few sessions of Physiotherapy witn confidence and pride.
Imaging daily bring 5 to 6 homeless people suffering from mental disabilities as well as physical pain for Physiotherapy.
Care givers and attendants too are brought along with these 5 to 6 people for Physiotherapy & imagine the transportation up and down and it happens all 6 days a week.
But there is joy and self satisfaction when the final session ends and the homeless person is smiling and enjoying the end of the pain.
Have you ever heard of any Shelter home in Goa or even India offering free Physiotherapy sessions for the poor & homeless street people with disabilities ?
Like I said above, Physiotherapy is not an easy or cheap service, as the Physiotherapist has to be paid a Salary.
And we successful conducted 1600 sessions of Physiotherapy for the homeless In 1 full year.
WE DARE TO DREAM BIG DREAMS.
God bless you all

CANACONA POLICE GETS OFF THE STREETS THIS POOR OLD HOMELESS SLIGHTLY PARALYZED MAN TO OUR SHELTER HOME

19.6.2023. 7Pm IST
Canacona Police gets off the streets this poor old homeless slightly paralyzed man to our shelter home at Quepem
Mr John as his Police papers state has been living in chinchinim / Assolna for over 3 decades either doing manual work for a living.
Now at 65 + years he has grown old and lonely and he is an Asthma patient.
Few months back he fell down / got hurt and landed in District hospital margao and that's how he ended up using a stick/ clutch for moving around.
In between he was staying in a shelter home in canacona but due to the home shutting down he was roaming and living on the streets of Canacona as told to us by him.
He was given my no / he got my no and he called me pleading to be sheltered as the rains have started and he is having mobility issue in moving around and survival on the streets is tough at his age.
Looks to be clean of alcohol & smoking.
Two nights ago , Canacona Police were kind enough to do his paperwork and dropped him to our home @ Quepem.
Tired, stressed , malnourished , lonely, alone and not in the best of health
Has a brother in Mangalore who also is a bachelor like him that what he told us.
He just required a roof and food which we agreed to provide him as he really can't work anymore due to his slight paralysis one side.
Too many such old bachelors & spinsters on the streets of Goa turning homeless.
As the monsoon is about to kick in, there are many out there looking for place to stay but we are really getting over loaded.
Not exactly sure what is the government plan to address the homeless on the streets especially in the major cities of Goa.
We are trying to take in only the most deserving, the old and the people suffering from Disabilities.
Just incase anyone recognises him from chinchinim / assolna / Canacona area please do let me know through whatsapp on 8380097564.
God bless you so much

RECENTLY WE TOOK INTO OUR WOMEN SHELTER HOME A YOUNG MAHARASHTRIAN LADY

15.6.2023. 5pm IST
Recently we took into our women shelter home a young Maharashtrian lady who has gone through endless pains caused due to excess addiction to alcohol.
》Marriage at the age of  22 years,
》She Divorced her husband at 26 years,
》Has a 9 year old child in custody of her husband,
》Mother died within 1 month of her marriage due to alcohol,
》Only sibling is divorced also & an alcoholic,
》No permanent home or any family members.
Introduced to alcohol by her ex husband who is also an alcoholic.
Determined to fight alcohol and wishes to stand strong in life.
Educated well , has the capacity to work, wants to be independent, but due to no control over her emotions ends up consuming excess alcohol & that has even damaged her liver.
Worked in different places to survive after being divorced, but meets the wrong person who plays on her emotions and that leads to excess drinking.
Twice admitted by Police into IPHB as excess drinking caused her to reach & fall on the streets
Few months back again got emotionally disturbed and excess drinking caused her to get herself ” self admitted into IPHB “.
But this time requested for help ” to get rehabilitated in a home where she can put her educational qualifications to use and get a job too while staying in the rehabilitation home “.
And that was only ” STREET PROVIDENCE GOA “.
I just thank God that this young lady after getting self discharged used her mind to reach a rehabilitation Home and take help for her excess alcoholic habits rather reaching the streets where she could have been exploited and hurt.
This lady after being admitted many times into IPHB has heard of our SHELTER HOME and our rehabilitation programs & to my surprise she knows quite a lot of ladies who are rehabilitated in our ladies shelter homes.
At the moment lady is on quite alot of psychiatric medications as the excess alcohol has or might have effected her cells resulting in her getting hallucinations, hearing voices, sleep loss ,etc.
Not going to be easy for her as she is highly educated but she has no choice but to detoxify  completely and stay in a rehabilitation Home for a few years as well get a small job in the rehabilitation home as that will keep her steady with timely medications, follow up at the IPHB, periodical blood tests as well as a complete nutrition program as she could have damaged her internal organs due to excess alcohol.
Incase she had not entered a rehabilitation Home , her condition could have got worse as she could have ended up again in alcohol, her mental stability could have worsened, that could can lead to anger and abusive nature, which can lead to crime and then that can land one in Jail.
Handling alot of such homeless cases in the last 5 years of our rehabilitation program, I have seen, understood , stabilised,  helped quite a few men & women to get back on track.
On the flip side I have failed, as many times those in alcohol & substance abuse refuse to belive they need help and most of these types of people end up back on the streets or just wander around till their medical condition deteriorates that one day they will kick the bucket.
This Maharashtrain lady accepts and recognises that she has a serous alcoholic issue which is turning her psychiatric and she wants help to fight this alcoholic issues and that makes our rehabilitation program come into good effect for her to recover and get her life back in the due course of time.
Those in alcohol mostly suffer from diabetics and we have 26 % population of goa suffering from diabetics which is very high.
Too much of alcohol & substance abuse leads to mental breakdown which is also in the rise.
The after effects of excess alcohol & substance abuse is destroying people as young as 22 years of age and above
We @ Street Providence Goa stands with such sad & lonely people who have messed up their own lives and who today are in need of a Hand to go through their difficult phases of their lives.
It's not easy but it's challenging, living and caring for such people who have no one else to fall back and the world is ready to swallow and destroy such vulnerable people either by destroying their bodies or pushing them into the flesh trade or trafficking them.
We @ Steeet Providence are doing the little we can to bring a change in the lives of the poorest of the poor and the most vulnerable section of society.
God bless you all

Call from Goa Police @ Old Goa Police station,
” can u please help to shelter a homeless 19 year old girl carrying a 6 months unborn and just travelled close to 3000 kms to reach Goa ? “.
No one wants to get into such complicated requests as such cases require alot of running around.
And I am sure , the call has gone to other homes as well , but no space, will be surely be the answer.
My Reply ” hold on , I will check with the team “.
Quickly Team agrees & a 80 year old NUN incharge of this ladies home & a lady care giver are ready on standby by, along with our Operations Manager,  Mr Sapnesh to welcome this young lady.
Finally we receive through the Goa Police  at approx 11pm this young homeless to be mother, into our home even though all our 4 ladies  homes are full.
No request has ever been rejected in any of our 4 ladies homes because of space and never will we ever say no to a request especially if its at night.
Girl has taken the wrong decision in her life and a few months back got married against her family wishes.
Husband was an orphan,  met online &
got married 6 months back.
Both are from different states and different religions.
Unfortunately husband met with an accident and expired 3 months back.
Her family refuses to take her back.
Decided to go to Delhi and try to get a job to survive.
Met an Angel in the train who told her not to go to Delhi as its not safe for single mother but go to Goa which is much more safer than any other state in India.
Landed last evening in Goa and went around searching for help before being spotted by PINK FORCE / GOA POLICE.
Situation looks sad , bad and frightening.
But WE DARE TO DREAM @ Street Providence.
It's going to really tough in the coming 3 months but that's what we are called to do.
” Care for the those who have no one & abandoned, irrespective of the situations “.
I have a family with 3 children and I know how things go through before delivery especially from the medical perspective.
Tomorrow it start :
☆ Check ups
☆ Numerous Doctors trips,
☆ Sonography, ultrasounds, blood tests , etc
☆ Medication & nutrition,
☆ Rest and care.
We @ Street Providence are committed to provide all the best we can to this ” young to be mother ” who has showed nerves of steel and inspite of her loss of her husband is determined to live a life by giving life to the unborn in her stomach.
What is going on in her head who knows and no one can imagine.
That pain, the rejection, the loneliness, tough thoughts about the future, the hunger and no money, unsure when she sleeps at night will she be safe in the morning, etc.
All her train travels of the 3000kms have been in general compartment without a valid ticket.
You too can stand with her and her unborn in :
☆ Your prayers
☆ Your wishes
☆ Your help in any other way you can.
Please no requests about the future plans of the girl and the unborn child.
We will look after both of them as long as she wishes to stay with us which I am sure will be long term and we intend to offer her a job in our NGO as she speaks fluent and clear English and is educated upto 10th std.
God bless you so much

75+ OLD ABANDONED LONELY GOAN MAN LIVING ON THE STREETS OF MARGAO PICKED UP TODAY AND ADMITTED INTO OUR SHELTER HOME

10.6.2023. 7 PM IST
This 75+ old abandoned lonely goan man living on the streets of Margao , picked up today and admitted into our Shelter home by our Volunteer Mr John Baptist supported by Fatorda Police.
Mr Leuin, must be 75 years old and for over a month, he was living in the heat and hot summer on the streets of Margao in the vicinity of Holy Spirit Church and speaks fluent English.
Video attached.👇
Terribly sick and suffering from a sickness which requires an operation but due to being homeless he is still suffering and operation not yet done.
He Can be Like anyones father , uncle,  grand father , brother.
And at this age to be terribly sick and on the streets is sad and depressing for all.
But then nothing can be done except getting such people to a shelter home.
Infact March 2021 , we had picked up this same man from Navelim church and he stayed for a year and left in Aug 2022.
Last 1 month he has been living in the heat and dust in margao and requesting me to please help him once again.
Actually we don't take back anyone who had left our homes as it then creates a precedence for the others to leave and go and drink, enjoy and come back as and when their heath gets worse and we have to run around fixing their heath issue.
But since Mr LEUIN is old and the heat has been too bad and the rains are started,  we made an exception and took him in.
All are aware that the homeless are too many in margao city .
But this was bound to happen as the only running shelter home right in the heart of the city was forcibly shut down a few years back.
And who is suffering  ?
The poorest of the poor on the streets.
And these poor homeless people are always located right from Holy Spirit Church to the garden and going around Grace Church margao plus around the municipality building.
And I say NO one, including both the Fatorda & Margao MLAs, the parishioners of both these churches, the councilors of MMC & Society at large is doing anything long-term and concrete to address this issue which is like a eye sore to all in this city.
Everyday we get calls to take some one or the other from Margao city and we refuse as the city needs to have its own shelter home and those who shut down this home 3 years back needs to know how life is cruel and difficult to those living on the streets of Margao.
And all those who have died on the streets of margao due to no shelter as the only Shelter home in margao was shut down, their death on the streets is because of no foresight on those who shut down a running shelter home.
And in the coming years , the homeless are bound to increase in the city and the homeless will keep dying for want of shelter.
But who cares ?
25 % of the homeless In Goa are genuine goans who have turned homeless for real genuine reasons and the nos are increasing silently but quickly.
We require your help constantly and continously as rehabilitating of the homeless is a daily and a non stop service.
This elderly goan man Mr LEUIN will need trips to the hospital, admission and operation & after care help to fight his sickness and its not going to be easy for him nor for us .
But some one has to get the job done towards such old abandoned and homeless Goans on the streets of Goa.
God bless you so much
