STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST, GOA admits this homeless Goan man in a very pathetic condition yesterday into our home.

Inspite of yesterday being pre occupied, 

I did my 1% commitment by going to see this man in mapusa , who was really very weak and undernourished and by 9pm he reached out home. 

99% work done by Miss JENNIFER DSOUZA from Moira who spent the whole day sorting out his paperwork. 

She even drives 80 kms 1 way to drop Abhijit to our home and returned back home by 11pm.

On 28.9.2020 , Miss Jennifer was at the mortuary of DISTRICT HOSPITAL MAPUSA where she observed Mr Abhijit .

She called me and explained the issue .

I told her the procedure .

( Note Jennifer was the same girl who had 1 year before rescued Sidhu , the petrol pump rightful heir from Duler in her own car )

She completed the funeral of her relative on 28th and was back yesterday at District hospital mapusa to rescue Abhijit .

She got the Mapusa police to verify and issue the Noc that Abhijit is homeless. 

A big thanks to the MS of District Hospital Mapusa , Dr Mohandas pednekar , who understood the problem and gave Jennifer the entire Medical Reports of Abhijit and a prescription for future medicines what Abhijit requires to stabilise. 

The MS even wrote a prescription for a COVID test which turned out to be negative. 

Abhijit has been living for the last 45 days in the vicinity of the hospital not sure what he wad expecting and from whom .

A Goan by birth but his own family is no where as he has no family .

Blessings on JENNIFER that inspite of losing her relative yet got inspired to help this goan man Abhijit. 

Abhijit was heavily into Alcohol and lost everything and reached the streets. 

It is a great opportunity for me to be able to go to the streets on my birthday and provide rehabilitation to this goan man .

Usually all rehabilitation and admissions issues are handled by Sapnesh but yesterday he was in south GOA. 

Imagine 45 days in the rain and on the floor with no food bath water and toilet facility .

So weak that he could not stand , leave alone walk. 

Let's join hands in Goa to reach out to such homeless desperate street people.

FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA, feeds over 1500 + meals across Goa in flat 90 minutes.

I will write today only about the 1st two .

Tomorrow about the goan man.

I grew 1 year older today both in age and wisdom. 

I Thank God for good health and peace of mind .

I thank my wife for all the support in my life and for keeping me in good health by monitoring each and every step of mine starting with my diet.

My kids who are my biggest stress busters.

A big thanks to my sister Joanita for everything which can't be put down. 

Running Street PROVIDENCE is purely the favour of God as we just go on and on in our work with HIS strength. 

Everything is from the LORD .

Today we fed 1500+ pre cooked food packets across the length and breadth of Goa.

And their supporters and staff.

These 3 NGO distributed 600 pkts food to 250 hiv + people and their immediate family.

whose staff got these 1500+ packets ready and out within the stipulated time of 11.30am to 12pm

A birthday boy & a homeless man on the streets 

A man of simplicity and yet a tough man to deal with .

Very easy to get along with and no hidden agenda and EGO.

Handles all the PR @ STREET PROVIDENCE .

Deals with the authorities, benefactors , volunteers, care givers , inmates, trustees , everybody and all.

Never gets angry and never loses his cool.

Also not some one to back stab any one nor does he work with hidden agenda. 

Wants to serve the poor while still holding his job.

Not interested in starting his own NGO but rather ready to work for the poorest of the poor .

( lots of people come to me saying they want to serve the poor but intentions are to learn how to make money without accountability. Then they try to create an impression by going to my benefactors and convincing them to start a new NGO and perform better than Street PROVIDENCE to the extent they even abandon their own families and try to tie me up in accusations, litigations and cases. )

Sapnesh clearly follows my principle of TEAM WORK & understands to grow an NGO we must depend on VOLUNTEERS .

He is never demanding or autocratic at STREET PROVIDENCE but knows how to solve the daily numerous issues which at times are beyond my patience .

Sapnesh is a complete family man who when not at work will be at home with his family .

Has been with me for the last 5 years but taken complete control of all operations @ Street Providence from Febraury 2020 .

Today inspite of he celebrating his birthday, yet he comes to office and directly responds to a call where by a homeless man gets off the streets and into our home.

Now most of us might want to spend celebrating a birthday with friends and family .

I mean who would want to get involved with a homeless man .

That too who is unclean and in this Covid.

This homeless man Mr DEEPAK MEHERA, has been around GMC for over 1 month. 

Fr Richard from Don Bosco Tuem 15 days back got the 108 to help him but after a day he was back on the streets. 

Received various pictures and videos from people asking to rehab him.

Please watch if you can stand the dirt and pain. 

But whenever we went he was not in the location. 

2 days back our food volunteer who serves breakfast at GMC, Prof Pai , took the respontibily of locating him and tracked him.

goes professionally to get him off the streets. 

The nurse checks all his parameters and realise that he is paralyzed and undernourished. 

His one side is paralyzed and is unclean. 

Our care giver cleans him, washes him and puts new clothes and he is taken to our margao home where he will be isolated for 14 days .

Sapnesh surely must be satisfied celebrating his birthday today by getting this man off the street. 

Can we get more such Sapnesh like thinking who can also come forward and get help to such men who are homeless and in desperate state to get off the streets?

Or is our special moments only about the food and entertainment and fun ?

FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA supported by NAVTARA GROUP OF RESTAURANTS, GOA is attempting to feed 1500+ meals on 29.9.2020 between 11.30am to 1pm .

Navtara , ” Pay it Forward food coupon ” started on 1.8.2020 has reached an unbelievable milestone as a result of your commitment and dedication. 

On 29.9.2020 between 11.30 am to 1 pm , FOOD BANK along with our VOLUNTEERS is attempting to distribute and feed 1500 + meals packets across GOA. 

▪︎3. 250 packets to old aged and senior             citizens in 6 old aged homes in                    Bardez. 

These 1500 food packets will be distributed right across Goa covering :

We as the food bank have always worked and will always work with VOLUNTEERS. 

I will be only co coordinating.

Have been requested to hold my nerves and my horses.

1000 bedsheets & 500 towels 

Early this month our associates & volunteers distributed dry ration to 250 families in Goa .

Since most of these families are really poor and underprivileged their living condition is a bit sad .

During the distribution, the associates discovered that these poor families required bedsheets and towels. 

This month we are again going to provide them dry ration along with the bedsheets and towels to 250 families infected with HIV.

You can please donate 1 kit of dry ration kit worth Rs 1000 along with 4 bedsheets and 2 towels.

This man Mohandas is a keralite and has been stuck in the same place outside Tivim Railway station in a restaurant which is closed, for the last 6 months. 

Leg is swollen and infected with maggots. 

No symptoms of cough, cold ot fever .

According to our knowledge, a few days back 108 attended to his wound but he was back to the same place. 

Before we picked him yesterday, a few locals cleant him and bathed him otherwise its difficult for our nurse to attend to him .

The locals in co ordination with Police personal @ Mapusa Police Station, Mr Franky gets him to our attention.

After all paperwork and checking his parameters, he is admitted into our home. 

Our young nurse did a fantastic job of attending to him with courage and without fear .

( Nurse is not government paid )

Mohandas was just weak and malnourished. 

Mohandas , Right foot infected with maggots , the little toe is almost not there.. 

Might need to be amputated.. 

Mohandas Cannot see in his right eye.. (Might be Pterygium) 

Might Needs opthmalmic reference.

Look at the picture to know his condition at the time of picking him up. 

Once he is stabilised and finishes a few days of quarantine we will start treating him for his leg and his eye .

We @ Street Providence are now geared up to :

Medically examine on the spot 

pick from the street and 

rehabilitate directly into our homes 

All such homeless people, priority men.

Provided they don't require hospitalisation. 

With Government hospitals almost over loaded , with the government ambulances over stretched, alot of homeless are left to fend for themselves. 

We @ Street Providence will surely try to fill the gap .

We require a big big building to rehabilitate so many homeless and desperate to get into a home as once picked up, they requires :

After all they are humans. 

We also require to buy a 2nd hand ambulance which should be a Eco or an omni.

But they big dream home to get another 300+ is what we are looking forward too.

STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST, GOA in the last 48 hours gets 4 homeless people of the streets of Goa and into our homes including a 9 month old child .

This message will be about 3 of them.

Tomorrow will update about the 4th person.

☆ The ladies husband abandoned her on the streets and took the other child who is a boy and disappeared. 

The mother gave the baby to another lady and was sitting at a Government hospital all in despair and lost for life .

To every one blessing , the PSI got the child and mother together and called me for providing shelter. 

As we are unequipped to rehabilitate in such a scenario I assured the PSI that i will help .

Dialed and messaged many homes but scared of Covid is the answer. 

Finally dialed a home which voluntarily took them in.

Big Big thanks to this PSI of Goa Police for taking time inspite of the pandemic and doing the best to see that this mother & child were rehabilitated in the terrible rainy weather that day .

Completely undernourished, weak , wounds on both legs .

No one wanted him .

A few friends got together and admitted him into GMC and got him stabilised for 2 days .

His friend took alot of trouble for almost 5 days desperately trying to get me to admitt him otherwise he would be back on the streets 

Last night at around 10pm we took Prashant into our home in Margao after getting a NOC from Ponda police. 

A big thanks to the PI of Ponda for extending timely help in the paperwork. 

Very very weak man .

But the trouble is his feet .

Big Wounds on both feet which require daily dressing and medicine also his liver is damaged. 

We @ Street Providence are always ready to help in rehabilitation if any one is on the streets. 

It's either a straight yes or no .

This entire Covid period of 6 months I can proudly say we have rehabilitated more than 35 such people either in our homes or in our associate homes.

Men , ladies, children. 

Yes some cases which are really complicated and difficult we have refused. 

But anyone in dire need of a place to sleep and a meal to eat is always accommodated in our shelter homes provided they can use the washroom and have a bath by themselves .

But that is going to stop soon as our homes are completely full.

It pains my heart to say no , but there is really a demand for big big building to accommodate another 300 + homeless people. 

Picking up any homeless sick/ wounded person from the streets is connected to doctor, medicines , visit to hospitals for checkup, etc and is directly related to resources in all forms.

We only survive and are able to do so much because of kindness and generosity in the form of donations from you our benefactors .

GOA POLICE @ MAPUSA POLICE STATION, helps to rescues , and brings joy and new sight to this homeless goan man .

Street Providence Goa on 4.9.2020 had uploaded a post on Rajaram who was homeless with broken spectacles and cataract in 1 eye .

Thanks to Ajay Menon from Rotary Club , Mhapsya who arranged thru VISION HOSPITAL Mapusa this free operation. 

1 month back the police personal @ Karaswaddo outpost, spotted Rajaram loitering around in the rain and in despair and got him to open up .

Immediately the police linked RAJARAM to our Incharge Sapnesh and they did his documentation and medical and admitted him to our rehabilitation home .

After a few days we realised he was blind in 1 eye due to cataract. 

We made a few trips to the doctor and we bought him new spectacles and motivated him to go in for a cataract operation .

Operation was perfect and Rajaram is feeling blessed and happy. 

God bless that Police man who was manning the outpost that day when RAJARAM was loitering .

If the policeman had to shoo him away or ignore Rajaram, then we never know where Rajaram would be today and what would be his physical condition. 

We just helped him with the operation and a place to stay and he can stay with us as long as he wishes.

Too all Goa Police personal on the ground , please remember your 1 phone call to us can be a life changer. 

You can be the person to bring joy and a new life to a homeless person on the streets of Goa .

We are ready to help and rehabilitate

any one at any time if they are homeless but through the following procedure:

Directly we cant pick from the streets.

Risk is too much just in case they die in transit or in our home .

Last rites are a big issue as these homeless people have no documentation and too many hassles by various authorities. 

For those who are unaware, 99 % people in our homes are taken care off without any fees .

Every time you have a meal at any Navtara outlet in Goa , you might just feel like buying a meal for the poor.

Navtara on 1st Aug 2020 had started A “Pay it Forward , Coupon of Hope ” where you buy a food coupon for Rs 40 and either :

For the entire month of August 2020 , 

Food Bank has been Blessed with close to 1000 such coupons/ on line meals .

That's a huge saving to our NGO and our homeless men relish these meals. 

We cant feed much on the streets, as volunteers are trying to stay protected due to Covid .

But last 7 days we got a volunteer Mr John Baptist from Margao who is daily feeding 15 meals to the poor and hungry in that city with these coupons.

We also pick early morning food from all Navtara which is cooked the previous day .

But quantity is not assured and at times there is no extra food for the food bank from these factories and navtara. 

That's where we use these coupons. 

These coupons are a big blessing at short notice especially if food is spoilt .

Besides daily the homeless men cant eat the same food packets .
