CELEBRATED THE FESTIVAL OF COLOURS WITH THE HOMELESS IN OUR SHELTER HOMES.

18.3.202  6pm IST
A HAPPY HOLI TO ALL .
We @ Street Providence celebrated the festival of colors with the homeless In our shelter home.
Almost 70% People with Disabilities ( Pwd ) are in each of our homes and Sapnesh and his team brought a little extra colour to their life in one such home today .
In this home , we had a very young boy max 25 years from Karna -Punjab , Mr Denni / Danny who about 3 years back was admitted into our home through Mapusa Police.
He was all stressed , tired , frightened ,
un cooperative , totally silent.
Picture and video attached. 👇
For over close to two years he just did not utter a word but was there with us in his body.
We never knew what exactly was his issue .
It could be drugs , alcohol anything.
He started eating , doing small works in the house, cleaning and bathing the men who are incapicated,  taking up responsibility,  being available to help those in need in the house.
But then slowly he started speaking and told us his details with his sister cell no.
Sister has been begging not to send him back due to they being in extreme poverty and he might again reaching the streets.
But coming week , Denni / Danny will be put on a train and sent back home, because as of date he is perfect fit and fine .
Denni / Danny wants to go home , visit his sister, see his village and come back and work in our NGO taking care of the older men who are incapicated.
We give him the benefit of the doubt.
Who knows he just might come back to help and show his sign of appreciation.
It gives us great joy to have been able to help and get back on track such a young HANDSOME boy who if not picked in time would have just withered away loitering around in unwanted places.
Many times we ( including me and my team ) tend to walk away from such unclean street people or we tend to just ignore such cases .
But once these same unclean people are scrubbed , washed , polished , fed , cared for and treated become SHINNING GEMS to light up the world.
At times we at the Shelter Homes are just overstretched and over worked with so many such cases
Our commitment is to end Hunger & Homelessness in Goa by helping as many as possible to get off the streets, hospitals , etc .
It's a never ending Service but that's what we are here for ” to provide a place for those who are in need and on the streets “.
This Service would not be possible without BENEFACTORS & THE GOA POLICE.

RAJ BHAVAN, GOA TODAY LAUNCHED A FOOD PROGRAM TO FEED THE HOMELESS LALONG WITH THE FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR

17.3.2022  7pm IST
RAJ BHAVAN, GOA , today launched a food program to feed the homeless , along with
The Food Bank for the Poor , Sangolda , Goa, which is part of our Ngo ” Street Providence “.
One of the many banks I run . ( without money ).
Honourable Governor of Goa has volunteered to provide 100 freshly cooked meals once a week for our homeless people in our 6 + shelter homes from The Raj Bhavan.
As part of our food bank Program of collecting extra food and feeding the hungry and homeless, we usually install fridges which gets us this extra food .
Recently we started installing fridges in Police Stations which is doing just fine .
In this thought , I decided to approach The Raj Bhavan to see if such a fridge could be installed right at the security gate .
Was introduced to Mr Vishram Borkar, SP @ Goa Police who is currently the ADC to The Honourable Governor through an IPS officer.
Down to earth , simple and humble man is how I conclude about Mr Borkar.
He understood our request and worked on the idea and took it forward.
ADC discussed with the Secretary to the Honourable Governor but due to security reasons the proposal was rejected of installing a food bank fridge at the Governor house .
But here is Gods Grace .
Something extra ordinary happened.
The Secretary of the Honourable Governor ,
Mr R.Mihir Vardhan called me for a meeting which was arranged by Mr Borkar .
Mr R.Mihir Vardhan is a no nonsense but yet kind hearted man who suggested that ” Raj Bhavan will provide freshly cooked food every week to our food bank Program @ Food Bank for the Poor ” instead of installing a fridge.
And this meeting was on 15.3.2022 .
That was more than what I could ever expect or ask for .
Within two days The Secretary Mr R.Mihir Vardhan organized this ground breaking program and here we are today receiving the 1st such food for the homeless In our shelter homes.
♡♡ I also thank Mr Harshad , Comptroller @ Raj Bhavan for taking up this responsibility of
co ordinating these meals on a weekly basis starting from today .
♡♡♡ A big thanks to those present today :
☆ Mrs Jyoti Sardessai , Director FDA, Bambolim
☆ Adv Caroline , our Trustee
☆ Mr Sapnesh , our Operation Manager
☆ Prof Pai , ( Ex Goa University) our volunteer
Our 5 years of running The Food Bank for the Poor , is now getting due recognition and support.
For me , my trustees and my team it's more about Passion & Commitment towards the homeless,  disabled,  hungry and the poor than anything else.
We also thank The Press who were present today ( more than 15 different media personel )
and who covered this event.
I did not get an opportunity to click a picture with the Secretary ( as I said earlier, a Kind hearted man but a no nonsense IAS officer ) as he is a extremely occupied mam always on the move and short of time.
God bless you all

RESCUED A GOAN LADY ABANDONED BY HER FAMILY FOR MONTHS IN A HOSPITAL

16.3.2022  7pm IST
A goan lady abandoned by her family for months in a hospital, rescued and now looked after by our NGO in our associate  ladies home.
Mrs Kalpana  ( Name changed) has muscular issues with her lower part of her body and has no control over her toilet movements.
Attached a 30 seconds video of her today condition. 👇
She was brought into the house on a stretcher.
Her daughter's and son's abandoned her in a Government hospital and refused to take her home citing various silly reasons.
She was moved from the rural hospital to the district Hospital and back and this went on .
Mid November 2021 , during my visit to a rural Government hospital , I was informed about this matter.
Being poor , illiterate and unwanted by society , this lady was just living for many months in the corner of the ward , where she was cleaned once a day by the servants .
Thanks to a Senior SP, @ Goa Police , who got the local PI where that rural hospital was situated to do the required paperwork , before the lady was moved.
Before the SP intervened , the local PI refused to understand the gravity of this lady suffering.
Took a few calls and mind storming decisions to get her out of that stench and mess and provide a little better life for her .
Then I Realised that she requires a full time nurse and professional care as she was too complicated to handle in our two womens home .
Could not even eat by herself as her fingers are bent.
Had to fed , cleant,  bathed , etc .
Admitted her in another associate home where we requested the nurse to look after her for which we pay Rs 5000 monthly plus pampers.
The lady was absolutely unclean,  long untidy nails , totally weak , malnourished and stressed.
In short a Dried vegetable .
To top it all she just could not sit at all and heavy cataract in one eye .
Totally on the bed.  Could not move at all.
Just like paralyzed.
This evening I inquired and was amazed at the report given .
The report was like this :
▪︎Mrs Kalpana ( name changed )
▪︎Eats by herself ,
▪︎Sits on a chair ,
▪︎Trys to do her own things ,
▪︎Moves her legs and hands ,
▪︎Much better that last 4 months when admitted
▪︎But still incapicated.
Badly requires a cataract operation as her one eye is totally blurred.
This lady can be a permanent case in our NGO as her family just refuses to take her back.
Like I said earlier, many such cases are existing at times in hospitals and their living condition is beyond human beings .
The system fails such poor human beings most of the time.
Most Old aged homes usually don't admitt such cases as they are homeless,  poor and penniless.
Next stop might be our NGO or just abandoned where they are, in hospitals.
Or may be some other shelter home might take in.
We as a society should take up such cases and provide help and comfort to such women.
Financial support is the most important .
Men no problem as we can handle and do accept all types of men irrespective of their medical condition provided the paper work is proper.
Government through the W&CD should support NGOs like ours which is constantly picking up and rehabilitating such women.
The Director of W&CD is a woman and I hope this message reaches her ears.
Funding has to be given in time by W&CD else such cases will keep piling up in hospitals.
Being a woman, the Director should understand better such issues.
If you are a Government Doctor , nurse   brother or medical worker in Goa and come across such abandoned women & men in your hospital,  do let me know through whatsapp on 8380097564.
Our NGO will surely help, incase of man, with rehabilitation and care.
In case of lady , we will try our level best depending on the medical condition.
But we will help .
Please support our NGO.

GETS OFF THE GOVERNMENT DISTRICT HOSPITAL MAPUSA THIS ELDERLY KERALITE MAN, MR VARGHESE

12.3.2022   7pm IST
If any one recognizes this old man please inform me .
STREET PROVIDENCE gets off the Government District hospital Mapusa this elderly Keralite man , Mr Varghese .
Mr Varghese was admitted , not sure by whom a couple of months back into GMC hospital.
Since he recovered and had no place to go and being old , he was transferred to District Hospital Mapusa .
Thank God that he did not reach the streets.
Since the Government Dr's & nurses are constantly referring such homeless people to our homes , Mr Varghese too reached our homes.
Few days ago we picked Mr Varghese from the hospital at Mapusa Goa.
Can't see , too weak and quite old.
But got a big attitude and a big mouth .
Infact he does not want to stay in our home and wishes to stay on a street.
Video of 3 min attached. 👇
We told him he can walk away whenever he wants from our home .
Says he has alot of customers as he used to cane chairs in his prime days .
But in reality he is not wanted by anyone .
That's why incase anyone knows him pls come and take him .
To tell the truth ” 6 months back I had received a call from a man in porvorim whose late father was helping him. ”
I cant recall that cell no nor the name of that man
I refused to take Mr Varghese because of his background and attitude .
But God has different plans and different ways and God found a way to get him into our home.
Today if I throw Mr Varghese out or drop him back on a street in my car ( which he is asking us to do ) then I will be going against the Will of God .
I tried 6 months back to avoid taking him , but i did not succeed.
God did not allow Mr Varghese to be on the streets.
Many times I have experienced such instances where I am reluctant to take in such men with attitude but some how they reach our home and we are looking after them even today.
Feel sad that such type of people are not wanted by anyone in their old age  but are used in their prime with no provision thought about for the future once they grow old and can't work .
Besides Mr Varghese , I am aware that there are quite a no of such people in Government hospitals abandoned and not going anywhere.
Just transfered from this hospital to that hospital.
I know one such case , where a goan lady is currently living inside a hospital for the last 16 years .
One goan man in an Institute is there last 30 to 35 years .
There is a Supreme Court order a few months back to an Institute to move out close to a 100 such people abandoned, into a Shelter home, but nothing happened.
They are still there .
We have volunteered to shelter them provided we are taken care of the expenses.
Awaiting for the authorities to respond.
We are trying to help as many as we can .
Health care in Goa for the poor , homeless and abandoned is taking a huge back seat especially those suffering from Disabilities.
I have a dossier of many such cases which will bring tears to your eyes.
But who cares ?
It's getting really tight as expenses are going thru the roof .

A MAGGOT INFECTED MAN WAS RESCUED TODAY FROM GOA VELHA MARKET GOA , TODAY

10.3.2022  7pm IST
A maggot infected man was rescued today from Goa Velha market Goa , today by Street Providence.
A Very very complicated case as well as a case of those from that area not concerned about the man whose leg is totally shattered and should be amputated.
The man has been literally loitering around for months if not years in that same locality and has been literally crawling on his buttocks.
Mind you , that area is a very frequented area with numerous establishments and religious houses in that area and no one saw him .
A good Samaritan Mr Agnelo Fernandes, a former coach of Vasco Sports Club and now Match Commissioner , from Goa Velha drew my attention yesterday to this homeless man.
And Agnelo followed up today non stop on how and when we can pick this man up.
At 3 pm today , Douglas & Asim reached the spot .
The man has not had bath for over a year,  100%.
Full of flies hovering over his body and in terrible pain and bad smell with maggots hovering in that foot .
Watch the 15 seconds video 👇
With great difficulty,  Asim cleant and bandaged the leg and then he was picked up and taken to our home .
Absolutely nothing on that leg , flesh is just hanging and bone exposed .
It's going to be extremely difficult for any one in our home to treat him.
The care givers had to bath him numerous times today just to kill the smell .
Tomorrow he will be taken to the hospital and then numerous trips up and down to fix his leg.
There is a big crisis across Goa of homeless people – men , ladies & children just roaming and living on the streets, signals , cities , beaches , everywhere.
With the New MLAs,  now elected , I hope each of these MLA try and attempt to clean the streets up in their constituencies of these homeless people before it becomes a crisis and the issues increases.
We can take in, into our home such cases if need be on case to case basis.
Priority men .
Women we are not that comfortable as our 2 homes are over loaded .
Too many requests daily , some times it's impossible to help .
Please when you see such cases , go to the local MLA and inform him .
Also contact the local Police station and get in touch witn me through whatsapp only on 8380097564.
I will advise you how to get help .
Only our one shelter home is Government funded and we have in total 8 such homes with very very complicated people from the streets.
Requests to pick and rehabilitate the homeless are mounting so also are the expenses as everything is getting very very expensive .
Please support our NGO.

TODAY INSTALLS A FOOD BANK FRIDGE @ PANJIM POLICE STATION

9 3.2022  7pm IST
FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR , SANGOLDA , GOA today Installs a food bank fridge @ Panjim Police Station to accept extra food for the poor.
This is our 6th such fridge in Police Stations across Goa .
♡♡ Thanks to Inspector , Mr Suraj Gawas , Panjim Police station, who has supported our idea of having a fridge right in the heart of the city , open 24 hours a day .
A small video in the above link of today fridge at Panjim Police station . 🖕
Panjim being a big city with numerous food outlets and establishments will always have extra food to give away .
Police stations are open 24 hours a day and one such fridge at the Police station @ Mapusa is daily receiving close to 30 kgs food which is very encouraging.
This fridge at Panjim Police station is right at the entrance.
When you drop food into any of our food bank fridges in Goa, it should be :
Packed in food grade plastic bags or
Non returnable containers like silver foil &
Food should not be hot &
Food should not be more than 1 day old as it will get spoilt.
All dropped in our fridges , 1st go to our shelter homes for our 100+ homeless people.
Then we Also give food to our other food bank fridges where our volunteers feed in villages and cities the hungry and poor .
At times we also share this food in other shelter homes and institutes who also take care of various types of poor people .
Approx 30% of food if vegetarian gets spoilt as that has no preservatives like vinegar to extend the life beyond 24 hours.
So please drop food into food bank fridges  as quickly as possible when you have that extra food.
We have fridges at the following Police stations:
☆ Calangute
☆ Mapusa
☆ Quepem
☆ Cuncolim
☆ Samguem &

THE ONLY NGO IN GOA THAT DESPITE KEEPING THEIR DOORS OPEN FOR ADMISSION THROUGHOUT COVID DIDN’T EXPERIENCE A SINGLE COVID RELATED DEATH IN OUR NGO

5.3.2022  8 pm  IST
STREET PROVIDENCE is the only NGO IN Goa that despite keeping their doors open for admission throughout  COVID did not experience a single COVID  related death in our NGO , nor was anyone hospitalized! Nor did we turn away a single person who came by asking for Shelter through proper channels.
During the last 2 years we  accepted 200  homeless people , despite the COVID threat looming over US.
List attached area wise as most admissions came through Goa Police stations.
When Covid 19 was declared a pandemic in  March 20  we stocked up all our Shelter Homes with rations and  gas cylinders to last for 3 months  ( this was done before complete lockdown was started ).
In April 2020 , we completely shut down all activities and introspected the  Covid related issues and how best to tackle the situation keeping in mind the safety of all our volunteers and residents
Shelter Homes were provided with   inhalation machines  and sanitizers .
Care givers were explained steps needed to be implemented to maintain good  hygiene .
Gargling & inhalation was compulsorily introduced 3 times a day and hot water was provided daily for drinking .
Since multivitamins like Vit C and Becosules are part of the daily medication for each resident since inception, their immunity is good.
TELEVISION  and Covid related news was limited to just a few minutes a day , to avoid the fear psychosis in the minds of Caregivers and residents.
Plenty of exercise and long hours of sleep was encouraged.
And I decided to take in as many people as there were many homeless  asking for help during the 1st and 2nd Wave.
We went all out keeping our homes open without the fear of getting covid.
Taking off so many people during such a serious pandemic is not an easy task.
But closing homes and asking people to find their own way during a pandemic is like a Doctor saying “you are sick now , but come back when you are better “.
By taking in so many homeless people  , we earned their blessings and good wishes and I believe these positive vibes and the blessings actually protected all our residents from COVID.
God hears the cries of the hungry  , helpless, homeless and the sick and uses willing  men to help those in need.
We rose up to the occasion and by the Grace of God  could admit into our Shelter Homes  many many people during the 1st wave and the long period of lockdown.
We created separate admission rooms to isolate the new comer for 14  days.
At  our Assnora Shelter Home ,we set up a  wooden cabin witrh an attached washroom costing Rs 4 lacs.
This cabin accommodated 5 persons at a time during the 14 days isolation period. After the quarantine period, they were shifted to the main Shelter Home and more homeless Street people were admitted. At the other Shelter Homes,  separate rooms were used for this quarantine period.
I am grateful  to all our employees and volunteers who assisted in the rehabilitation of these 200 homeless people during these last 2 years .
As I look back , it gives me great sense of understanding that believing PSALM 91 was one of the reasons for this UNBELIEVABLE achievement.
Faith without action is dead .
Its easy to instruct others how to do things but very difficult to implement especially with the fear of getting infected looming over all of us.
Who can forget the nightmarish experiences of those who needed hospitalisation?
But OUR NGO takes pride in the fact that we kept our doors open to the homeless and also went out  into streets, hospitals , police stations, etc to admit the weakest of the weak into our shelter homes , both men & ladies including children.
All this would not be possible without the continuing support and trust of  our Benefactors who donate generously towards our requirements whenever we  post on WhatsApp & other social media platforms and I am grateful to each and everyone of these unseen heroes and heroines!
We are fighters at our NGO …………. fighting to end Hunger & Homelessness in Goa .
Please support our NGO.
You get 50% rebate under section 80G of the

Thi6s IS ABOUT YOUNG BOY, MAYUR , EXACTLY 3 YEARS AGO WAS WANDERING ENDLESS IN LIFE

3.3.2022  7 pm IST  ( long post , must read )
How many of us often come across people on the streets , either in inhumane condition or in unclean clothes,  and conclude that these are MAD people.
Well most of us will fit this conclusion .
I too was one of them till May 2017.
But today you need to read this post , see the video and forward this to others in Goa.
Video attached. 👇
☆ This young boy , Mayur , exactly 3 years ago was wandering endless in life and was totally lost in mind and physically drained in body .
Picture attached.
Was sitting for over 24 hours on a bus stop right outside our office at sangolda.
I took him in and it turned out to be a disaster .
Mayur would tend to spit every minute in the home or rather he would perform the action of spitting which was very very dirty and irritating to the rest
Complicated nature at that time,  would spit , put his hands in cooked food , serve himself alot of food and then waste food , feed good food to the cat in the home , ask endless questions or just IRRITATE ( that's why I wrote in bold letters
Took him endlessly to doctors but very slow progress.
Twice or thrice he even ran away from our shelter home then again came back crying and we took him in .
During the 1st wave in May 2020 he again appeared from now where, dirtier than ever .
He one day walked from Cavelossim to Porvorim as he had last ran away from Cavelossim home.
Feeing sad we took him in
From March 2020 , there has been an entire new set of team members and staff and Mayur gradually gelled well and started showing signs of improvement.
Today,  I can call MAYUR a ” COMPOUNDER “.
A COMPOUNDER job at Street Providence is the most difficult and its a high pressure job .
It's the COMPOUNDER job to give daily medications,  three times a day to fellow people in the home and if not give properly,  there are immediately issues of people losing their bearings & nuts in the home .
Most of our people are under suffering from mental issues some severe and any variation or disruption in medication will turn any rehabilitation home upside down.
Mayur , himself takes his medicine faithfully and gives medicines at times to over 30 such men .
Mayur understands,  to beat his sickness , he needs to be active , responsible,  alert and hardworking.
Anything less than that will take him now where.
He also assists in alot of other household jobs but being a COMPOUNDER he has the most difficult job to perform.
Mayur is educated and can read and write English and Hindi.
Mayur is rejected and not accepted back home by his parents for many many reasons.
We quite often dial his mother number and son speaks to his mother .
It will take alot of time to heal those wounds.
The parents can't believe that their son has improved so much , but that's the reality .
Mayur understands that if he ever is accepted back home , he needs to get better and better and that will only happen if he stays in a shelter home where there are rules and regulations and no alcohol , pan , tobacco , etc.
He understands the pain one goes thru on the streets as compared to a shelter Home.
He started reading books , newspapers etc.
He also gets along well when a new admission comes in as it reminds him if how he was and how he is now .
He is a ONE of THE BEST MEN WHO HAS COME OUT OF DEPRRSSION & MENTAL ISSUES & that makes us proud at our NGO .
In our NGO we take in the most complicated and rejected cases .
We have a 90% recovery rate for people suffering from namy years with severe depression and mental issues.

GETS OFF THE STREETS JUST OUTSIDE GMC , BAMBOLIM , UNDER THE FLYOVER/ SUBWAY

2.3.2022   7pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA today gets off the streets just outside GMC , Bambolim , under the flyover/ subway , this young man .
Yesterday we were informed that,  there is a young man in a sad state, looking very hopeless and lost .
Sapnesh and team went to meet him yesterday evening.
Video attached. 👇
Today morning , Douglas with his team , along with the consent and support from Goa Police @ Agassiam Police Station got him off the streets and into our home .
Bit shaken, stressed , lonely,  rejected and unsure what his next step is .
Will take a few days to get back to being stable.
If not picked up today , his medical condition would further deteriorate .
Sad state of affairs and he says he has been loitering around last 15 days as his family is not accepting him .
We request you to be compassionate towards such homeless people and help them by complaining to the nearest police station and also sending me a whatsapp message .
We are accepting such people into our shelter homes provided they don't require hospitalization.
Please support our NGO generously.
You get 50% rebate under section 80G of the
INCOME TAX act, once you donate to our NGO.
We accept only CHEQUES / NEFT with your pan card copy .
