PROVIDES REHABILITATION TO THIS ABANDONED, PARTIALLY BLIND LADY

7.11.2020 7 pm IST

STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA provides rehabilitation to this abandoned, partially blind lady whose name we dont know, who has been sitting right outside the hospital on a payment for over 7 days ( so we will call her Shanti from today .)
Picture attached.
♡ Thanks to Adv Vijayta who works with Adv Caroline who spotted this lady and tried a lot to help her .
It looks like the abandoned frightened lady is partially blind and that has increased her isolation more .
♡ Big thanks to Mapusa Police personnel who broke their heads in trying to get this lady off the streets as well as getting her to speak something as well as getting her to do the swab test for COVID 19.
Police admitted her into our home with an NOC and the name is not mentioned.
♡ Thanks to Josephine from Amazing Grace Guirim who has volunteered to shelter Shanti on our behalf till we can shift her to our home .
Our SALIGAO home is already full and the Guirim home will take time to be operational .
Cant imagine how for over 7 days she sat on that footpath day and night with a bedsheet over her head .
Was taken today to Vision hospital Mapusa but lady refused to co operate and infact covered her face with the mask.
So Monday we will examine her with a psychiatric Doctor.
Very frustrating and tiring to deal with such cases.
Not sure how we are going to deal with Shanti as she justs groans and moans and does answer a word nor speak a word.
Must be surely traumatized with her rejection .
Incase any one recognizes her let us know .
Attached a picture of her before we found her and after we accepted her into the home .
Sad to see such innocent ladies left on the streets to fend for themselves during this pandemic.
Looking for lady caregivers who can offer their time and effort to tend to such homeless woman .
If you have it in you to love and care for homeless street woman than its time to start .
If you have lost your job or are just unable to get a break through then give your time may be even for 1 month towards these homeless people in our woman home.
But its 24 × 7.
No leaving the home as such woman require constant care and attention.
You can attempt to look after such homeless ladies just for 1 month in our woman home .
You and your family will be blessed abundantly.
We will reimburse you with a stipend and all facilities will be provided to you .
Homeless people are always related to hospitals and endless hospitals trips .
Due to COVID all the more we need to be careful .
Government hospitals ruled out so we need to get them to private hospitals.
Costs keep rising but that does not stop us from looking after such people.
Your donations, blessing , contributions make us go beyond our expectations.
Support us in whatever may you wish.
We offer you income tax exemptions on all your donations under section 80G.

WISHES SR VELANGINI MARY a SAFE AND PLEASANT JOURNEY ON HER TRANSFER FROM GOA .

6.11.2020 7 pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA wishes Sr Velangini Mary a safe and pleasant journey on her transfer from Goa .
Sr Velangini Mary a well seen face at JMJ Hospital Porvorim Bardez Goa for those who are aware of this hospital is a professional nurse and was the de facto boss at JMJ Hospital.
I personally as part of Street Providence have alot to thank her on behalf of our homeless street people in our homes.
Sr Velangini Mary has always gone out of her way to accommodate our homeless people in many many ways .
Especially our woman home has felt her kindness and generosity.
Be it sending their nurses to our woman home for blood test or any other test free of cost at short notice .
Be it discounts on the Bill's.
Be it credit facility.
Be it cheque payment.
Be it deferred payment.
Never once did the hospital ever call us to pay the Bill's .
Sr Velangini Mary has always said Yes .
Infact during the Covid 19 lockdown,
Sr Velangini Mary allowed us to admit a homeless lady at JMJ HOSPITAL when a couple of others refused due to the COVID.
But that is what a nurse is bound by .
Service to the poor , needy and homeless.
We @ Street PROVIDENCE will miss
Sr Velangini Mary and her generosity and we wish her a Safe Journey to her new work place where she is transferred.
It took me many days to get a smiling picture of Sr Velangini Mary .
If any one came across Sr Velangini Mary appearance in JMJ hospital , one must have felt her strict nature .
But below that strict look , I can vouch for humanity and consideration to the poorest of the poor .
Especially during the 2018 flood relief for Kerala , Sr Velangini Mary supported our drive by allowing her hospital to officially collect medicines for the relief work.
Again during the COVID 19 lockdown,
Sr Velangini Mary was generous and donated a big cheque to our NGO which left me wondering how such strict nun, yet can think about the hungry and homeless.
Inspite of my high hardness nature and undiplomatic approach , i have come across many such nuns from different congregations who have supported our projects both in the form of donations through cheques and through kind.
Sr Velangini Mary is one of these NUNS who has made me change my thinking & my approach of being a GIVER & a SOWER.
I will surely feel the absence of Sr Velangini Mary at JMJ Hospital , but I am assured in my mind that the facility and benefits we we receiving through JMJ hospital will still be continued.
The most difficult part in any NGO which runs free rehabilitation homes is ” hospital trips and hospitalization “.
The bills are enough to rip you and your pocket apart.
I dread the thought whenever any one falls sick and we need to admitt into a hospital.
Homeless street people and hospitals are 2 parts of the same coin.
Let's all who have come across
Sr Velangini Mary at JMJ HOSPITAL pray for her good health and long life, to carry on doing good for the poorest of the poor in her new posting .
God bless you

STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA presents today our Womans Home for the homeless and the abandoned at Saligao. ( Sanjoe Niwas ).
A home run by Street Providence & supported by FMCK nuns who are the care givers.
A small and compact home is how I can describe this place.
Its over 2 years that the home is providing shelter to woman abandoned on the streets of Goa.
Almost all the woman in this home have been routed and admitted by Goa Police .
♡ Thanks to the Provincial of FMCK ,
Sr Vandana for the support and initiative of opening up this home for the homeless and allowing a lay organisation like us to use their premises for a genuine purpose
♡ Thanks to the local Superior, Sr Esmeralda of Sanjoe Niwas & her team of Nuns including a full time nurse who are doing a fantastic job of looking after these abandoned women.
Not an easy job at times.
Hospital trips are the biggest challenges.
This home Is almost full and no new admission can be allowed any more.
Max if Sr Esmeralda permits we can admitt 2 more ie 12 ladies which I will be happy with .
Home has 5 goan ladies and 5 non goan ladies.
Home is well equipped with all facilities and gadgets .
This home is only in need of a :
☆ Television &
☆ Microwave
At the moment Nothing else is required.
♡ Thanks to Lorrain from Saligao who daily provides fresh breakfast and the entire Sunday meals .
Rest of the week , we get meals from NAVTARA group of Restaurants, under the coupon scheme ” Pay It Forward “.
So next time you eat a meal at Navtara , purchase 1 coupon & drop it please in the box and be re assured that your blessing is going to right place .
Our 2nd woman home for homeless & abandoned street woman at Guirim is almost ready and should be operational in a few weeks from now .
That's for another post .
Attached a picture of the beautiful ladies in this home who are given the best that we can offer .
This home at Saligao will always require:
☆ Single Bedsheets
☆ Towels
☆ Nighties
☆ Ladies under garments
Other type of clothing not required so please dont even ask .
Imagine how many such more ladies are out there, lost , lonely, waiting for eternity, harassed, mocked, taunted , stoned , beaten and hounded all the time .
That's the reason God inspired us to start another home at Guirim for those other homeless street woman still on the streets of Goa plus those ladies who are completely immobile and are on the bed.
Your donations, blessing , contributions make us go beyond our expectations.
Support us in whatever may you wish.
We offer you income tax exemptions on all your donations under section 80G.

He was desperately looking for a break and for many years he just could not get a job and I believe God had better plans for him through our Food Bank .
▪︎5. Mrs Maria is the lady who prepares our breakfast ( and now lunch ) in Mapusa & Panjim area.
She Operates with us on a very very less margin and at times no profit .
A lady full of laughter and clatter and always has a broad smile .
Simple Goan woman with a heart to feed the hungry and homeless.
For us at the FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA its always about volunteers and not about Donald Fernandes
I am not a media savvy person and I don't promote myself but for me it's always the volunteers and care givers.
To be successful and to sustain a FOOD BANK on the lines that we have been running for over 3 years , you need to take the back seat and get the best out of your volunteers.
The moment you glorify yourself and feel that you doing everything, the slide starts.
Too much self glorification is not good.
I am just the tool or caretaker of these projects.
All motivation, inspiration, implementation is from God and guided by the HOLY SPIRIT strictly though the WORD .
Otherwise it's just not possible to run the race non stop which we do at STREET PROVIDENCE GOA.
Once we start lunch and MOW in Margao , we will be daily feeding about 1000 people everyday .
Will be also starting Dinner at all major Government hospitals later.
We would love to extend our MEALS ON WHEELS ( MOW) to all 14 municipalities of Goa as homeless people are mostly found in cities.
MOW will one day be breakfast lunch dinner
Once we cover all 14 municipalities for
Breakfast, lunch, dinner & MOW the number will easily be close to 5000 meals a day in total .
To reach this figure I need to be POOR IN SPIRIT .
Now u must be thinking about the funding .
Wait till you get the next post in a day or two .
Support us in any way you wish .
We accept donations though cheque/ NEFT
We offer 80 G exemptions on all your donations along with your pan card copy.

FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA PRESENTS YOU 3 OF OUR ACTIVE FOOD BANK FRIDGES IN GOA.

30.10.2020 7pm IST
FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA presents you 3 of our Active Food Bank Fridges in Goa.
Prior to the lockdown ie 21.3.2020 , we @ FOOD BANK GOA had 38 fridges installed in Goa daily picking up & moving about 1500kgs – 2000 kgs to these fridges daily.
The lockdown caused alot of hardships as the total food collection stopped for almost 3 months.
But now as the relaxation has started, we are now daily getting about 400 kgs of food which we use :
☆ 200 kgs for our rehabilitation homes ,
☆ 100 kgs for the active operating fridges
☆ 50 kgs to old aged homes & orphanage
☆ 50 kgs wastage or spoilage .
The attached 3 pictures are of the active fridges run by FMCK congregation at :
♡ 1. Old Goa
♡ 2. POMBPURPA
♡ 3. Panjim @ piedade institute .
▪︎1. The fridge at Old Goa stands out, as it has been running ( even during the pandemic ) for close to 3 years .

The nuns at old GOA have a fixed set of poor goan families from that area who daily get food from this fridge.

▪︎2. The fridge at POMBPURPA in Bardez shut down from March till early Oct , but is now back on track and caters to alot of poor labourers in that area .

This fridge has been operating for the last 2 years and is run by the FMCK nuns .

▪︎3. The fridge at Panjim @ piedade institute is just started and I am sure the FMCK nun was inspired to start this fridge after seeing the other 2 fridges serving the poor and hungry
For those in the above areas, you can always drop extra food in plastic bags in these fridges so that a poor family might be able to eat a meal.
All food is always checked & Incase the food is not up to the mark , our volunteers usually dispose the food off as waste.
We are now on track to reactivate in the month of November at least 20 more of our FOOD BANK fridges in different parts of GOA .
As most of our food bank volunteers are senior citizens, we understand that they need to take precaution due to the pandemic.
If you wish to start such a food bank fridge in Goa then WhatsApp me on 8380097564.
After we evaluate the location as well as the possibility of running such a fridge, we will get back to you.
Our food bank fridge programme is a process where we deal in bulk food packets and we supply food in bulk to deserving families .
We are totally depending only on donations.
Your support is extremely important to Street Providence to do what best we are called to do .
Support us in any way you wish .
We accept donations though cheque/ NEFT
We offer 80 G exemptions on all your donations along with your pan card copy.

28.10.2020 7pm IST

feeding the hungry,
treating them for their medical issues &
more importantly ensuring our shelter home people are happy.
Easy to believe but very complicated and difficult to implement .
Our homeless people have lived a major part of their lives , unloved and uncared for by their families and society at large
Having fun is the one aspect they are not too familiar with.
Watch the 3 min video .
☆ WhatsApp your views and suggestions
They have probably seen this kind of fun in the movies they watch. Many might have wished they could experience these moments
Hence Street PROVIDENCE staff and volunteers came up with the idea of organising a FUNDAY for the homeless men in our Margao Shelter Home.
Our shelter home people were encouraged to participate in the merriment alongwith our volunteers.
Below is a short video clip of this FUNDAY
Few days back there was a similar video which was circulated.
We will continue with these FUNDAYS in all our homes and especially during the festive seasons of Diwali and Christmas.
Small reminder :
Our appeal on DONATEKART expires in 3 days from today.
Thanks to all who have donated on our appeal on DONATEKART especially during the last 24 hours .

PRESENTS YOU IN THIS POST A DAY SPENT BY OUR HOMELESS MEN.

25.10.2020 11am IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA presents you in this post a day spent by our homeless men.
Attached A video of just 3 min, which will speak it all.
The men are all found on the streets of Goa.
The house infrastructure is very basic.
A couple of men are not in a proper frame of mind being long time on the streets, in hunger and stress and as a result they have no control over their bowels movement.
This makes the Care givers job very challenging.
A visit to our homes will move tears in your eyes just looking at these men and understanding their past .
But we carry on service as that's the calling .
We now have a full time young ( girl ) nurse supervising, treating and caring for these men in all our homes along with our Trustee and volunteers .
We struggle at times to provide food clothing shelter and rehabilitation.
We have many staff like drivers, the nurse , managers, whose salaries and other daily expenses, like mounting fuel bills which need to be paid monthly .
Expenses mount, but MY GOD supplies all our needs through people like you reading this post .
Do you feel that urge that God is talking to you and inspiring you to be a blessing to the homeless.
And this is just 1 set of daily activity with these volunteers and care givers as seen in the video in just 1 home.
We have various sets of volunteers, activities, expenses going on daily, like :
1. Free daily breakfast outside all major Government hospitals in GOA by 1 set of volunteers In Mapusa , Bambolim , Margao.

2. Another set of drivers & volunteers daily collect excess fresh food from various restaurants, hotels, bakeries and move it to various food bank fridges across Goa where the poor are given a decent meal as well as to all our 8 homes to feed all our 100+ homeless people.

3. Another set of volunteers are practically daily taking our sick people from our homes to various doctors and hospitals.

4. Another set of volunteers distribute dry ration every month to 250 HIV infected families which is provided by us and getting this organized both financially and physically is very time consuming.

5. One set of volunteers take care of all paper work, admissions and medical requirements and follow up on the sick in our homes.

6. In between there is constant request for food , medical equipment, medicines, dry ration etc from different parts of Goa which 1 set of volunteers work on.
Support our work through DONATEKART, an online site to raise resources for groceries for the above running projects.
