TODAY OUR MANAGER MR. SAPNESH SALGAONKAR PICKED GOAN MAN UP RIGHT OUTSIDE THE COMPOUND WALL OF DMC COLLEGE ASSAGAO.

30.4.2023  7Pm IST
This Goan man Mr LEOPOLD from Camurlim Bardez has been living on the streets for quite some months.
Today our Manager Mr Sapnesh Salgaonkar picked him up right outside the compound wall of DMC college Assagao.
Sapnesh has been seeing Mr LEOPOLD sitting, sleeping and living right on the road last 7 days & today he just could not see him In this unbeatable heat anymore.
Infact last Sunday, Mr LEOPOLD was spotted in Assagao area on the road and Mr Felly Gomes who had posted on his wall.
Mr LEOPOLD Is suffering I assume from mental disabilities and has practically no one look after him at his home in CAMURLIM.
Poverty , loneliness, uneducated,  sickness and may be troubled by others who make fun or threw stones on such people making them move from place to place non stop.
Infact last Sunday I assume Goa Police @ Anjuna police station picked him up and dropped him home which made him again walk and that's how this entire week he is sleeping under a tree right on the road.
I have myself LEOPOLD many many times over the last 1 year roaming and walking endlessly but as usual ” we are all occupied in our own lives that such people are not my problem ”
It's a system gone out of control.
And at times our services towards rehabilitation of the homeless with disabilites are questioned
Today our shelter home has 100 , yes 100 + such ethnic GOANS picked up from streets,  hospitals,  market places who have no one to go back to .
Yes no one at all.
Since they are on medication for mental disabilities and have no one to give them their medications, they reach the streets.
Today close to 500 such ethnic GOANS are on the streets due to their mental sickness.
And I have strong proof to support this no.
191 villages & 14 municipalities.
Just take 2 per village and 10 per municipality.
And these nos are rising really fast.
We are getting calls and requests daily from many people but we can't reply or please all.
All our homes are already over loaded and it's getting really difficult.
Tuesday,  Mr Leopold will be taken to the IPHB for an assessment and will be treated for stability.
My one request never doubt our work just because one thinks in Goa there r no poor people
It depends where you are living and how you are traveling in Goa.
One only understands pain when one cuts one own finger.
We are the only NGO in Goa , continously accepting homeless and abandoned poor goans with disabilities into our shelter homes.
Your support plays a big part in our work towards caring for the homeless and the abandoned.
God bless you all

It's a small gesture from our food bank towards the poorest of the poor on LABOUR DAY .
Usually we feed daily approx 1000 meals in Goa through our Food Bank round the year all 12 months last 5 years.
But on labour day it's just ab attempt to reach out across different parts of Goa through our volunteers and team members.
A small meal to bring a little smile on the poor and the labour class.

AFTER 2 MONTHS OF REHABILITATION AND PHYSIOTHERAPY, THIS IS THE SAME LADY STANDING STRAIGHT AND WALKING BY HERSELF

27.4.2023. 7pm IST
Exactly 2 months back this old  abandoned homeless lady was on a wheel chair and could not even stand straight.
This is the link of the post we had uploaded on that day when we accepted her on 3.3.23.
Today afte 2 months of rehabilitation and Physiotherapy,  this is the same lady standing straight and walking by herself.👇👇
The lady speaks only TELUGU  & was referred to our home from CHICALIM HEALTH CENTRE.
Wheel chair bound and with a walker to move around .
Weak stressed and metal plates in her leg.
Inspite of her being on a pamper and wheel chair bound we accepted her into the home.
Today she walks perfectly well, has a bath by herself, uses the washroom and very quite and peaceful .
BUT ONLY SPEAKS TELUGU , which we don't understand.
But the show goes on.
Such people once discharged from hospital will surely be crawling and begging on the streets to survive if no one puts them in a shelter home.
Our NGO has accepted and still rehabilitates so many such men & women from the streets who might have been begging to survive.
Sad state for such old homeless abandoned ladies living either on streets or admitted in hospitals.
Not an easy task for most of the other old  Homes but @ Street Providence it's A DREAM WE DARE TO DREAM.
3 of our 4 ladies shelter homes have affectionate and loving NUNS who are supported by rehabilitated street women who assist in taking care of pamper and wheel chair bound ladies.
Infact in 2 of our ladies homes we Have employed SEMI PROFESSIONAL NURSES who have done 1 year nursing course as FULL TIME CARE GIVERS.
As of today we are providing care to close to 60 homeless ladies of which 50 of them are on psychiatric treatment.
It takes alot of MOTIVATION, COMMITMENT. TIME , ENERGY & RESOURCES to rehab the homeless especially THE LADIES.
Our NORTH GOA , lady Physiotherapist,
Miss Charmaine puts in alot of effort at our SANGOLDA CLINIC to help such wheel chair bound homeless people get back to their feet.
Your support and encouragement is what keeps our team going on and on , day after day.
At Street Providence it's all about TEAM WORK.
God bless you all

We have created this GIVING BACK BANK as you and us can fill in the gaps with the poor by we accepting your extra items and you giving away in SYSTEMATIC & laid down procedures the above mentioned items.
You need to understand that you are not doing a FAVOUR by giving away your items but you are doing a SERVICE towards your fellow Indians who may and surely are not as blessed as you since you are blessed to give away your extra items for a cause and to the poorest of the poor.
To reduce poverty we need to help the poor get an education and to go-to school, poor children in rural parts needs note books,  school bags , water bottles, shoes, clothes, Etc

YESTERDAY WITHIN FLAT 20 HOURS WE TOOK IN 3 HOMELESS & ABANDONED LADIES THROUGH GOA POLICE

23.4.23  3 pm IST
Yesterday within flat 20 hours we @ STREET PROVIDENCE GOA, took in 3 homeless & abandoned ladies through Goa Police @ Colvale, Anjuna & Vasco stations.
Infact at 9 pm yesterday there was another,
4th  request again through Colvale cops but we had to refuse as it was too stressful.
☆ Case 1 we had uploaded yesterday and today the cops dropped her back across the border.
☆ Case 2.
This is a goan senior citizen from NAGOA Bardez
Tai Deepa Bugde.
Says she is lonely and her husband died and was staying on rent.
Due to medical issues was admitted in District hospital Mapusa and later on shifted to GMC for an eye cataract operation.
On completing the operation she came back to District Hospital which caught the attention of the cops who did the necessary paperwork and we took her in last night at 8pm.
Just in case anyone recognises her.
☆ Case 3
This Rajasthani woman Madhu Kashyap was picked up by Vasco police as she was begging / living on the streets @ 4 pm.
We were requested to provide rehabilitation which we agreed.
At 8.30 pm , She was dropped at our Cavelossim shelter home by the Vasco Police.
With 4 men's & 4 women's shelter homes across both districts in Goa , we are continously requested by many to rehabilitate and care for the old , the homeless,  the bed ridden , the people with mental & physical disabilities as well as genuine poor goans , which we do.
And all our homes are strategically located for any police station in Goa to drop the homeless.
Tomorrow Monday 24.4 23 , we have 3 men to be rehabilitated from the Government Hospital of which one is a old goan man who has been living in this hospital for over a year and crawls on his legs and hands.
Currently we hold about 170 such people of which 70 % are ETHNIC GOANS ie about 105 are poor goans in our homes.
We don't have any issues in taking in the homeless but space is getting to be a big constraint.
Of the 170 inmates, about 150 are treated and cared for absolutely free all because of LOVELY, COMMITTED & CARING BENEFACTORS who send in their donations Month after month,  year after year.
As of today only one of our women shelter home gets government funding.
Its difficult but not impossible.
♡♡♡ WE DARE TO DREAM ♡♡♡
Running a complicated operation @  Street Providence Goa is a dream which is possible due to :
☆ Grace & favour of God,
☆ Our trustees,
☆ Our committed & dedicated staff,
☆ Caring caregivers , not professional but highly committed witn hard core experience.
☆ Endless volunteers across Goa,
☆ Superb unwritten support from the Government,
☆ Generous & committed BENEFACTORS
Most of the Goan homeless people in our homes are having genuine sad and horrible life experiences and stories which they have gone through & which makes one wonder ” how does such people actually live if there was no shelter home to care for them “.
Your support through prayers, wishes,  donations or just even if you forward our messages to near and dear one is welcomed.
God bless you all

ACCEPTS THIS YOUNG HOMELESS ABANDONED MAHARASHTRIAN LADY BROUGHT BY COLVALE POLICE STATION

22.4.2023. 7pm IST
☆ Case no 1

STREET PROVIDENCE GOA accepts this young homeless abandoned  Maharashtrian lady brought by Colvale police station very late night at 12.30 am .
A case of extremely sad state of affairs ( which I can't write here).
We could have rejected the request on the spot but on humanitarian grounds we took her in.
Infact I suspected a major health issue as the initial medical check up by the Police took alot of time.
And for over 3 hours various teams of ours consisting of 6 staff including an 80 year old nun who runs our shelter home was waiting right from 9,30 pm till 12.30 am to accept this lady.
In the last 5 years of our rehabilitation program of the homeless, this is only the 2nd lady who we have accepted with such a medical issue and who is facing and going through the worst form of a trouble which no lady should ever experience.
Being poor is one part,  but being in a situation where this lady has to suffer for no fault of hers is cruel and we as an NGO can only support her through her difficult situation temporarily.
I am sure she has walked from Kudal in Maharashtra to Goa in the last 7 days and is going to mental agony coupled with the heat, Hunger and rejection of being NOW WHERE.
It's really nice and HUMANE on the part of COLVALE POLICE STATION to get this lady off the streets after she might have been walking last 7 days.
Her last night medical check up done raised RED FLAGS & so today our team took her again for a complete and through check up.
Too weak and undernourished.
Infact she even just collapsed in the hospital during the medical check up today due to weakness,  stress and tiredness.
Monday another check up and assessment to help her sort put her troubles and then we will get the police to take her home.
She says its a living dungeon back home and I can't decide how best to help her as she might just walk away if she is dropped back Home  and end up in more troubles.
Some times it's difficult to refuse admission and some times I am forced to take tough decisions.
In this case the lady will have to be sent back with the Police to her native place or to a hospital for her medical issues.
Infact I personally called up the Dysp of Sawantwadi jurisdiction and explained that this lady has health issues and we can't keep her in the shelter Home please locate the family.
Rehabilitation and providing medical and other services is okay.
But this lady problem is with her health & the issue is beyond our NGO capacity.
If you see such homeless ladies in Goa on bus stops, railway stations, gardens or just wandering endlessly PLEASE CALL THE POLICE.
Police are bound to get help to these homeless genuine ladies on the streets.
God bless you all

WE TOOK IN MR SUSHIL FROM DISTRICT HOSPITAL MAPUSA WHERE HE WAS ADMITTED FOR OVER 12 DAYS.

20.4.2023. 7pm IST
Alcohol has taken away his family , his wife and almost now his life.
This Maharashtrain man Mr Sushil Falke has been drinking so much that he has ended up in a hospital and become so weak that he can't even stand leave alone walk.
2 days back we took in Mr Sushil fron District hospital Mapusa where he was admitted for over 12 days.
Attached a 10 sec video of him in the hospital 👇👇
Mr Sushil was married. & also has a brother, who has his own family in pune and Sushil being married still made alcohol his 1st love which made his wife leave him and his brother too is fed up of him drinking.
Has been working in a restaurant in CALANGUTE for over 7 to 8 years as a utility worker but has continued to drink.
Totally weak and might require a mental check up later on once he stabilizes.
Presently on a wheel chair and on Pampers.
In about 6 months from now Sushil will be fit and fine and will have regained his strength as our rehabilitation and detoxification program is a 6 months period where recovery is assured so that he can walk and work again.
We appreciate the District hospital Mapusa for taking care to route this man to a shelter home rather than just discharging him back to no where.
Thanks to our voluntrer Mrs Sheela Viegas from Duler who spotted this man and realized he needs rehabilitation.
Mrs Sheela daily scouts the hospital to see if any genuine homeless require help and rehabilitation and then reports such cases to our manager and the MS of the hospital.
At Street Providence it's all about TEAM WORK , CO ORDINATON, COMMUNICATIONS & COMMITMENT.
These coming few days we are focusing our energy on many abandoned homeless in government hospitals who just might need a hand to restart their lives.
If any Government Doctors, Nurses, etc working in hospitals know of such homeless abandoned people please contact us .
We just might be able to help
God bless you so much

A SENIOR CITIZEN GOAN LADY FROM NAVELIM GOES OUT OF THEIR WAY TO GET THIS VERY OLD KERALITE MAN LIVING ON THE STREETS

18.4.23. 7pm IST
A senior citizen Goan lady from NAVELIM
Mrs Roseline & her husband goes out of their way to get this very old Keralite man living on the streets of Navelim to our shelter home yesterday.
Mrs Roseline has been the GOOD SAMARITAN.
Mr Mathew Charien must be 75 years plus old and feeble , begging and staying on the streets of Navelim church for some time now.
His identity says ELAPULLY , SCB , ELAPULLY (PO ) KERALA.
Mrs Roseline has been been seeing him quite often outside the church every morning like so many other church goers
That's the CRUX of this post .
We see the poor and abandoned and just move away , as its just not my problem or my relative.
We as a Society need to change our views about the old and the homeless and take some time from all our tight schedules to see that they reach either a hospital or a home.
Its never going to be easy for anyone wanting to help the homeless get a shelter but in Goa we @ Street Providence are going all out to take in the GENUINE HOMELESS.
Mrs Roseline has brought many such homeless men & women in the last 5 years from the vicinity of Navelim church to our shelter homes.
We accepted him after verification and paperwork was done by the Goa Police.
His wife died a few years back, no children , was staying on rent in kerala and now to survive I assume and understand he is begging from.city to city.
Very depressing and unfortunate to see this old man state on the streets of Goa.
Has high pressure @ 175 and high diabetics
@ 280 and being so long on the streets all alone and stressed for food and shelter is not easy especially for the old feeble man.
Usually once you are on the streets the younger men rob and demand money from these elderly homeless men and if they don't give them at night their share then they hit them and push and abuse them.
Working on the streets with the homeless for many years, I have discovered and understood many many issues the homeless face especially the old and the feeble.
It's a nightmare if you are an outsider in the state and even worse if you are old and can't defend yourself.
Its going to be a bit difficult to stabilise him as he is in a home where by he was used to roaming around and getting money for food and may be ” medicine to drink ” which is not available in our home.
Till he detoxifies and gets along with the other men and drinks alot of water we will have to be careful about his pressure and diabetics.
Another point Is the heat as that's the worrying issue in all our mens home as most of the men are feeling uncomfortable as the heat is terrible off late.
We feel happy that our shelter homes are providing relief and rehabilitation to so many homeless people in Goa continously supported by so many GENEROUS BENEFACTORS.
We are overloaded and all the 3 big men's home are crowded but are still taking in men as the heat is killing out there in Goa and some how we squeeze the resources and the facilities especially the sleeping area and the washroom facilities but no homeless is refused admission.
You can support us through your prayers, wishes, blessings, donations or even by just forwarding our work to your near and dear ones.
God bless you so much

THE GIVING BACK BANK BY STREET PROVIDENCE.

17.4.23 7pm IST
THE GIVING BACK BANK BY STREET PROVIDENCE
We are collecting clothes including childrens , all types of shoes including childrens ,school bags , tiffin boxes, compass boxes, mattresses, beds, Sinks, bathroom accessories, furniture , kitchen equipment, utensils , electrical & electronic equipment etc.
The above mentioned itens should be in good useable condition fit enough to be given back to the Society to those who are poor and downtrodden.
You name it we might take it . But pay us a donation in kind (attached in the poster ) or in cheque .
If you reading this post wish to help the poorest of the poor in Goa & India and are ready to pay us to take all the above then please go on reading this post .
Lots and lots of poor families in Goa & India might be in need of the above listed items which we intend to collect.
Everybody wants to find places to offload their clothes & other house hold items
But the costs involved in :
Collecting clothes & other items
Storing clothes & other items
Segregating & packing material
Transporting these items to the villages
Then redistributing in the villages,
This costs alot of time , energy, Logistics & huge manpower.
We have taken on rent huge Godowns to store all these items round the year which again the Rents have to be paid.
And no one is going to do this free and neither can an NGO bear all these costs plus one requires huge manpower.
I have been to so many villages in rural Imdia where poor children come to school with slippers , worn out or torn shoes, no proper uniform , old school bags , at times poor parents might not be able to buy note books,  no compass box, etc.
I have seen endless families sleeping on plain hard grounds and wet floors, having no proper washrooms, etc.
And here in Goa we are super blessed to be having one of the best facilities lin all fields compared to rural parts of India especially in infrastructure , education and Healthcare which Goa has the best.
And usually all the above mentioned items just reach the dustbin which otherwise could bring smiles to hundreds if not thousands of poor children and poor families.
And we were all taught in schools ” ALL INDIANS ARE MY BROTHERS & SISTERS…..”.
So if you feel and think like me then you should be part of this drive by not only WISHING OR INTENDING TO DONATE all your old but good stuff but also Pay us to take from you and give ahead to the poor and needy across Goa & India.
Be generous in allowing your GOOD CLOTHES & OTHER HOUSE HOLD ITEMS to reach a poor family or your school items to reach a poor child.
Surely you will never know where your items have gone but that poor child or poor family will be blessing you as your GOOD CLOTHES , SHOES & HOUSE HOLD ITEMS have brightened up the lives of our fellow INDIANS.
Usually we think and understand that old aged homes and shelter homes require only old clothes, WHICH is very wrong and not acceptable
Old aged homes and shelter homes need food and medications daily and not old clothes as well as bills to be paid monthly.
We as an NGO are primarily focused on :
☆ 1. running 8 shelter Homes for the abandoned & we accept and take in all old people. Homeless street people and poor goan people suffering from Disabilities.
☆ 2. food banks for hungry where we accept daily 500 kgs of  extra cooked food In our fridges
We now are going to support thousands of poor children and hundreds of poor families through our new project of collecting clothes , all types of shoes , school bags , tiffin boxes, compass boxes, mattresses, beds, Sinks, bathroom accessories, furniture , kitchen equipment, electrical & electronic equipment etc through our new project THE GIVING BACK BANK.
Through the above collection we can also reduce the HUGE stress of garbage issue which is increasing daily.
But you need to give us your support to recover the costs of accepting and collecting all the above items from your doorstep.
You CAN'T drop anything to any of our shelter homes or our office or godown without an appointment and without the free items included in the poster attached with this post.
Please don't give silly excuses I was passing by so I brought or someone told me you are accepting so I brought.
All our homes,  offices and Godowns are on CCTV so please be aware.
Give CHEERFULLY & PAY us to redistribute it ahead to the poor and needy.
If you find this post not suited to your needs please delete it and sorry, but we can't accept anything without your donation even if the things are GOOD , NEW & UNUSED.
Any clarification is welcome STRICTIY THROUGH WHATSAPP on 8380097564.
Try to avoid calling as at times there is no range.
God bless you all
