SELDOM ONE HEARS ABOUT IAS OFFICERS GOING OUT OF THEIR WAY AFTER OFFICE HOURS AND ON PUBLIC HOLIDAYS TO HELP THE POOR & HOMELESS ESPECIALLY SENIOR CITIZENS.

Seldom one hears about IAS officers going out of their way after office hours and on public holidays to help the poor & homeless especially senior citizens.
Well we have an opportunity to have experienced one such IAS officer Mr Arun K Mishra , Secretary of WCD , Government of Goa, who understood the ground reality of a goan elderly  homeless women aged 88 years.
Saturday late night 3.8.24, there was this 88 years old goan women in need to shelter and a local police station in Salcette was handling her , where this matter was reported for her safety & long term rehabilitation. 
Basically under WCD , there are 2 NGOs one in north & one in south , under a central government scheme which comes directly under the WCD Secretary to have helped this lady.
Both NGOs could not help in their NGOs on whatever grounds that night of 3.8.24. 
I am not getting into that.
Let the authorities investigate.
So I was called as usual as our homes are always used for anyone & everyone across all departments to take in all & sundry , 24 * 7, to admiitt all in need of shelter & care.
I point blank refused as I wanted to know, how and what plan is available to Goa Police , which I realized on Sunday morning 4.8.24 , that there is no plan except Street Providence. 
But last week on 30.7.24 , it has been disappointing & disturbing @ Street Providence to an extent we almost shut down all our ladies home but for the intervention of The CM , 
Mr Subhash Phal Dessai, Mr Guru Pawaskar & other important secretaries of Goa Government.
Sunday 4.8.24 , a police officer  handling this 88 year old homeless lady was practically in tears as there was no old aged home or any other home to shelter her.
The officer is a new recruit with a small baby at home and the stress was beyond the officer expectations.
That's what i have been going through last 7 years dealing with so many homeless requests & practically peanuts in the form of grants from the Government.
Top it all , DD of WCD phone switched off , when it was most needed but it's Sunday.
Only phone available was Secretary of WCD, which the police officer called and explained the dire situation the police station was facing.
Immediately Mr Mishraji took the initiative to reach out to Street Providence but since I was, disappointed, upset , too stressed & it being a sunday,  I too had my both phones confiscated by my family and ultimately both my phones were off .
Our Manager Sapnesh Salgaonkar was the next to be contacted both by the  police officer & on a request from Secretary WCD , Mr Mishraji , this lady was admitted into our home.
WCD Secretary could have just ignored this issue and enjoyed his Sunday. 
Ultimately there is a department to handle this.
But no, WCD Secretary understood the ground reality what we @ Street Providence go thru quite often and reached out to us & the police by requesting & seeing that our manager did the needful ie rehabilitating this 88 year old goan homeless lady, which was taken care by the manager Sapnesh Salgaonkar. 
I am sure on that day WCD Secretary must have understood the actual ground reality faced by Goa Police towards homeless on the streets especially ladies.
Many times I loose my cool and take rash decisions and this was one difficult decision i took that night of 3.8.24 , that we will not accept the lady let Goa Police break their head. 
And often , it's either my trustee cum sister Joanita Pinto or our operation manager Mr Sapnesh Salgaonkar who calm me down and rise up to get the problem solved to avoid any harassment or untoward unpleasantness towards the homeless.
Mr Mishraji , we appreciate your concern and willingness to contact us even though you know the troubles we go through at WCD for no fault of ours.
The 88 year old Goan homeless lady is taken care off at our women shelter home and we are committed to her care as it's going to be permanent.
We also are committed to taking in more homeless ladies with Secretary of WCD assuring all possible help to permanently sorting out all issues with WCD under the instructions of 
The Hon CM of Goa.
It's time more IPS / IAS / DIRECTORS of Government departments go out of their way without being afraid of any Ministers and help the poor & needy as that's what their position & designation calls for.

FOOD BANK SANGOLDA GOA FINALLY GETS OUR 1ST KITCHEN, UP & RUNNING AT A RELIEF CAMP IN WAYANAD FOR FAMILIES DISPLACED BY THIS FLOODS.

FOOD BANK SANGOLDA GOA finally gets our 1st kitchen, up & running at a relief camp in Wayanad for families displaced by this floods.
We appreciate and thank the Diocese of Kannur :
Bishop Rev Dr Alex Vadakumthala, 
Vicar General Rev Fr Clarence Paliath,
& my good friend Fr Shyam ( Cannosian ) for an opportunity to serve the poor & hungry in such devastating times.
Our NGO has provided dry ration of Rs 3 lacs which was purchased in kerala itself,  to feed meals, 3 times a day in the camp to :

Today the Vicar General of Kannur Diocese handed over these dry ration items on behalf of Street Providence Goa to the families in this particular Parish hall in Poolakutty ( PO ) , Chittariparamba, Kannur district.
12th or 13th August our 1st relief truck leaves from Goa to Calicut and our team of relief volunteers will be in calicut to distribute the relief material which is in Co ordination with the Diocese of Calicut , headed by Bishop Varghese Chakkalakal.
We are collecting the following items as specified in the poster attached with the drop points where one can drop / deposit items as specified in the poster.
Kindly note ” WE ARE NOT COLLECTING CLOTHES “.
Blankets , towels, bedsheets , sleeping mats should all be new and not second hand as we are sending to relief camps and it has to be new only.
Kindly try to avoid using this collection program  to offload old stuff even if it's not used.
Our collection points have been instructed to accept only new items. 
Our collection drive is till 31.8.24 and we have points across Goa so please call the nearest point and go with an appointment as these are our volunteers who are also occupied with their profession and other family commitments.

WE ARE SENDING OUR 1ST RELIEF TRUCK TO CALICUT ON 12.8.24 , SO AS TO REACH POOREST OF THE POOR IN RELIEF CAMPS IN WAYANAND

STREET PROVIDENCE GOA is sending our 1st relief truck to Calicut on 12.8.24 , so as to reach poorest of the poor in relief camps in Wayanand .
We are blessed to be associated with Diocese of Calicut & Diocese of Kannur during this relief work which we plan to run across August September & October 24.
In fact last 2 days our local volunteers are on the ground making arrangements to start a FOOD BANK KITCHEN from Monday ie 5.8.24 to provide meals to 130 people in a Parish hall , Poolakutty(PO) , Chittariaparamba, 3 meals a day atleast for 15 days even extending to a month.
We have already committed Rs 3 lacs worth of Dry ration which is purchased in WAYANAND district and this will be delivered on Monday to our FOOD BANK kitchen at the Parish hall.
This has been purchased from a store in PERAVOOR ROAD , KELAKAM.
Coming week , 3 of our team members & 
2 nuns will be leaving for Calicut to assess and take forward the relief material distribution across the relief camps.
These 3 members have hard core experience in such relief work across India.
☆ 1. Relief material will be routed through the Calicut Diocese. 

☆ 2. Where as our Food Bank kitchen will be through Kannur Diocese.
We are starting relief material centres across Goa by Monday 5.8.24 where one can drop your relief material.
Most of our benefactors will have remembered how we had sent 13 truck loads of material during 2018 floods.
And most recently we were the only NGO from Goa to send 4 truck loads of 32 ft each to Manipur.
Our relief work is completely there for all our benefactors to see as we constantly update everyone through social media with facts , figures , details and all information.
Your intention & willingness to contribute & help either through Monetary Donations or through kind by purchasing the items in the list attached is what makes us one of the most reliable NGO'S in Goa undertaking relief work no matter where help is required and how small or big the tragedy is.
We have just sent our 2nd consignment of relief material to our neighbours @  Sindhudurg Diocese & Bishop Allwyn Barretto was all praise for we being the only NGO providing relief material from Goa.
No one else responded to their requests during the tragic flood that took place in ORAS area of Sindhudurg Diocese between 7th to 9th July 24.
We at Street Providence Goa are committed to reaching out to those in need across Goa & India and this is only possible through our SILENT BENEFACTORS who are always willing to assist the poor by donating to our NGO.

WE ARE PROVIDING THE 2ND CONSIGNMENT OF RELIEF MATERIAL TO SINDHUDURG ARCHDIOCESE

STREET PROVIDENCE GOA,  is providing the 2nd consignment of relief material to Sindhudurg Archdiocese consisting of huge qty of school note books and basic stationary items for children whose homes were flooded due to the floods on 7th to 9th July 2024.
Attached a picture of the school note books and stationary items.
Last week we provided to the Archdiocese of Sindhudurg:
☆ 300 mats
☆ 300 bedsheets 
☆ 300 towels 
☆ 300 packets of paratha.
Attached two collages of the relief material distributed from our 1st consignment through the Archdiocese of Sindhudurg. 
We @ Street Providence are continously working in India no matter how small or how big the disaster is in bringing a few smiles to those affected either by floods or by conflict.
We have generous and silent benefactors who rise up to our appeals which enables us to undertake so many projects.
We work on the ground with complete transparency and constant updating of all our works through social media platforms. 
The last major relief work was Manipur where we sent more than 2 crores worth of material & even today we are still providing dry ration in villages & schools in Manipur.
All relief requests are always complied with.
Even in Goa many many families have been provided dry ration kits in July 24 and even now we are providing dry ration kits in the month of August 24.
Currently in Goa we are adopted 4 homes of our NIZ GOENKAR which are under repairs & renovation and 6 more homes requests are pending for us to support as these houses suffered damages due to the rains. 
In the 4 states of India where we have shelter homes for the poor street people and people with mental disabilities, we always reach out in any way we can to the people around the vicinity of our shelter homes. 
Sindhudurg Diocese needed help and we were 1st NGO from Goa to go there which was on 19th July.
7th July to 17th July we were in Goa as heavy rains had affected many families and close to 1000 bags dry ration was given away through our volunteers & other NGOs.
Very soon our team will be heading to Wayand to assess and understand the needs of the peiole and we will start relief work.

THIS YOUNG WOUNDED & UNDER NOURISHED HOMELESS STREET BOY WAS TAKEN INTO OUR HOME ON THE REQUEST OF GOA POLICE @ BAMBOLIM OUTPOST

This young wounded & under nourished homeless street boy was taken into our home on the request of Goa Police @ Bambolim outpost yesterday evening.
Imran is terribly wounded on his leg with huge exposed wound as well as a serious eye infection.
The video in the link will explain his pathetic medical condition yesterday on the streets.
Spotted by Mr Rocky , Asst Sub INSPECTOR @ Goa Police,  loitering around the GMC in a very sad state of affairs.
Unclean, tired , stressed, terrible hungry & seriously wounded in his leg & his eye.
ASI Rocky called and inquired if we could consider this young man.
Like this injured homeless man who was fortunate to get help and got to a home, there are hundreds of such homeless street men looking for help to get off the streets but we just can't help them as the nos are in a few hundreds.
( Last 3 months we have drastically reduced admission of homeless men due to no funds from the Government both under Social Welfare Department & EMPOWERMENT of PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES Department.)
Looking at the picture I could not say no even if I wanted to refuse.
Ultimately its rainy season and the young boy is terribly wounded and ASI Rocky agreed to get all the documents ready for admission by 4 pm.
At 4pm our team with our Volunteer Mr Arturo Dsouza reached the outpost and Goa Police handed over Imran to us.
Very very under nourished and tired and stressed
Last 24 hours slept like a log.
Monday we get him examined and treatment will start at the Government hospitals.
It's a freaking shame that Goa is the one of the only states in India which does not have a beggars home as well as half way homes for homeless people with disabilities. 
Street Providence 11 homes in Goa are the only homes that are being used to care for the beggars & the homeless people with disabilities.
And yet we are forced to beg for grants and take these poor homeless street people with disabilities to the streets to get our dues.
Hon CM of Goa instructions to both Departments ie Women & Child as well as EMPOWERMENT for Persons with Disabilities is not being complied with regarding funding towards our homes. 
TAKE NOTE , Coming week ” If the weather is sunny & bright, we will be forced to protest in front or even in the Secretariat with all our homeless residents how our NGO is not provided grants “.
Section 144 can be applied to all our residents and let Goa Police at Porvorim police station look after them only then one will understand the stress we go thru daily.
Each and every Director is just not understanding the economic situation our NGO goes through daily as everything is expensive and 80% of the 160+ are in severe medication and non stop trips to the hospitals.
I hope this message reaches The Hon CM of Goa so that it is clear that we are coming to the assembly to raise our protests against funds which were promised and sanctioned by The Hon CM of Goa who is the Finance Minister and which is passed in the Gazette but nothing is given as yet to us.
When we make noise Ministers , Directors, Deputy Director gets offended.
But when we don't have funds how do we survive especially when we are asked to rehabilitate genuine cases in pathetic conditions like this boy.
And everyone including MINISTERS / MLAs / POLICE/ GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS request us to rehabilitate poor goans with mental disabilities as well as homeless street people,  which we comply, but where r the funds ?.
We have beds and can rehabilitate at any point of time another 50 people with all mental disabilities as well as beggars but where is the money/funds / grants ?

VERY OFTEN, SOMETIMES EVERYDAY, WE ARE REQUESTED IN GOA , TO TAKE OFF THE STREETS, PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS AND IN INHUMANE CONDITION.

Very often, sometimes everyday, we are requested in Goa , to take off the streets, people who are homeless and in inhumane condition.
And these requests are even from government hospitals in Goa which have many such homeless people brought by the Goa Police.
It's the most difficult service to provide as most of these cases are so bad and pathetic that as many as 12-16 months is the recovery time.
Alcohol and drugs is the cause of their horrible medical condition.
One such case is a Maharashtrain Mr Sushil Falke from PUNE.
Was working in coastal area and naturally drinking to an extent he lost weight and developed multiple health issues resulting in his mental imbalance as well inability to stand & walk without support. 
FEB / MAR 2023 , district hospital mapusa requested us to admitt him into our home as he could not be kept longer in the hospital.
Admitted into our home,  but was too weak for initial few months so was put on physiotherapy & diet which was high in fat & protein.
With medication and care by the care givers and regular follow up at hospitals he started to regain his strength.
Initially was given light house hold work to keep him moving else they feel they are in a hotel where everything is free and no need to work.
From light work was then put on the food car to pick food and finally once confident was put in the kitchen as a cook.
Last 6 months he has been doing a good job as a cook witn responsibility and sincerity.
Claims to have a wife & children back home which is one of the most common reasons we hear once they recover. 
Tourist season too is around the corner so he might be tempted to get a job in the coastal area but thats a risk he takes of walking away from our home.
We have a policy : once you leave our home and you are fit and fine , if found back on the streets we don't accept you back as the troubles to get you back on your feet is costly and sets a bad example for others to follow.
70% of the men like Sushil who have recovered & left our homes claiming they have family back home are going to their villages have never gone home but are back to alcohol and end up on the streets of Goa & soon or later are in worse conditions then they were earlier.
On the other side we have 20% men who stay back and work with us as they know that their problem is Alcohol and if they leave our home one day they will end up as unclaimed bodies in the morgue.
Only 10% actually go back to their families and live normal family lives.
One thing is assured in our rehabilitation program is ” All bed ridden patients irrespective of their medical condition at the time of their admission,  will walk and stand up but the time frame is 12 – 16 months “.
Our Physiotherapists do a great job in getting such bed ridden patients up & running supported by the care givers and house incharge.
Last few months we have gone slow on admitting such cases ESPECIALLY MEN,  resulting in piling up of homeless MEN in Government hospitals as well as on the streets of Goa as government is not providing us funds ESPECIALLY for MEN & running costs are touching close to Rs 20k to Rs 25k per men per month to take care off.
Looks like The Government prefers that these homeless men stay in the Government hospitals which is more expensive than be put in a shelter home.
Margao, Panjim , Vasco & Mapusa cities have a huge no of such homeless men but the Government is not supporting our Ngo with funds and that's the reason we are unable to do much.
Only in extreme cases we are accepting homeless men into our home.

🔴 *FLOODS AFFECTED PEOPLE DISPLACED ,NEED OUR HELP . STREET PROVIDENCE SEND IMMEDIATE RELIEF*  🔴
It includes Bishop Allwyn Barretto explanation with Bosco George retd IPS about the floods in Sindhudurg Diocese. 
Recently between 7th July & 9th July, 
Goa & surrounding areas received massive rainfall along with flooding like situation.
Sindhudurgh district too suffered heavy rainfall and hundreds of poor peoples houses collapsed in Kudal , Oras , etc. 
Street Providence is aware of these houses collapsing as we have two Shelter homes in this district – one in Sawantwadi & one in kankavali for Ladies & gents suffering from mental disabilities.
We sent on 22.7.24 , to the Archdiocese of Sindhudurg headed by Bishop Allwyn Barretto :
》300 sleeping mats
》300 bedsheets 
》300 towels 
》As well as 1500 pcs of JACINT ready to eat paratha donated by my good friend Prakash from Saligao.
This relief material was headed by 
Sir Bosco George retd IPS who physically drove from Goa to Oras and went around the villages to see the destruction and get a first hand understanding of the loss & destruction.
Lots of poor simple people both catholic & Hindus lost their houses which are basically mud houses.
We @ Street Providence assured The Archdiocese of Sindhudurg that we will come back and provide relief in the coming weeks through the little we can.
Lots & lots of destruction and losses suffered by the poorest of the poor who lost everything.
Last 2 weeks , Street Providence has been actively on our toes across many states where we run shelter Homes
In Goa – 7th to 17th we gave away 1008 dry ration bags to those affected by rains.
In Manipur – 18th to 20th we gave away dry ration in 2 Schools Sheltering 125 school children.
In Jharkhand – close to 200 school children are being provided new note books.
In Maharashtra – 22nd June flood relief material provided to 150+ poor families.
This is in addition to the numerous other services we undertake daily in Goa including collecting close to 500 kgs of food we feed 1500 meals.
At Street Providence WE DARE TO DREAM & most reading our posts wonder whether we really undertake so many services,  how we manage and where does the funding come from.
Well , when the intentions are clean & non political then GOD PROVIDES through human beings .

STREET PROVIDENCE MANIPUR REACHES OUT FOR THE 2nd MONTH IN A ROW TO ONE OF THE MUST ISOLATED AND INTERIOR SCHOOL IN CHURACHANDPUR WITH DRY RATION.

STREET PROVIDENCE MANIPUR reaches out for the 2nd month in a row to one of the most isolated and interior school in Churachandpur with dry ration.

Whenever there is any sort of unrest , the poorest of the poor including children are the most affected.
For over a year , we are aware of the issues in Manipur.
With an economy on the standstill it's not easy for the poor.
School children are one section which we have focused on continuously over the last 1 year and its a priorty for this coming year as well.
St Joseph High School @ Singat, Churachandpur is one of the most interior & isolated places in this rugged and devastated area which I had been to during my only visit to Manipur.
Scenery is fantastic but poverty is plenty.
Children study here as well as stay here but fees no-one pays as they just can't afford as there is no economy.
The school has a hostel for boys and girls but the capacity is beyond what is actually the sanctioned strength.
It's so sad & disappointing for the children  that the priest has to keep them in the school as there is fear & unrest outside.
But to keep them in the school the priest requires food clothing Medicines stationary.
Chuch collection is negligible and school fees no one pays.
One benefactor Mr Brian has committed to 
Rs 50000 worth of Dry ration for 5 months to this school and this is the 2nd month in running he has paid for the ration through our NGO.
Our team in Manipur which is based in Imphal along with the Archdiocese of Imphal has organized this dry ration at St Joseph High School Singat.
We @ Street Providence be it either Goa , Manipur , Jharkhand and Maharashtra are continously working with the poor and the needy providing dry ration , education material , medicines in these states as we run shelter homes for poor people with mental disabilities.
We basically work in the vicinity of our shelter homes in the 3 states out of Goa.
In Manipur , Jharkhand & Maharashtra we work with the local Archdiocese where ever our shelter homes are situated and based on the Needs of the people we undertake relief work & other services.
This month we have purchased and sent dry ration to another school in Tengnoupal which is going there for the 1st time.
One leading restaurant chain in Goa has assured initially 3 months dry ration to this school which is again very very interior and children are in need to dry ration to be able to survive.
We are being approached at our Manipur office or even on the phone by other schools asking for dry ration and medicines.

FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA distributed close to 1008 dry ration kits during this heavy monsoon days between 7th to 17th July 2024.
We thank the benefactor SANGAT GURUJI for entrusting us with these 6.5 tonnes of dry ration which was given to us to distribute to the poor.
We brought in many NGO / Individuals/ etc to help us in the distribution across Goa & I made sure that we covered all sections of society.

Rest for homeless street people @ Street Providence shelter homes.
It was a Grace of God that the dry ration was donated to us and we were able to send it across in these heavy rains to hundreds of poor families in collaboration with the above individuals/ NGOs
Our back office team headed by Sapnesh Salgaonkar and his drivers and loaders made sure the logistics and distribution went as per the plan.
Usually when distribution of such huge quanity of ration bags is given to hundreds of families the head of the NGO likes to click pictures and claim credit.
But at this distribution you won't find a single picture of me or my staff as we just sat back and allowed the NGOs & individuals to do their work.
It's all team work over 10 days in this heavy down pour of non stop rain and rain.
We thank Mr Nelson Rodrigues for recommending our NGO to SANGAT GURUJI volunteers which enabled such a huge qty of dry ration ie 1008 bags or 6500 kgs to reach the poorest of the poor in Goa.

HELP US RAISE FUNDS TO THIS ETHNIC POOR GOAN WIDOW & HER SON WHO IS ON DIALYSIS.

Help us raise funds to provide a decent living area which includes a front door , flooring & a roof to avoid their house falling down, to this ETHNIC poor goan widow & her son who is on dialysis.

disappointed with your home,
feeling down as you got no friends,
complaining about everything in life,

Clint & his mother are from Mandur and due to genuine medical reasons he lost his kidney and had to undergo dialysis.
From being a drummer in a reputed band his world collapsed and all his savings got exhausted.
Their house is very very small which is like say 3*4 Sq mts in dilapidated state & a 2*2 Sq mt which is a kitchen & attached washroom which is Equally more dilapidated. Its not shown on any video as it's too too bad to show.
The worst part is their only access is their front door but the water has seeped into the frame and white ants ate up the frame leaving the front main door unusable.
Top it all huge bandicoots have been entering their front door at night as they could not afford to repair the frame of the door & a plastic was tied to keep the rain water from entering the Home. 
We come across MANY such ETHNIC GOAN patients in hospitals who come for dialysis and our staff ANNA GRACIAS meets them daily & the worst case scenario is reported to us. 
Daily ANNA distributes through our HEALTHCARE BANK , free diapers, at times 
medicines etc to such poor ETHNIC GOANS and she spotted CLINT & his mother.
Early this week Arturo Dsouza our volunteer followed up with the details that ANNA provided and met the family.
Immediately we sent a envelope for this month living expenses and bag of dry ration.
Mother gets rs 2000 as dole which they survive on and neighbour's help quite often.
Today we got on the job and repaired the frame of the door by putting a new frame.
Tomorrow the door will be screwed back on the frame and their nightmare of bandicoots entering their house will be a thing of the past.
To avoid their house getting further damaged due to the rains & to increase their living area , a shade / shed Is to be put up of metal ASAP.
We have assured them that coming week we will put up the shade / shed and that will enable them to move out a lot of their things and their room becomes bigger and better to live in.
Their tiled roof needs urgent repairs once the rains subside which we will do for sure.
We have assured this family that every month we will provide a bag of dry ration and an envelope which is for their monthly expenses.
We appeal to you to donate to us as we wish that the house has a shade/shed either through :

There are many poor ethnic goans suffering from Dialysis and have no support at all besides rs 2000 that government gives as and when it feels.
We have compiled a huge data base and we are requesting monthly support to such families as that's the only way to help them.
We will upload case to case such genuine ethnic goans suffering from DIALYSIS & in need of Help and we will help them in due course of time.
