FOOD BANK Sangolda: Celebrating Our First Refrigerated Food Bank Truck

On 27th April, 2024, FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR, Sangolda proudly welcomed its first Refrigerated Food Bank Truck. This state-of-the-art vehicle can transport up to 2000 kg of food, maintaining a minimum temperature of minus 2 degrees Celsius.

The addition of this refrigerated truck marks a significant upgrade from our previous capacity of 500 kg. We can now collect 2,000 kgs of excess cooked food daily, a fourfold increase.

Previously, we provided approximately 1,200 meals per day. With our new refrigerated truck and a collaboration with 10 major factories in Verna Industrial Estate, we are poised to serve up to 6,000 meals daily. By collecting cooked food before it goes to waste, we are not only aiding those in need but also reducing the amount of wet garbage dumped into bins, thereby lessening environmental stress.
