No. 1
Bernard a goan homeless man , has been with us for over 8 months , and had cataract in both eyes .
Drove us nuts as he could not use the washrooms. No care giver wanted to look after him . I had to literally beg with the care givers to tolerate him .
Before the lockdown, his 1 eye operation was fixed but cancelled, finally last week , DR RYAN DCOSTA , MARGAO, did his operation FREE OF COST.
Thanks to RUBIO from MARGAO who is volunteering with us handling BERNARD for the last 3 months and did all the running around.
No 2.
Last week a man infected with HIV & TB was spotted by MAHESH GOVEKAR in PANJIM , on the roadside aimlessly .
On inquiring, MAHESH realised the lockdown has made this man homeless.
See the video of MAHESH .
We take the man into our home and then realise he also has TB & requires an injection daily .
Any nurse in and around MARGAO who can come daily anytime and inject him please LET ME KNOW .
No 3.
A Goan man Samson , going to difficult times , amputated both legs .
Was introduced to me by AKASH on 1 of my trips which I undertook to understand how goan people are suffering in interior parts of Goa .
( Very often I travel across GOA understanding how our own GOAN PEOPLE are suffering due to poverty. )
The day I met Samson , previous night his wheelchair broke.
We sent him a new wheelchair though ROY RODRICKS from MARGAO who is our volunteer within 2 days .
Samson requires also a
Washing machine &
Geyser
Music system
If anyone can help us do let us know .

STREET PROVIDENCE GOA ADMITS Mr. RAJU DAS , A WOUNDED HOMELESS MAN , ORIGINALLY FROM COIMBATORE.

8.5.2020 2pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE GOA admits Mr Raju Das , a wounded homeless man , originally from Coimbatore , but found on the streets of Calangute.
Mr Salvador , from Calangute, observed that there was a very unclean man sleeping in pathetic conditions in the footpath in Calangute about 15 days back .
On inquiring with me , If we could rehabilitate i said yes and its then that SALVADOR realised that Raju had a wound on his leg .
Raju has been working doing odd jobs in and around Calangute and the lockdown might or may be put him out of his source of living .
So to ease such pain, Raju took to drinking and he was admitted earlier in District Hospital, Mapusa , but again no food and job so again drinking .
Mr Salvador got Raju admitted again into the hospital and then 4 days back , Salvador got the police NOC and his medication and directly admitted him into out home for rehabilitation.
This is how things have to work.
SALVADOR did the right thing.
☆ He took the trouble of
     Checking with me
☆ Co coordinating with Calangute                 Police
☆ Admitting Raju to hospital,
     Checking on Raju
☆ Then getting him discharged,
Finally getting him to our home to             recover.
Our job as service provider is to provide Raju a place to stay, clean his wounds and feed him till the wound heals.
Not many go the extra mile like Salvador went .
Clicking pictures and sending me is not useful .
We just cant run around with so many calls and leads.
Manpower and resources are a big constraint.
If you see such homeless people or destitutes send me a WhatsApp on 8380097564 and wait for instructions.
Follow the instructions and we will then provide rehabilitation.
As usual I operate only through whatsapp on 8380097564.

SHALAN PINTO FROM MAPUSA HELPS THIS POOR , HUNGRY , ABANDONED, HOMELESS MAN

7.5.2020 5pm IST
SHALAN PINTO from Mapusa gets help to this poor , hungry , abandoned, homeless man at 11.45pm on 6.5.2020
Street Providence receives a call at 11.45pm when most are asleep from Shalan who found this man right on the main road just op old mahindra showroom on the PANJIM – MAPUSA highway .
I am sure many saw him , but not all decided to see how he can be helped because of thr COVID 19.
Anyway I sent RAJESH & HENANT our care givers from our porvorim home , which is just 3 min away from the spot where the man was sitting.
He was famished and hungry and unclean and very weak .
Shalan called 100 and got the local police involved as without an NOC lifting someone directly ( from the street especially the way this man was ) can be disastrous, should he just kick the bucket.
Porvorim police did the best they could and this morning 7.5.2020 we rehabilitated him in one of our homes.
Thanks to SHALAN PINTO for pursuing
☆ 1st with us
☆ 2nd with 100
☆ 3rd with porvorim police
☆ 4th back to us
This is how one should help homeless people.
Most of the times, pictures are sent to us with no location, no proper address and worst part , the person on the street is not interested to be rehabilitated
One needs to be like SHALAN.
He called us .
We explained him the procedure.
He did all the following up .
He got the man actual help .
See, we are the service providers .
We can't be the complaint, do all the running around as well as the service providers.
Our job is to get help to homeless people once we get the NOC from the police and the medical report that the homeless is to be rehabilitated and does not require hospitalization.
Because if he kicks the bucket without the police NOC , then we can be charged with
Culpable homicide and then you know how activists file cases against you for multiple reasons just to get publicity.
The man is not speaking so we don't know much but he looks to be pretty young.
As usual I operate only through whatsapp on 8380097564.
Strictly no calling.  It's a humble request.  Send your message I will get back.

DONATED 500 CLOTH MASKS & 100 NEW RECHARGEABLE TORCHES/ FLASH LIGHT TO FRONT LINE CORONA WARRIORS @ GOA ELECTRICTY DEPARTMENT

4.5.2020 8pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE TRUST GOA, today showed support to these front line CORONA WARRIORS @ GOA ELECTRICTY DEPARTMENT by donating
500 cloth masks &
100 New rechargeable torches/ flash light.
Yes , in 2 seasons, Summer & Rainy seasons , the electricity DEPARTMENT personal will always be on their toes and we decided to show our support to the ground staff.
Street Providence, volunteers Mr Sapnesh Salgaonkar & Mr Napolean Fernandes were able to hand over these torches and masks to CHIEF ELECTRICAL ENGINEER , Mr KENI.
Thanks to Mr Lydon Monterio, OSD to the Power Minister of Goa, for giving us an opportunity to do something small for the ground staff of GOA ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT.
Running 9 destitude homes across Goa is at times difficult, especially when you have power shortage and especially when 2 of your homes are isolated and there is no neighbours in that areas.
At such times I think of Mr Lydon Monterio, and he and his JE, AE and ground staff always oblige us by going out of their way to restore the electricity and it is in this spirit of giving , we decided to donate the masks and the torches.
Very often we see the ground staff moving around at night or late evening and a torch light can be a small support.
Rainy season is around the corner and masks will surely get wet, so a couple of extra dry masks will be an added facility for these ground staff at the ELECTRICITY STATIONS.
You too can do your bit by reaching out to various CORONA WARRIORS who might be working in your locality to keep the surrounding in the way you prefer it to be .
Although they are government employees, yet a little support from you and me can go a long way in boosting their morale and increasing their efficiency.
There are plenty of CORONA WARRIORS in GOA , in different fields, working day & night , to keep us safe, to provide us basic amenities and we at STREET PROVIDENCE will try to do our little bit in donating masks and equipment in the coming weeks.
Looking for suggestions and ideas as well as support.
We offer you INCOME TAX EXEMPTION under section 80G along with your PAN CARD NO on your donations.
As usual we operate only thru WhatsApp on 8380097564 . No calling.
Send me a massage and I will reply quickly.
God bless you all

BIG THANKS TO COCA COLA company for giving us FREE 300 CRTS to distribute to the street people while we distribute food and ration.
Our strength at STREET PROVIDENCE is our volunteers who are ever ready to deliver at short notice .
Police personal @ Goa police , have been working round the clock during this lock down .
Right from the constable to the DYSP all have been on the field during this lockdown.
It's not an easy job ( no negative comments please) especially in this summer heat .
You will see the police deployed in areas which at times are unhygienic, dirty , heat , dusty, road side and highways , etc.
We need to remember that these men are our own GOANS who also have families and are human beings like you and me .
If you have any commodity to give away in bulk and you want it to reach to the deserving , then get in touch with us @ Street Providence .
Once again we @ STREET PROVIDENCE salute all police personal at GOA POLICE our front line Corona warriors .
