Recently we celebrated World Elders Day and we @ Street Providence also played our part by reaching our to many such elders across rural Goa in many many ways .
We present just 2 such cases with a few pictures.
☆ 1. Few weeks back on Social media was reported how in rural Sanguem , a poor goan family house was destroyed due to lighting .
Our Volunteer Mr Akash Pednekar from Curchorem reached the family and assessed the help we could provide .
Hardly any road access to their house and just 1 neighbour in the vicinity of 100 meters .
The family home entire electrical wiring was short circuited and destroyed.
Besides that alot of house hold electrical & electronic equipment was destroyed.
The man is a person with disabilities and has no major source of income besides the government pension.
Our team comprising of Sapnesh Salgaonkar & Akash Pednekar ( along with the local Zila Parishad member) donated some items like
A new Television, Ceiling fans, etc from our side.
Infact why Television?
Well just 2 days before this incident, a family donated a big new Television to one of our shelter homes which did not have a television.
So since we saved that money , we decided why not give this family a brand new television.
One needs to give only then you get.
☆ 2. A poor elderly goan man was in need of a wheel chair and our NGO employee Mr Akshay Dessai from Sulcorna was contacted by this family .
Immediately Akshay Dessai visited the family in rural canacona and suggested we help the man.
Infact Akshay Dessai drove with the wheel chair from Quepem to Rural Canacona and personally donated the wheel chair.
Out of love and gratitude the elderly man gave Akshay petrol money which was really touching.
☆ 3. Month after month, last 2 years we have close to 30 goan families across rural Canacona recieving Dry ration kits worth Rs 1000 through our Volunteer in Canacona Mrs Sharon .
The elderly are getting and feeling the pinch of timely food, clothing and medication.
Families at times are struggling themselves to provide for their immediate loved ones.
Automatically the elderly are pushed into a corner.
We through our volunteers and staff month after month try our level best to provide at times 125 kits of dry ration to such families worth Rs 1000 each across Goa .
We play our little party daily in rural Goa by bringing small smiles on the poor, elderly, disabled, widows, bed ridden, etc .
We also get blessings and prayers from these poor rural elderly people.
It's sometimes really to far traveling from Sangolda to interior parts of South Goa .
But with a base in the form if rehabilitation homes at Quepem & Cavelossim it gets very easy to move or help people in entire South Goa.
Its only in giving and giving without expecting back that one can feel the peace, joy and happiness .
God bless you all
