INSTALLING THESE 10 NEW FRIDGES TO ACCEPT AND COLLECT EXTRA COOKED FOOD

29.1.2023  8pm IST
FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA  GOA is installing THESE 10 new fridges to accept and collect extra cooked food.
( picture attached).
Please do sponsor these fridges @ Rs 19000 each.
These are brand new ELANPRO  fridges purchased from Global Enterprises , Porvorim.
We have identified 10 locations where these fridges will be installed & we are assured of daily min 25 kgs to 30 kgs of Extra food which otherwise is being wasted everyday.
These 30 kgs of food from each fridge is enough for 80 to 90 meals as 1 kg of food is enough for 3 people.
We have identification of numerous poor families situated in the vicinity of these fridges who are suffering from HIV & TB and other sickness.
We have 3 teams created covering 3 fridges per team and these teams will directly get this extra good food to those poor families daily.
We as the only Registered Food Bank in Goa have 23 such fridges installed across Goa , with 11 such fridges installed in Police Stations.
For almost 6 years and running our food bank fridges has been feeding our homeless in our shelter Homes as daily we get about 300 kgs to 500 kgs of food of which 20% to 30% is not consumable which is then fed to the animals.
We also donate extra food to other homes and other NGOs who feed in their locality in Goa.
Running Food bank fridges has been one of the greatest achievements I can boast off as a result we are able to open so many Homes and take in non stop so many homeless people.
Why ?
Because daily we know God provides food in our fridges which is donated by many unknown and unseen people who understand hunger & Homelessness.
If my shelter Homes can run with extra cooked food through our food bank fridges why not other poor people homes especially those suffering from HIV & TB and sickness ?
Many will think about ” FOOD POSIONING “.
Yes you are right .
We have designed systems where by our team members are made to understand looking at the food to know if the food is consumable or not.
Usually poor and underprivileged people never ever complain about food as most of them hardly can afford 2 decent square meals and whatever is given is accepted if not good they will throw out, but they never ever complain.
It's the unwanted idle people who are usually jealous and envy of those who are trying to do good who make issues and show a mole as a hill
If you feel your can sponsor a fridge or two then be assured of UNLIMITED BLESSINGS from so many poor families suffering from HIV & TB and poverty and sickness.

CAN U EVER IMAGINE IN GOA , POOR ETHNIC GOANS FROM VILLAGES WITHOUT FOOD , MEDICINES, AND NOT GOING OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR TEARS DUE TO STIGMA & MENTAL DISABILITIES

24.1.2024.  7 pm IST
Can u ever imagine in Goa , poor ethnic goans from villages without food , medicines, and not going our of the house for years due to stigma & mental disabilities which has passed down from one generation to the next generation.
Due to mental disabilities :
》one sister died,
》one sister has not left the home for years & incase goes out of the house , starts shouting & throwing stones,
》All other related family members also suffering.
Well, many assume and pass comments
” no poor goans in Goa or on the streets “.
Today we took in one sad, disappointing , pathetic, terribly suffering ” elderly mother and an un married and terribly undernourished daughter ” suffering from mental disabilities may be even chronic disabilities.
Father died leaving behind 3 small daughters.
Not exactly sure what and how but one unmarried daughter died suffering from mental disabilities.
Another daughter married but recently showing initial signs of disabilities.
And this 3rd daughter, totally lost and high level of depression which might be some sort of mental disabilities,  being looked after by the elderly widow mother with no source of any money.
When Neighbors give, only then they get food to eat.
Neighbors don't Have any issue in helping but are scared as the daughter gets bouts of aggression & other symptoms of mental disabilities.
For close to 10 years daughter and mother are just in the small house & should by chance the daughter venture out of the house , all trouble breaks loose as she might be taunted, mocked or made fun off which results in the daughter firing bad words, throwing stones, rants and abuses.
One of our village volunteer in this village & an elderly Nun saw their misery and approached us to care & rehabilitate which we consented.
Today the mothers brother admitted into our home with the recommendation of the Local MLA & The Village Panchayat.
These are both LIFE LONG ADMISSION & I have to be responsible for them as long as they live as there is just no one to help them back home.
And most of our admissions are LIFE LONG and I am responsible for them as that's how life is.
They have no money , no saving , no pension,  no government dole , NOTHING.
Easy to Freaking pass comments on social media ” NO Goans are poor or No Goans are on the streets “.
And you should know why and where my anger and attitude comes from.
It arises as The Women & Child Department especially The Deputy Director who turned her heart into stone when she should have been on the ground to here the cries of such horrible instances of our own goan women living in misery.
Simply i don't get angry.
It's been years that Ministers, Directors , Deputy Directors have done absolutely nothing for our own poor goan women suffering from mental disabilities and have no 1st hand data, info or any idea of how widows , unmarried girls , abandoned wives, elderly ladies are living in S*IT suffering from mental disabilities.
This freaking nonsense attitude of these government officials has to stop.
The day I loose my patience  ” I will be forced to sit on the streets with all these ladies ” till it attracts the attention of State Women & Child Minister as well as The Central Women & Child Minister.
As of today we have close to 10 such goan ladies suffering from mental & physical disabilities living in S*IT , pleading & asking for help and we will help and all these are in IPHB.
Once released, may be by this month end, if we don't admitt them , these 10 will reach the streets , make a mess , get a pasting from others, may be even man handled & abused and then again they will be reaffirmed into IPHB.
So do these poor Goan ladies with disabilities admitted in IPHB have any choices ?
We as an NGO can't give these excuses like other do :
☆ We don't have space,
☆ We don't have care givers ,
☆ We only take from this religion ,
☆ We can't manage ladies with disabilities,
☆ Etc
We accept and care for anyone who needs care and help especially if they are goans & poor.
No one is ever refused admission but that requires constant flow of resources.
That's why we constantly upload our work on social media ” showing what we do & asking for donations “.
At the rate mental disabilities is rising I am sure every month we will be taking in 15 – 20 poor goans suffering from mental disabilities.
At current 180 strength add 15 per month to 12 months ie 180 .
So 360 to 400 beds we have to have at any point of time.
If you wish to support us please do but don't pass negative comments as that will come back to you and your family and then it will be to late to reverse the situations.

BISHOP THEODORE MASCARENHAS & BENAULIM MLA CAPT Venzy Viegas SITS DOWN FOR LUNCH @ STREET PROVIDENCE SHELTER HOME ALONG WITH THOSE POOR GOANS SUFFERING FROM DISABILITIES.

22.1.2023. 7pm
♡♡♡ Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas & Benaulim MLA Cpt Venzy Viegas sits down for lunch @ Street Providence shelter home along with those poor goans suffering from disabilities.
Today at our shelter homes @ Cavelossim,  we had a simple lunch for our friends in both these 2 Homes and we were joined by :
☆ Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas ( SFX ) & Priests from Ranchi Archdiocese,
☆ Cpt Venzy Viegas, Benaulim MLA,
☆ Fr Tony Fernandes ( SFX ),
☆ Sr Mariya ( FMCK ) & her fellow nuns ( FMCK ),
☆ John Baptist ( long time Volunteer ),
☆ Press personal ,
☆ Staff of our NGO &
☆ 35 friends, both ladies & gents with disabilities.
It was an simple Thanksgiving lunch for all those present.
Most of our friends in these 2 homes @ Cavelossim are poor homeless goans, suffering from severe mental disabilities and on medication.
Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas and his 3 Priests who are fron Ranchi Archdiocese experienced 1st hand how we @ Street Providence provide service and care to the poor homeless people suffering from mental disabilities.
Street Providence has a home in Daltonganj diocese and we intend add more homes in Daltonganj diocese to cater to the poor in Jharkhand suffering from mental disabilities and homelessness.
Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas & his Priests saw with their eyes the different types of friends in this two homes & how they are on medication for different types of disabilities.
Well , Our friendship with Cpt Venzy goes back before he became an MLA and we always invite him to our homes whenever we have any function.
Cpt Venzy Viegas as the Benaulim MLA too is doing good work across the entire constituency especially on the Health Care front.
Rarely one sees in Goa especially , A Bishop sitting down for a meal with the homeless suffering from disabilities.
Also one seldom see in Goa, an elected MLA taking part in a meal In a shelter home with poor people with disabilities.
I am sure both, Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas & Benaulim MLA , Cpt Venzy Viegas experienced the prayers, blessings and good wishes, given by our friends from both these Homes during this small short lunch program.
Usually everyone does these visits during Christmas week & rest of the year no one thinks and visits the homeless in shelter homes.
But both Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas & Benaulim MLA Cpt Venzy Viegas made time & that speaks volumes of their supoort to Street Providence vision ” Ending hunger and homelessness “.

SIR BOSCO GEORGE DON’S A NEW HAT AND A RATHER STRANGE ONE ” VOLUNTEER STREET PROVIDENCE “

20.1.2024. 7pm IST
♡♡♡ A former IPS officer, Sir Bosco George has worn many hats during his 35 years of public Service.
》A Deputy Inspector General of Police ( DIG ) ,
》A Secretary to The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh,
》An Inspector General of Prisons,
》An Aide-de-Camp, to The Governor of Goa (ADC),
》& various other posts.
1.2.23 , Sir Bosco George dons a new hat and a rather strange one ” Volunteer Street Providence “
And very soon it's going to be a one year anniversary.
A freak connection way back in 2019 , where by an unclean man in his locality needed rehabilitation which we obliged.
This incident brought one of the most sincere, upright, honest, soft spoken, Top Goan Cop,
Sir Bosco George face to face with Donald Fernandes, a few who would claim to be abrupt and brash at times and often I am called rude.
Well, our mission of ” ending hunger & homelessness ” caught the imagination of Sir Bosco George.
Two years Well before his retirement, Sir Bosco pledged to work with our NGO as a volunteer and he stood by that pledge.
Usually retd IPS Officers are in big demand by Corporates , Airports , Casinos, etc as they are worth their weight in Gold.
I know quite a few have asked Sir Bosco directly or indirectly ” how in heavens does he manage to serve the NGO , Especially when it's run by Donald ? “.
And there are so many other questions which so many are looking for answers.
His interview of 15 min will answer everything as we @ Street Providence are very very clear in our field work and our service to the poor , the hungry and those suffering various disabilities and turning homeless.
Sir Bosco George is briefed regularly by me about all our future plans across all spectrums of work so that he plans his retirement days without stress.
Having Sir Bosco George Retd IPS on our team resulted in our Manipur relief mission going exactly to plan as Goa to Manipur is one way 4000 kms and with his commitment inspite of the high risks we were able to do so much work across entire Manipur.
Next year as we set up homes beyond the shores of India , I have requested Sir Bosco George to take charge of this project.
Which he has consented.
That's the level of COMMITMENT from Sir Bosco George.
Although I am not sure whether Sir Bosco George will approve this ” Street Providence has a problem solver, a trouble shooter, a fine tuner , a person to go to & that's where Sir Bosco plays his part – PROFESSIONAL FULL TIME VOLUNTEER “.
It's not easy working either full-time as an employee or as a full time volunteer @ Street Providence as our work is complex and often I am very demanding but it's very challenging and takes you places one has not seen, shows you experiences one will never ever find in a book or a movie.
The purpose of this post is to highlight that more retired Government officials should attempt to volunteer with our NGO just like Sir Bosco George is doing and togther we can make this world a better place to live.
Let's keep aside loose talk , apprehensions , unwanted emotions, character assistinations, judgmental decisions about working styles of NGOs and work together to bring about a change by entering the system.
Sir Bosco George has brought alot of new ideas and positive energy in the last 1 year of his association with Street Providence as a full time volunteer and all our Trustees ,our staff , our volunteers and our inmates are proud to have such a wonderful person as part of our team.
Please do watch the interview , leave your comments and share with others who might be willing to be the change.
All communications strictly through whatsapp messages on 8380097564 .

A SAD STORY OF ANOTHER WOMAN RECUSED BY STREET PROVIDENCE. SOCIAL WELFARE EXTENDS HELP

15.1.2024. 7pm IST
Strange it may sound ” mother and brother refuses to acknowledge that this goan lady is their daughter & sister as a result she is unwanted, homeless, living for years on the streets and now has developed a sort of cancer as she has turned white.
⭕ *A SAD STORY OF ANOTHER WOMAN RECUSED BY STREET PROVIDENCE. SOCIAL WELFARE EXTENDS HELP* ⭕
Well sounds shocking and it's freaking shocking that even Verna police station could not help her as her home is in Sancoale which she says is worth crores of Rupees.
Ester or Sneha as her adhar card shows is about 45 to 50 years old and is very weak, requires monthly blood transfusion,  has a bone marrow surgery to be done,  severe bouts of depression and absolutely unwanted by all her family members due to some mistake she made many years back which today makes her live in this state.
1 year back she was brought to our home by Fatorda Police and we realized that she requires blood transfusion every month.
We treated her every month and we ended up spending over a lakh of rupees on her which we felt was our service to humanity.
But one day she was shifted to GMC for blood transfusion cum some medical procedures , i think she has BONE MARROW operation to be done and we were told to sign some papers which was not possible as she told the doctors that her family stays in Sancoale and that meant we were not entitled to sign those papers .
We took her back to Verna police station and the cops called the family but they refused.
She was later sent to the One stop Service place in South Goa run by Mrs Auda Viegas who found her difficult to handle as she is also psychiatric in nature.
She was then sent to a home in Taleigao where I am sure she stayed for a month but being so sick it's impossible they could have helped her as much, as no one takes care the way we do.
She requires weekly hospital check up at district hospital and monthly check up at IPHB.
No one is going to do this service for a lady whose tongue is loose and ungrateful but that's her mental state as she is unwanted and unloved by all.
So again she has been on the streets.
She visited many convents & other homes where she has stayed in the past but non could keep her more than a day as she is too complicated and weak in her body.
Even when she was brought to the Colva police station from an old aged home in benaulim , the cops did not take her seriously and told her go to Vasco police station.
And this was just 4 days back story.
We just celebrated Birth of Jesus christ and we know that no one opened their doors to baby Jesus parents as they were poor and had no money.
Everyone just refused them entry.
Same is the situation with Ester or Sneha.
But we are always keeping our doors wide open 24*7 * 365 days .
Anyone and everyone is welcome.
We always have extra beds but all admissions through the police only .
This is how I personally celebrate CHRISTMAS all year round.
Everyday is my Christmas but on 25th Dec to 31st December is my holiday as that's the time I spend with the family – no work.
Today we were slightly free so I got Hassan Khan from Vasco to get her off the streets where she was sleeping at Vasco Railway station.
We this time will end up spending more money on her treatment and will sign her papers as she has a right to live even if she has family who does not want her back home.
Her life will be short but we will give her the best we can even though she is really ungrateful , difficult to handle, a very sick person, no care giver will she agree with, argues ,fight and grumbles about everything and anything.
We will reach out to as many as we can irrespective of their medical condition and do the best we can.
♡♡♡ Thanks to Director of Social Welfare Department, Mr Ajit for providing the government jeep from his department to ferry this lady back to the shelter home at Guirim from Vasco police station.

IT’S ANOTHER HECTIC WEEK @ STREET PROVIDENCE GOA WHERE BY 4 PEOPLE WERE ADMITTED INTO OUR HOMES AS OF THIS WEEKEND

13.1.2023.  7pm IST
It's another hectic week @ Street Providence Goa where by 4 people were admitted into our homes as of this week end.
3 are goans & 1 is a non goan who is bed ridden, of which 2 are ladies and 2 are men.
Last week we had admitted 5 such people.
》3 goans & 2 non goans , of which one is bed ridden.
Link attached of the bed ridden educated man picked up this week :
Link below of last week admission :
This week the people admitted are :
☆ 1. A DOWNSYNDROME goan girl having just having just her mother and so poor that it's very sad case.
Top it all : mother is in GMC for an open heart surgery and this daughter who cant talk and do anythiny by herself, was with her.
Incase anything goes wrong in GMC with this child,  press will scream and GMC gets a bad name .
A kind hearted senior citizen Mr Basil Dcunha requested us to rehabilitate the girl till the mother is discharged.
☆ 2. An elderly senior citizen goan lady brought in by Goa Police which could be a case of mental disabilities.
☆ 3. A non goan educated man but paralyzed totally both legs below the waist.
Has been living in various Government hospitals in Goa for months as he can't walk or get up from the bed alone.
Recommend by Dr Roshan Nazareth, Candolim health centre as this man requires nutrition and Physiotherapy to get back to his feet.
At the moment has to be bathed and taken to wash room. Totally On a wheel chair
☆ 4. A very young goan boy with only his sister in his family as both parents dead.
Chronic case of severe psychiatric disabilities to an extent gets so violent that he has to be chained up and tied at home as he has serious bouts of aggression.
A frequent inmate of IPHB but no one to care for him as his only sister goes to work.
Recommend by Poriem MLA, as he is a voter of that constituency.
This young boy is a risk to society , as he can attack anyone on the street or get into a fight & beaten up on the street due to his aggressive nature.
His sister is working and no one at home to administer his daily medication leaving him to wander around.
We still have another 12 goan ladies suffering from severe mental disabilities to admitt into our homes as of today and the requests are increasing.
Few are admitted & taking treatment at IPHB and few are yet to get into IPHB to get treatment.
It's very sad state of affairs for those who are poor and suffering from disabilities.
We stand committed in Goa to consider and help each request systematically and only after evaluating the request.
Your support to our NGO means alot to us.

WE ARE STARTING FREE PHYSIOTHERAPY CAMPS WHICH WILL BE FOLLOWED UP BY FREE PHYSIOTHERAPY SESSIONS IN RURAL VILLAGES IN GOA

10.1.2024. 8pm IST
To bring free health care to the poorest of the poor in rural villages across Goa ( before we implement it across other states ) we are starting FREE PHYSIOTHERAPY CAMPS which will be followed up by free Physiotherapy sessions in RURAL villages in GOA, for the poorest of the poor.
And the 1st such camp is on 28.1.2024 @ St John The Baptist Church , Pilerne , Bardez , Goa.
( poster attached).
This camp is OPEN TO ALL including the poorest of the poor in the villages of Pilerne , Nerul & Reis Magos.
Those who are not poor and can afford ” our Physiotherapist will treat you at your home for a reasonable charge ” after you are assessed at The Camp.
But only the poorest of the poor will be provided free Physiotherapy sessions after the assessment at The Camp.
But even before this 1st Camp starts , our FREE Physiotherapy sessions are taking place for 2 poor goans ladies suffering from pain, in a brand new room provided by Fr Derrick , The Parish priest of St John The Baptist Church.
Well most of my projects are thought off way in advance looking at the problems on the ground.
Flash back :
》Mid 2017 – food bank fridges. 100 % still on
》Dec 2017 – shelter home. Today need of the hour.
》Jun 2022 – Physiotherapy units . 3 are running.
The world is in stress , tension , sickness, trouble
Poverty is increasing leading to mental disabilities as well as pains in the body.
Old and elderly are abandoned due to social issues of children who migrate etc.
In the next 2 to 3 years the mental health issues due to alcohol, drug abuse, stress, etc is beyond one's imagination as of today.
You can expect hoardes of people with unsound minds roaming the streets and you and I will not be able to do anything neither will be the authorities.
All may not get admission into psychiatric hospitals or even shelter homes.
In a country of 1.4 billion, we have only 440 + hospitals dealing with psychiatric issues.
We intend to create units in rural villages for two purposes only for the poorest of the poor  –
☆ 1. Physiotherapy for the body – by moving Physiotherapist into villages
and on this same network,
☆ 2. Psychiatric medication for the mind – by gathering data of those in the villages suffering from mental disabilities , get them assessed at the local Government mental hospital, provide them free monthly transport to go for their monthly assessment to the government hospitals , providing free psychiatric medications month after month.
Might sound complicated or confusing to some.
But hold on.
We are currently having a bed capacity for 240 people with mental & physical disabilities along with 3 full fledged Physiotherapy units and we see alot of stability and improvements In all our psychiatric patients in all our 10 shelter homes in Goa due to Physiotherapy and administering them their prescribed psychiatric medicines from IPHB only.
So if it works in our homes it should be taken to others who will be requiring these services.
This is how Street Providence is going to work – by taking free health care for both mental & physical disabilities to the poorest of the poor only in rural villages in Goa.
Funding ?
Well there will be avenues namely :
☆ Government
☆ CSR
☆ Private benefactors
☆ There are alot of well to do people who have so much wealth.
☆ Etc
You can also be a part of this unique concept of free health care in rural villages and get that permanent joy when you see your donation bringing LIGHT to the poorest of the poor in your own village by this concept.
But if we need to see reduction of murders , suicides, divorcees, hordes of homeless people living on streets , unclean people roaming endlessly , etc then we need to look at how to bring good health care to the poorest of the poor with focus being on Awareness of mental disabilities.
We visualize, conceptualize, implement and are always ready when the problems have escalated.
1. Just 24 hours ago UN, has put out on their official site the no. of people with disabilites in the world, both in % and in nos.
( poster attached ).
It means 1: 5 or 1: 6 person is suffering from disabilities.
Or in simple words ever 5 to 6 person requires help as they are suffering from disabilities.
2. Government of Goa , is doubling their bed capacity at IPHB from 190 to 400 ( approx).
With point 1 & 2, the writing is clear and visible but majority don't want to see , even if they see understand that this is not for my family and then when it strikes one family – run helter and shelter.
We require cluster of 3 villages to join in but only In rural Goa as we are keen to implement this system across RURAL Goa and not only through churches but also through temples and mosques.
We require the space only – equipment and Physiotherapist we will arrange.
No negative comments please as it will come back to you only.
Let's prepare to fight this huge issue of mental disabilities before it gets out of hand.

INCASE YOU READING THIS POST HAVE ANY BUDGET LEFT WHICH YOU DID NOT SPEND FOR CHRISTMAS THEN PLEASE DONATE FOR A GENUINE CAUSE

8.1.2024. 8pm IST
We have just finished Celebrating the Festival of Christmas commemorating The Birth Of Baby Jesus in a manger and incase you reading this post have any budget left which you did not spend for Christmas then please donate for a genuine cause.
We have a big medical bill to pay and all help is welcome .
( incase you get time and check the prices in Google you will get a fair idea of the costing).
STREET PROVIDENCE MANIPUR completes a month of our men shelter home being blessed and we now have a registered office In Imphal.
I had spent a couple of days in Manipur early December 23 and moved across various districts listening to various people who are going hardships.
One thing hit me ” medical equipment & medicines ” are the need of the hour.
Immediately we ordered huge qty of generic medicines from Delhi, for two hospital ie Kangpokpi & Singngat.
( attached posters of the medicines)
Medicines are in big demand in the hills as logistics is a nightmare.
Organizing these huge qty of medicines at short notice took 2 weeks and only after 25th Dec these medicines were dispatched to Guwahati & Dimapur as there is no direct freight services into both these districts from Delhi.
Medicines sent to Dimapur has finally landed at Kangpokpi.
Guwahati medicines is yet to reach Singngat.
Both consignments left same day from the same supplier through the same transport Co but logistics is a big issue.
Winter has set in . Night temperature is at 8 degrees.
Unemployment is an issue due to the displacement, inflation has reached double figures as per today latest news so naturally prices will double
The poor especially those with little children, the elderly, those suffering from disabilities, women with new born babies will be effected the most.
It's difficult times in land 4000 kns away from Goa
Curfews , strikes, etc are common in the last few weeks.
Even before these two consignments reached , we have requests for more medicines from other districts.
It's difficult to say no but we have to ask for donations to bring that Little light in their lives.
For the last few days I was occupied with our shelter home issues in Goa which are almost sorted out due to the Support of The Hon CM Of GOA & we have started rehabilitating a huge no of poor goans suffering from mental disabilities into our Goa homes.
Goa is just 2 districts and I see and get daily so many requests for help and rehabilitation that I shudder &  can't stop thinking about the plight of those in relief camps whose troubles especially for medication is worth helping out with.
Dry ration is being taken care off for 500 families each month in different districts as we got a sponsor for 6 months dry ration.
A little here and there towards a genuine cause is what my humble request to you incase you are reading the entire post and reached this line.
Most of us have gone on with our daily lives as its next to impossible to go on helping again and again, which is but natural.
But now we have a home in Manipur and we have staff in Imphal , we are keen to provide aid and help to as many as possible be it through dry ration, medicines, school fees , medical equipment, rehabilitation of those with disabilities or even reconstruction of homes.
You too can join us and play your little part As we share in their troubles and bring light in their lives.

WE HAS STARTED THE NEW YEAR WITH FOCUS BEING ON REHABILITATION OF THE POOR GOAN WHO CARE HOMELESS AND SUFFERING FROM MENTAL DISABILITIES

6.1.2024. 7pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE has started the New Year with focus being on rehabilitation of the poor Goans who are homeless and suffering from mental disabilities as well those homeless on the streets and abandoned in hospitals.
From 2nd to the 5th , we have provided rehabilitation to 5 such men & women and in the coming week we have close to 10 such ethnic goans to rehabilitate, failing which most will reach the streets as all are poor goan ladies and all are suffering from mental and physical disabilities.
These are the 5 who we have taken in as seen in the poster attached  :
☆ 1. An elderly Goan abandoned widow, from Divar having no one in her family to care for her &  recommended by Mayem MLA,  dropped by the Village Sarpanch to our home , suffering from mild mental disabilities.
☆ 2. The ” Dead man walking Alive ” from Agassiam suffering from big wounds on his head which requires daily dressing and a severe degree of mental disabilities admitted by the family.
☆ 3. A abandoned non Goan man, Mr Prem Patil from District hospital mapusa brought in by Goa Police @ Mapusa, wheel chair bound with severe physical damages to his leg and on a pamper, and has to be carried around for everything and totally undernourished & weak , brought on a Stretcher in our Ambulance to our home
☆ 4. A poor goan man from Navelim suffering from severe mental disabilities whose sister too is in our shelter homes for over two years with multiple sickness including mental disabilities and having at home an elderly bed ridden mother who just can manage even one of them.
☆ 5. A south Indian homeless man brought by Goa Police @ Anjuna who is totally insane had to be admitted into IPHB as he was getting put of control.
We also rescued a goan dumb man roaming on the streets of Mapusa – Giurim road and reunited Him with his family at Candolim through Calangute police station , after The Disability Commissioner of Goa, Mr Pawaskar saw him early morning roaming around on the streets and informed us to help and in the bargain disturbed my peaceful sleep that early morning.
But the coming week is tough as there are 9 to 10 admissions of ethnic poor goan ladies suffering from severe to incurable mental disabilities of which 8 are in IPHB awaiting their discharge but we are delaying as our women homes are totally full, but we will adjust.
It's getting bad to worse on the streets and only those on the ground see and find such genuine people looking for help care and rehabilitation.
We are committed to taking in all genuine requests especially if they are poor goans and suffering from mental disabilities.
We have been assured full support by
The Hon Chief Minister of Goa to keep our services on &  to run as many homes as we can
so as to avoid our poor goans suffering from mental disabilities reaching the streets due to no care and timely treatment and daily medication.
With assured help from The Department of W&CD & Social Welfare, we just need to focus on opening more homes to take in all these poor goans suffering from mental disabilities else there will be a spill over on the streets and IPHB will be in a tight spot.
Remember IPHB has 190 beds and we have 240 beds, of which our 125 patients are extremely volatile & suffering from severe to chronic mental disabilities.
Any delay in support from the authorities can lead to demotivation from our side and once that happens it will ge difficult to handle.
We are in constant need of support through donations as we as in kind like diapers, food grains , medicines, etc.
To run so many Free shelter home looking after the homeless and those with severe mental disabilities one needs a continous flow of funds and donations.
And that's the reason we use social media to promote and show the world our work so as to generate donations without which we will not be able to help and care for 100's of genuine poor goans suffering on the streets due to mental disabilities and homelessness.
I am aware that our continous and non stop services as an NGO across Goa and India in many fields is causing ENVY & jealously among a few people who can't just digest my style of working .
But WE DARE TO DREAM & WE SERVE THE POOR WHERE NO ONE VEBTURES INTO .
Please do support us through your blessings , prayers and donations

DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT, GOVERNMENT OF GOA, SHRI AJIT PANCHWADKAR, PERSONALLY ADMITS A POOR GOAN MAN SUFFERING FROM SEVERE MENTAL DISABILITIES FROM IPHB INTO OUR SHELTER HOME

5.1.2024. 7pm IST
♡♡♡ Director of Social Welfare Department, Government of Goa, Shri Ajit Panchwadkar, personally admitts a poor Goan man suffering from severe mental disabilities from IPHB into our shelter home in the department car.
♡♡♡ Thanks to the Social Welfare Minister Shri Subhash Phal Dessai for all his silent support behind the scene.
Well you must hear and watch the above link to understand how Government of Goa through Social Welfare department is attempting to address the issues of poor goans suffering from disabilities who if not admitted into a shelter home might end up homeless.
In the last 6 years I have seen 7 to 8 Directors on that lovely chair but the current Director Shri Ajit Panchwadkar is a man who knows how to get things done professionally, systematically and a no nonsense officer with no time wasting.
Its either Yes or No. That's his style. Straight forward, which keeps him in a class apart.
Well 1.1.2024 , we had a small press in the office of The Social Welfare Department which was to be attended by The Hon Minister of Social Welfare but due to important work The Hon Minister could not attend and instructed the Director,  Shri Ajit to take it forward.
Our intention is to involve 2 departments ie
Women & Child and Social Welfare in this big issue of poor goans suffering from mental disabilities and due to poverty are turning homeless on the streets.
And yes both The Ministers of both departments along with their Directors will be involved to support us in this service towards the poor goans turning homeless due to disabilities.
Our NGO is determined to get staff who work in both departments to go beyond their call of duty and work on the ground with prior permissions from the department heads.
Sitting in offices does not give a feeling of the ground reality where poor people suffer and it's time we changed this system by helping those on the streets.
And that's what happened on 3.1.24 at 3 pm when Shri Ajit, Director of Social Welfare Department himself visited IPHB , met Dr Anil Rane and Mr Suddesh Gaude , understood the issues at IPHB regarding rehabilitation of genuine poor goans especially who need rehabilitation but due to no shelter homes often reach the streets.
Shri Ajit Panchwadkar had committed at that press conference, to provide transport facility as & when required by us to bring any poor goan person with disabilites from the IPHB to our shelter homes and that's what he stood by on 3.1.24.
The patient is a poor goan man from Navelim whose sister too is in our home for over two years as she too suffers from chronic mental disabilities and their elderly mother is frail and I am told sick and bed bound so no one to  monitor his daily medicine.
According to protocol it's the duty of the Social Welfare Department to run their own homes and transport such genuine poor people suffering from mental disabilities into the homes in their own vehicles.
Now, since they at the moment they are not having space at Provedoria , Street Providence is next stop always for all government departments,  as we are ALWAYS having ample of space to always accept the poorest of the poor be it on priorty basis Goans as well as non goans.
We welcome this great inniative and support given in the form of free transportation of shifting genuine cases of poor goans suffering from mental disabilities from IPHB to our homes by The Social Welfare Department headed by The Dynamic and workaholic Director, Shri Ajit Panchwadkar.
( not to forget The Social Welfare Minister without whose knowledge this inniative would not be possible ).
We also await this same support of free transportation of Women suffering from mental disabilities from Women & Child Department headed by another wonderful Minister Shri Vishwajeet Rane .
Ultimately both departments should work with us for the benefit of our poor Goans suffering from mental disabilities who if not rehabilitated will be reaching the streets.
Well it's a new year , new ideas , new directors in both departments but same old never ending problems of poor goans suffering from mental disabilities in need of shelter homes for rehabilitation.
We are sure to get the support of both Ministers but as you have heard ” there is always a slip between the cup and the lip ” & if that takes place then we will definitely withdraw from providing rehabilitation to the those in the future .
We are committed and it's time both these Hon Ministers along with their Directors also show their commitment.
Nothing is free and nothing comes free.
