OVER 12 YEARS THIS SAME LADY DUE TO MENTAL DISABILITIES LIVED ON STREETS, SLEPT UNDER TREES AND ON FOOTPATHS

28.11.2024. 8pm IST
This goan lady now lives in a home, sleeps on a bed , sits on a chair and eats meals on a table; has a bath daily, changes her clothes daily, replies to questions when asked.
So what's the big deal ?
Well for over 12 years this same lady due to mental disabilities lived on streets, slept under trees and on footpaths , ate food from unhygienc places, always wore only 1 red saree, no table manners & totally aggressive and disoriented.
But with 18 months of rehabilitation, medication, care , monthly follow ups and blood tests , today she is much cooler , calmer and oriented but has may be early stages of Parkinsons.

That's what STREET PROVIDENCE homes are all about.
DARE TO DREAM the impossible.
Image the hurts , insults, abuse, loneliness she went through for 12 long years where I assume her emotions took a hit very badly.
Only solution is shelter homes/ half way homes/ mid way homes.
If not brought to us by Goa Police today this lady would have still been on the streets or would be Permanently locked up in the mental hospital.
☆ Her only fault : poverty and death of her husband many years back which made her loose her peace of mind.
☆ Result : today she can't be left by herself as she has to be monitored and given her daily psychiatric medication.
☆ Future : Hon CM needs to understand that there are many Goan ladies like her turning up homeless on the streets due to mental disabilities.
☆ Need of the hour : state government needs to address this issue on a war footing.
◇◇◇ We request you to come forward and provide help to women on the streets suffering from mental disabilities by complaining to the nearest police station & putting pressure on the local MLA to see that such ladies are taken off the streets.
Not an easy task at Street Providence but some one needs to do this service when the Government pretends to look the other side .
It's really tiring, expensive, complicated, difficult but yet achievable and we need your help to help so many in the streets of Goa who just might be waiting for a second chance to get off the streets

HON. CM OF GOA YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE PLIGHT OF HUNDREDS OF SUCH POOR GOAN ETHNIC MEN WHO ARE LIVING AND DYING ON THE STREETS OF GOA

26.11.2024.   7 pm IST
Mr LEOPOLDO a poor ethnic homeless goan is going through the worst period of his life & It's the most difficult situation to ever be in life for anyone when is abandoned, in poverty, old aged and suffering from mental disabilities.
Hon CM of Goa you need to understand the plight of hundreds of such poor Goan ethnic men who are living and dying on the streets of Goa.
Why ?
Because of these reasons :
☆ 1. Old aged homes don't take anyone without fees or deposit.
☆ 2. Provedoria run by the government has alot of paperwork to be done before admission and most of these men have no papers and all the homes are full.
☆ 3. There are absolutely no shelter homes run by the government.
☆ 4. Of the 5 homes we run for men, only one is funded as of date with just Rs 2500 per man per month with a cap of only 10 men per home.
☆ 5. All religious heads are not opening up more homes for poor people with mental disabilities including my own religious head.
Look at this man in the link .
Ethnic Goan from CAMURLIM Bardez Goa.
Mr LEOPOLDO.
Brought off the streets 18 months from DMC College Khorlim by Mapusa police in a very unclean and pathetic mental state.
Due to old aged , had a fall in the home & last 15 days admitted into the government hospital.
How would any GOAN politician or religious head feel if their brother, father , relatives were like LEOPOLDO ?
Just because GOANS like LEOPOLDO are old and no value to the goan politicians that they are not considered as fellow citizens ?
Then how today we are celebrating our country 75 years of the constitution ?
Where the constitution provides and guarantees the right to life in India but with already 15% of our population classified as persons with disabilities, who is going to provide basic facilities to such Indians suffering on the streets?
See how the poor are getting poorer and the politicians are PRETENDING that there are no funds for welfare schemes benefitting the people with mental disabilities in Goa ?
Hon CM you need to step in quickly and get up and running PALLIATIVE CARE HOMES & HALF WAY HOMES for men with mental disabilities.
Our main disappointment are too many :
》Pick from the streets,
》Stabilise them in IPHB,
》Servicing at the shelter Home to keep them alive & kicking,
》Incase of hospitalization pay all the bills , keep an attendant, pay the attendant which is Rs 1500 to Rs 2000 for 24 hours,
》If dead then pay for the funeral expenses.
But what is the Hon CM and his government doing for such poor ethnic homeless goans especially men ?
Nothing, absolutely nothing and it's a big SHAME that crores of Rupees are spent on entertainment & unwanted events but on human beings with mental disabilities no funds.
We have close to 120 such poor goan men all in bad and horrible health conditions and if not with us In our homes then either will be living on the streets or staying permanently in some government hospital like IPHB where 70 such people – Goan & non goans are presently living for years.
Our country is growing rapidly but what about the better health facilities for poor people on the streets who are also citizens of this country ?
Hon CM you need to listen to our problems as we are working on the ground unlike the officers and Directors of your departments who are only doing paperwork and endless meetings which does not  take the homeless off the streets in Goa.
It's getting really tight as too many calls and everyone expects us to say yes and open the doors of our homes but without Government funding it's not going smoothly & we can't oblige all & everyone.
The costs of running up and down to hospitals with the homeless to keep them in the best of health both mentally & physically is too much to handle both with manpower and finances.
We are always ready to help but funding is the main concern and without donations it's next to impossible.
We thank our generous benefactors for the support & generosity over all these last 7 years which enabled us to keep our homes up and running and from just 1 home in Dec 2017 to now 2024 we have 11 homes in Goa.
♡♡♡ Thanks to The Government of Goa for not troubling us in the last 7 years through any sort of harassment.

HON CM OF GOA , LISTEN TO US AS WE ARE ON THE GROUND DOING THE COMPLICATED & HARD WORK YOUR GOVERNMENT IS SUPPOSE TO DO

24.11.24. 8pm. IST
Hon CM of Goa , listen to us as we are on the ground doing the complicated & hard work your government is suppose to do .
Don't let the sun set down on poor goan ladies with mental disabilities on the streets
But why are the Police not picking up people from the streets and admitting them into the mental hospital ?
Your answer is at the end of this post.
Mid September 2024, this poor goan homeless abandoned lady was picked up by us with the help of Mapusa police as well present was Mrs Aishwarya Salgaonkar and our NGO admitted her into IPHB ( not the police ) as she was violent and had been living on the streets of HANUMAN NATYAGRAHA Mapusa just opposite to Hotel Satyaheera with severe mental disabilities.
Sangeeta is the name we kept her as she did not even remember her name while admitting her into IPHB on that day .
From mid April 24 till mid Sept 24 , same corner right on the footpath, the entire summer & the entire rainy season, Sangeeta lived on that street.
Imagine a lady living in a major city of goa where thousands of people if not a lakh of people daily cross this HANUMAN NATYAGRAHA corner.
Mapusa police station is just 200 meters away from this corner and each and every police at mapusa police station has to cross this corner.
Well today Sangeeta was discharged from IPHB & we admitted her into our home.
So why could the police not do this earlier ?
Well , for the police to admitt a homeless into the IPHB is a :
1.nightmare,
2.with extensive paperwork,
3.waste of human time & finally
4.waste of the valuable government resources.
Sounds strange. Let me break it up.
☆ 1. Nightmare – most of these homeless are unclean, aggressive, abusive & harmful in nature.
☆ 2. Extensive paperwork –
》pick the homeless,
》Take to the local PHC,
》Conduct a medical report,
》Then locate the city Magistrate,
》If its night time go to the home of the city Magistrate who always is a resident of another city along with the homeless.
If its day time local Magistrate is in court so wait.
》Once Magistrate sees the homeless then will issue an order.
》Take the order and go to IPHB.
》Stand in line with the homeless.
》Who might be smelly & no toilet habits.
》IPHB will do some checking & refer to GMC.
》GMC another Line and wait for reports.
Bring patient & reports back to IPHB.
》Then they will admitt.
☆ 3. Waste of Human time –
In the above process, minimum 12 hours is needed with :
》One PSI
》3 to 4 constables
》1 driver
》Petrol & police car.
This same process if through STREET PROVIDENCE is only 2 hours & 2 constables.
Government should understand this huge saving of time & resources.
☆ 4. Waste of valuable government resources –
Well once this same homeless person is ready for discharge, the police don't run shelter homes so either they just ignore the calls from IPHB to sign for the discharge of any patient admitted thru the Magistrate Order OR
The patient may tell IPHB they want to be discharged OR
The police sign the discharge and the patient walks away back to the streets as there is no family to take them home.
After few days same story on the streets and police again feel it's useless to repeat the same exercise as after a few weeks again the cycle goes round and round.
Well that's the reason SANGEETA was not picked up by the police and admitted into IPHB but we picked up Sangeeta , supported by The police and our NGO admitted her into IPHB.
Today our NGO signed Sangeeta discharge papers and police gave an NOC to admitt into our shelter homes.
Today Sangeeta ate food on a table, read / flipped through some books , slept at night On a warm bed , watched Television.
Who knows how and what is going on in her mind.
Still says in the last 24 hours ” I don't want to stay in a home I want to live on the streets, picking up waste bottles & smoking her biddies”.
Now you all got the answer why when u go to the police station to address the issue of homeless with mental disabilities is not taken seriously?
So who is to blame for this mess ?
Obviously The Hon CM of the state as Police & finance are always under The CM of the state.
If the Finance department does not give the funds to the women & Child Department for grants to be given to NGOs running shelter Homes for women on the streets with mental disabilities then it's The Hon CM Fault.
And no NGO is crazy to look after homeless people with disabilities without Government grants and supoort.
I hope you got the answer to the question at the start of this post.
The Sorkar / Government under The Hon CM of Goa please take note.
By coming Wednesday ie 27th Nov 2024 we will hitting the streets again and may be forced to take our residents to meet The Hon CM of Goa as with Rs 33 per day for food and Rs 6.67 paisa per day for medicines it's just not possible any more to carry on.
Maharashtra elections are over ,
Exposition started
IFFI innaugrated.
So now The Hon CM of Goa should give us an appointment & fulfill his commitment when he addressed our lady residents as HIS MOTHERS & SISTERS on 2nd Oct 2024 when we visited him In his Bungalow & assured to release the other 60% of our grants.

FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA IS ONCE AGAIN SERVING MEALS AT THE EXPOSITION OF ST FRANCIS XAVIER AT OLD GOA

21.11.24.  8 pm IST
FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA is once again serving meals at the Exposition of St Francis Xavier at Old Goa in the Parking lot
( Ribander side ).
We have partnered with NAVTARA group of restaurants who will be providing these meals at a discounted rate to our food bank for the entire 45 days.
It's not free but we have to pay the bills.
Initially we are serving in the afternoon between 1 pm to 2.30 pm
And in a day or two we will also serve
8 am to 9 am .
♡♡♡ Thanks to The Government of Goa @
1. Shri Alex Sequeira, Hon Minister & Deputy Chairman of Exposition Secretariat
2. Shri Sandeep Jacquees, Commissioner of the Exposition.
3. Madam Shila Nagvenkar &
4. Madam Suruchi Shirodker,
for providing Free of Cost the stall to our NGO in the most perfect place as well as organizing the stall .
It was a push from Sir Bosco George Retd IPS our volunteer who suggested that we serve meals to the poor and needy for the entire 45 days.
♡♡♡ We thank our associates and team members for volunteering to assist in serving meals during these 45 days.
Food banks are usually for the poor and the needy and we are blessed to be able to play a small part In providing what we can afford to those who will need this small morsel of food to surfice their hunger.
One query most will have ie :
Funds for 45 days and who is footing the bills ?
Well we invite well wishers and benefactors to support us as we TRY to do the little we can.
An excellent opportunity TO SOW IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD incase you are celebrating any functions during these 45 days like:
》Birthday
》Wedding anniversary
》Death anniversary of a dear one
》Getting married in the coming days
Feeding the poor / BHIKHAREANCHEM JEVONN
Once you donate you can also come along and stand in the stall and serve the food.
We had approached the Government of Goa one month back for two projects :
☆ 1. Feeding the poorest of the poor who will be coming for the Exposition &
☆ 2. Caring and rehabilitation of the weakest of the weak who will and might be on the streets in need of rehabilitation.
We are aware that we were the only NGO submitting both such proposals.
Government officials only went ahead with the food stall.
We are waiting for a reply on the rehabilitation proposal as no human with disabilities or due to poverty should be living on the streets in OLD GOA begging during these 45 days.
WE DARE TO DREAM in ENDING HUNGER & HOMELESSNESS in GOA.
All querries strictly through whatsapp messages only on 8380097564.
No negative comments please on this post as we are focusing on the poorest of the poor who might require a meal and a hand to get off the streets during the Exposition.
St Francis Xavier too would be smiling from above knowing that we are caring for the poorest of the poor during his Exposition.
God bless you all

WE ADMITTED 2 POOR GOAN PATIENTS BOTH FROM CORTALIM CONSTITUENCY.

18.11.24. 7pm. IST
Today we admitted 2 poor goan patients both from CORTALIM CONSTITUENCY.
One with mental disabilities
one with physical disabilities.
◇ 1st one is an poor unmarried middle aged lady with severe mental disabilities last many years may be 30 years, not taking medication & whose elderly mother is too old to manage her own self with 2 other younger siblings who might need help in the future in our homes as they have no one and no source of income.
◇ 2nd one is a goan man whose wife, children & daughter in law refuse to care for him due to a severe stroke one full side and living in inhumane conditions which no one should ever go through.
Both patients brought to our home by 2 kind hearted human beings after seeing their plight.
Remember one thing : admission is always open to any and all goans with disabilites who are poor and needy.
But paper work is to be done by those wishing to help such genuine poor patients.
Reason ?
》One –  is to see the genuinety of the person wishing to admitt the patient.

》Two –  to avoid any further complications which ultimately leads to the NGO getting blamed.
It's an intensive paperwork for the above two reasons.
Paperwork required is as follows :
☆ Police NOC from local police station.
☆ WCD recommendation letter If its lady patient.
☆ Local Sarpanch recommendation letter.
☆ Local MLA recommendation letter.
☆ If Catholic – letter from Parish priest / church
☆ If Hindu – letter from local temple committee.
At the time of death,  Burial / cremation is mostly done in the village of origin and then the authorities can't say he / she is not from our village.
If patient having family members then signed affidavit on Rs 100 stamp paper.
If psychiatric patient then latest prescription only from IPHB as we don't entertain private prescriptions.
If physical disabilities – medical reports from government recognized hospitals.
I must appreciate two people , both ladies, one a nun and one a senior citizen lady who complied with all my instructions and that made me belive that YES both are genuinely in need of care and rehabilitation.
Many many times we are called & requested to open our doors for rehabilitation just because so & so recommended us & we are expected to do all the running around & paperwork which I point blank refuse.
The nun took alot of trouble for patient 1  including :
1. convincing the mother to 1st admitt the patient into IPHB as she was very violent and uncontrollable
2. went up and down to police to get the constables to accompany the patient to IPHB.
3. accompanying  the police and the patient to IPHB for admission.
4. Getting all the documents ready which took alot of time from all the above authorities.
5. Getting the Sarpanch and Parish priest to the home of the patient and they explained to the mother to send her to a rehab as her mental state is very delicate
6. Today discharge where the nun was present.
The senior citizen lady for patient 2 was amazing.
Usually people complain that dealing with me is difficult.
But this senior citizen lady did all the required paperwork Strictly thru WHATSAPP MESSAGES only and today herself along with the patient drove in her car from CORTALIM CONSTITUENCY to our home at Assnora.
Salute to this elderly lady with her patience & determination.
I learnt alot of things today from her and yet,
I have not meet her or seen her.
Our team handles everything once the paperwork is clear & approved from office.
We are committed to caring and rehabilitation of such poor ethinc genuine goans but the resources / grants are important.
Coming Wednesday again 2 more admissions from IPHB both goans .
Humble request :
Please support us on Tuesday ie tomorrow 19.11.24 at 10am as we highlight to the Government at a protest at Azad Maidan Panjim  how due to lack of shelter homes, poor goans are suffering with disabilities in their Homes.
This is the Government job to provide services to the poorest of the poor with disabilities but it's just not happening quickly and the way it's suppose to happen.

JOIN US ON 19th NOV 2024 TUESDAY AT AZAD MAIDAN PANJIM FOR A PROTEST AT 10 am.

17.11.2024. 9am IST.          Part 1
Join us on 19th Nov 2024 Tuesday at Azad Maidan Panjim for a protest at 10 am.
Goan lady admitted and living in a mental hospital for close to 4 decades (apprx 40 years).
Today there are 70 such people living for years starting at 2 years and going up to 40 years in mental hospital. ( attaching detail list in PART 2)
Protest , as we humbly togther request The SORKAR to look at the number of poor Goan ladies ( & gents ) turning homeless due to mental disabilities and either living & dying on the streets or getting locked up in mental hospitals for months years & even decades.
The SORKAR should either start their own homes or be more considerate towards our NGO which is already having shelter homes for poor people with mental disabilities.
The SORKAR is not doing enough for those suffering from mental disabilities and most disappointing is ” promising to increase the funding for grants towards shelter homes but it's not happening as expected “.
Well caring for poor ladies ( & gents ) with mental disabilities is not possible or viable service without The SORKAR support & that's why there are absolutely no shelter homes besides Street Providence.
We run 11 homes with a 240 bed capacity for men & ladies.
We are intending to double the capacity to 500 beds but only if The SORKAR supports.
When The SORKAR gives you grant in 2024 @ of :
》Rs 33 per day for 3 meals &
》Rs 6.67 paisa per day for psychiatric medication, still no one is starting homes for people with mental disabilities.
Why no one is starting homes?
Because the above rates are as per the inflation rate calculated in the year 2007 and we are currently in the year 2024.
Can anyone feed a psychiatric poor lady patient with Rs 33 per day or Rs 1000 per month ?
What type of psychiatric medication can one buy with Rs 6.67 per day or Rs 200 per month when caring for ladies patients with disabilities ?
◇ A. No proper funding leads to no one starting shelter homes.

◇ B. No shelter homes means more poor goans turning homeless on the streets.

◇ C. More homeless means break down of system.

◇ D. Break Down of system leads to pile up of poor people in mental hospitals.

◇ E. Over loading of mental hospitals means beds are occupied.

◇ F. Occupied beds in mental hospitals means fresh and genuine patients can't access mental facilities resulting again in them living on the streets.

◇ G. Police can't do much as after admitting these homeless or poor goans into mental hospitals they are discharged after few days as mental hospitals are not shelter homes

◇ H. So cycle repeats because of LACK OF SHELTER HOMES.
And LACK OF SHELTER HOMES is due to grants or funding given at inflation rate calculated at 2007 towards food and medication which are the most important components of shelter homes for poor with mental disabilities.
So don't get disappointed when you call me to provide rehabilitation to poor goans suffering from mental disabilities or the homeless on the streets and I just can't help on the spot.
●●●● Kindly note : ●●●●
These grants are only for ladies.
For men nothing is given. ABSOLUTELY ZERO.
Where is the $$$$$$ ?.
Daily we receive request at times upto 3 or 4 for admission and that not possible to entertain as there is no sufficient support from The SORKAR
With already 15% of our population suffering from disabilities it's a worrying affair and the percentage is rising but THE SORKAR is not blinking their eyes towards MENTAL DISABILITIES but only putting money on PHYSICAL DISABILITIES.
Worse is those adults with INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES as that's another nightmare to handle and here too no shelter homes.
Inspite of my wilingness to take in more poor goans with mental disabilities & with an abnormal high levels of motivation, your support is still required on 19.11.24 at 10 am to impress upon The SORKAR to address the issues before it gets out of hand.
At times I too feel or get thoughts to one day pack my bags and shut down the homes or rather reduce fresh admissions into our homes.
Of all the residents in our homes,  minimum
80+ residents are going to end up back in the mental hospital, the day i decide i can't manage any further.
These 80+ residents are chronic patients with high level of mental disabilities who will never ever recover and require 24*7 rehabilitation and care.
Imagine this :
Bed capacity at the mental hospital 190 .
Already permanently occupied beds 70.
We have 80 chronic residents.
We are understanding but currently being pushed and if we push back then it will collapse.
SORKAR – ” please listen to our requests “.
We are calling upon you our well wishers, friends, activists, politicians, benefactors, critics, media – social, electronic and others to help us get help to the poorest of the poor with mental Disabilities.
Help them to get a home to stay rather than live in a mental hospital for years/decades or die on the streets as they too have a right to life and are INDIAN CITIZENS.
All communications strictly through whatsapp messages only on 8380097564.
Let's meet on 19.11.24 at 10am Azad Maidan Panjim Goa.
God bless you all
