FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA IS ONCE AGAIN SERVING MEALS AT THE EXPOSITION OF ST FRANCIS XAVIER AT OLD GOA

21.11.24.  8 pm IST
FOOD BANK FOR THE POOR SANGOLDA GOA is once again serving meals at the Exposition of St Francis Xavier at Old Goa in the Parking lot
( Ribander side ).
We have partnered with NAVTARA group of restaurants who will be providing these meals at a discounted rate to our food bank for the entire 45 days.
It's not free but we have to pay the bills.
Initially we are serving in the afternoon between 1 pm to 2.30 pm
And in a day or two we will also serve
8 am to 9 am .
♡♡♡ Thanks to The Government of Goa @
1. Shri Alex Sequeira, Hon Minister & Deputy Chairman of Exposition Secretariat
2. Shri Sandeep Jacquees, Commissioner of the Exposition.
3. Madam Shila Nagvenkar &
4. Madam Suruchi Shirodker,
for providing Free of Cost the stall to our NGO in the most perfect place as well as organizing the stall .
It was a push from Sir Bosco George Retd IPS our volunteer who suggested that we serve meals to the poor and needy for the entire 45 days.
♡♡♡ We thank our associates and team members for volunteering to assist in serving meals during these 45 days.
Food banks are usually for the poor and the needy and we are blessed to be able to play a small part In providing what we can afford to those who will need this small morsel of food to surfice their hunger.
One query most will have ie :
Funds for 45 days and who is footing the bills ?
Well we invite well wishers and benefactors to support us as we TRY to do the little we can.
An excellent opportunity TO SOW IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD incase you are celebrating any functions during these 45 days like:
》Birthday
》Wedding anniversary
》Death anniversary of a dear one
》Getting married in the coming days
Feeding the poor / BHIKHAREANCHEM JEVONN
Once you donate you can also come along and stand in the stall and serve the food.
We had approached the Government of Goa one month back for two projects :
☆ 1. Feeding the poorest of the poor who will be coming for the Exposition &
☆ 2. Caring and rehabilitation of the weakest of the weak who will and might be on the streets in need of rehabilitation.
We are aware that we were the only NGO submitting both such proposals.
Government officials only went ahead with the food stall.
We are waiting for a reply on the rehabilitation proposal as no human with disabilities or due to poverty should be living on the streets in OLD GOA begging during these 45 days.
WE DARE TO DREAM in ENDING HUNGER & HOMELESSNESS in GOA.
All querries strictly through whatsapp messages only on 8380097564.
No negative comments please on this post as we are focusing on the poorest of the poor who might require a meal and a hand to get off the streets during the Exposition.
St Francis Xavier too would be smiling from above knowing that we are caring for the poorest of the poor during his Exposition.
God bless you all

WE ADMITTED 2 POOR GOAN PATIENTS BOTH FROM CORTALIM CONSTITUENCY.

18.11.24. 7pm. IST
Today we admitted 2 poor goan patients both from CORTALIM CONSTITUENCY.
One with mental disabilities
one with physical disabilities.
◇ 1st one is an poor unmarried middle aged lady with severe mental disabilities last many years may be 30 years, not taking medication & whose elderly mother is too old to manage her own self with 2 other younger siblings who might need help in the future in our homes as they have no one and no source of income.
◇ 2nd one is a goan man whose wife, children & daughter in law refuse to care for him due to a severe stroke one full side and living in inhumane conditions which no one should ever go through.
Both patients brought to our home by 2 kind hearted human beings after seeing their plight.
Remember one thing : admission is always open to any and all goans with disabilites who are poor and needy.
But paper work is to be done by those wishing to help such genuine poor patients.
Reason ?
》One –  is to see the genuinety of the person wishing to admitt the patient.

》Two –  to avoid any further complications which ultimately leads to the NGO getting blamed.
It's an intensive paperwork for the above two reasons.
Paperwork required is as follows :
☆ Police NOC from local police station.
☆ WCD recommendation letter If its lady patient.
☆ Local Sarpanch recommendation letter.
☆ Local MLA recommendation letter.
☆ If Catholic – letter from Parish priest / church
☆ If Hindu – letter from local temple committee.
At the time of death,  Burial / cremation is mostly done in the village of origin and then the authorities can't say he / she is not from our village.
If patient having family members then signed affidavit on Rs 100 stamp paper.
If psychiatric patient then latest prescription only from IPHB as we don't entertain private prescriptions.
If physical disabilities – medical reports from government recognized hospitals.
I must appreciate two people , both ladies, one a nun and one a senior citizen lady who complied with all my instructions and that made me belive that YES both are genuinely in need of care and rehabilitation.
Many many times we are called & requested to open our doors for rehabilitation just because so & so recommended us & we are expected to do all the running around & paperwork which I point blank refuse.
The nun took alot of trouble for patient 1  including :
1. convincing the mother to 1st admitt the patient into IPHB as she was very violent and uncontrollable
2. went up and down to police to get the constables to accompany the patient to IPHB.
3. accompanying  the police and the patient to IPHB for admission.
4. Getting all the documents ready which took alot of time from all the above authorities.
5. Getting the Sarpanch and Parish priest to the home of the patient and they explained to the mother to send her to a rehab as her mental state is very delicate
6. Today discharge where the nun was present.
The senior citizen lady for patient 2 was amazing.
Usually people complain that dealing with me is difficult.
But this senior citizen lady did all the required paperwork Strictly thru WHATSAPP MESSAGES only and today herself along with the patient drove in her car from CORTALIM CONSTITUENCY to our home at Assnora.
Salute to this elderly lady with her patience & determination.
I learnt alot of things today from her and yet,
I have not meet her or seen her.
Our team handles everything once the paperwork is clear & approved from office.
We are committed to caring and rehabilitation of such poor ethinc genuine goans but the resources / grants are important.
Coming Wednesday again 2 more admissions from IPHB both goans .
Humble request :
Please support us on Tuesday ie tomorrow 19.11.24 at 10am as we highlight to the Government at a protest at Azad Maidan Panjim  how due to lack of shelter homes, poor goans are suffering with disabilities in their Homes.
This is the Government job to provide services to the poorest of the poor with disabilities but it's just not happening quickly and the way it's suppose to happen.

JOIN US ON 19th NOV 2024 TUESDAY AT AZAD MAIDAN PANJIM FOR A PROTEST AT 10 am.

17.11.2024. 9am IST.          Part 1
Join us on 19th Nov 2024 Tuesday at Azad Maidan Panjim for a protest at 10 am.
Goan lady admitted and living in a mental hospital for close to 4 decades (apprx 40 years).
Today there are 70 such people living for years starting at 2 years and going up to 40 years in mental hospital. ( attaching detail list in PART 2)
Protest , as we humbly togther request The SORKAR to look at the number of poor Goan ladies ( & gents ) turning homeless due to mental disabilities and either living & dying on the streets or getting locked up in mental hospitals for months years & even decades.
The SORKAR should either start their own homes or be more considerate towards our NGO which is already having shelter homes for poor people with mental disabilities.
The SORKAR is not doing enough for those suffering from mental disabilities and most disappointing is ” promising to increase the funding for grants towards shelter homes but it's not happening as expected “.
Well caring for poor ladies ( & gents ) with mental disabilities is not possible or viable service without The SORKAR support & that's why there are absolutely no shelter homes besides Street Providence.
We run 11 homes with a 240 bed capacity for men & ladies.
We are intending to double the capacity to 500 beds but only if The SORKAR supports.
When The SORKAR gives you grant in 2024 @ of :
》Rs 33 per day for 3 meals &
》Rs 6.67 paisa per day for psychiatric medication, still no one is starting homes for people with mental disabilities.
Why no one is starting homes?
Because the above rates are as per the inflation rate calculated in the year 2007 and we are currently in the year 2024.
Can anyone feed a psychiatric poor lady patient with Rs 33 per day or Rs 1000 per month ?
What type of psychiatric medication can one buy with Rs 6.67 per day or Rs 200 per month when caring for ladies patients with disabilities ?
◇ A. No proper funding leads to no one starting shelter homes.

◇ B. No shelter homes means more poor goans turning homeless on the streets.

◇ C. More homeless means break down of system.

◇ D. Break Down of system leads to pile up of poor people in mental hospitals.

◇ E. Over loading of mental hospitals means beds are occupied.

◇ F. Occupied beds in mental hospitals means fresh and genuine patients can't access mental facilities resulting again in them living on the streets.

◇ G. Police can't do much as after admitting these homeless or poor goans into mental hospitals they are discharged after few days as mental hospitals are not shelter homes

◇ H. So cycle repeats because of LACK OF SHELTER HOMES.
And LACK OF SHELTER HOMES is due to grants or funding given at inflation rate calculated at 2007 towards food and medication which are the most important components of shelter homes for poor with mental disabilities.
So don't get disappointed when you call me to provide rehabilitation to poor goans suffering from mental disabilities or the homeless on the streets and I just can't help on the spot.
●●●● Kindly note : ●●●●
These grants are only for ladies.
For men nothing is given. ABSOLUTELY ZERO.
Where is the $$$$$$ ?.
Daily we receive request at times upto 3 or 4 for admission and that not possible to entertain as there is no sufficient support from The SORKAR
With already 15% of our population suffering from disabilities it's a worrying affair and the percentage is rising but THE SORKAR is not blinking their eyes towards MENTAL DISABILITIES but only putting money on PHYSICAL DISABILITIES.
Worse is those adults with INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES as that's another nightmare to handle and here too no shelter homes.
Inspite of my wilingness to take in more poor goans with mental disabilities & with an abnormal high levels of motivation, your support is still required on 19.11.24 at 10 am to impress upon The SORKAR to address the issues before it gets out of hand.
At times I too feel or get thoughts to one day pack my bags and shut down the homes or rather reduce fresh admissions into our homes.
Of all the residents in our homes,  minimum
80+ residents are going to end up back in the mental hospital, the day i decide i can't manage any further.
These 80+ residents are chronic patients with high level of mental disabilities who will never ever recover and require 24*7 rehabilitation and care.
Imagine this :
Bed capacity at the mental hospital 190 .
Already permanently occupied beds 70.
We have 80 chronic residents.
We are understanding but currently being pushed and if we push back then it will collapse.
SORKAR – ” please listen to our requests “.
We are calling upon you our well wishers, friends, activists, politicians, benefactors, critics, media – social, electronic and others to help us get help to the poorest of the poor with mental Disabilities.
Help them to get a home to stay rather than live in a mental hospital for years/decades or die on the streets as they too have a right to life and are INDIAN CITIZENS.
All communications strictly through whatsapp messages only on 8380097564.

WHO IS TO BE BLAMED FOR NDPS REACHING TO SCHOOL & COLLEGE CHILDREN ACROSS OUR STATE ?

12.11 2024. 7pm IST
Who is to be blamed for NDPS reaching to school & college children across our state ?
The answer is at the end of this post so read slowly.
There are many causes for mental disabilities & the most frightening cause is substance abuse or NDPS which in due course of time leads to mental disabilities & even difficult to handle intellectual disabilities.
NDPS distribution is a well organised system which involves all level of powers to be,  as without higher up support, nothing happens.
Who suffers ? Young children.
Who we blame ? The Government.
Well two sections of children are very vulnerable and that is 9th std & 11th std.
Why these two sections?
Well all suppliers of NDPS have their own demarcated areas to conduct their business with monthly PROTECTION outgoing at all levels.
Any new entrant / supplier in a demarcated Area leads to the PROTECTION outgoing reducing even if the new entrant/ supplier has actually moved even 1% of what that demarcated area actually consumes.
So what happens – the old supplier gets the new supplier out of his area.
How ? – by stopping his PROTECTION charges going up to all levels.
Or
Wherever and whoever gets their regular PROTECTION charges , use the authorities & fix the new supplier.
But by now the new supplier tasted huge windfall returns and searches for new clients.
The only new clients always which are available will be 9th & 11th std students.
The education stress is so high that parents like me included want my child to do well .
But what about the child ?
Is the parent monitoring the child progress?
Is the parent physically dropping and picking up ones own child ?
Is the parent aware of the activity in the education place & extra classes place ?
Is the parent sitting daily with the child at home to help with the child studies?
My wife quit her job after marriage to dedicate  her time and energy to the welfare of our children.
For 4 full years , ie entire 9th to 12th std we both dropped and picked up daily our son to school  and college and when not possible we employed a senior citizen motor cycle pilot as we stay in a place where public transport is not existing.
My wife sits with all 3 of our children for all their studies daily.
No tutuions.
Being aware of the lolly pops ie NDPS,  the new suppliers offer to young children in 9th & 11th std, made us both dedicate our time to pick up and drop all 4 years.
Well all of us parents are caught up with our own lives and jobs.
We all want DOUBLE INCOME any how.
Young children want love and affection from parents which today times is substituted by cash bikes phones parties etc.
Both parents are or may be working or may be business activities or political activities , so child is by one self.
Now such children are told by these new entrants / suppliers ” see if you take this tablet your memory level will increase and you will pass with flying colors without stress and studying hard”.
That's the start of a new permanent customer to this new supplier.
Basically all children from rural parts travel to the bigger towns and cities for education purposes and that's how NDPS has reached into rural parts of the state.
Once these children get hooked to NDPS and we parents notice the symptoms, most of the times the damage has been done & recovery is slow or never going to happen.
Any damages done by consumption of NDPS ie synthetic substance the recovery will happen only after 6 years of rehabilitation & that too upto may be 50% of the mental level.
There is no ANTIDOTE to NDPS which is a  chemical in a tablet sold as a lolly pop.
And,  year after year the chemical tablet gets upgraded meaning the kick is faster as well as the cells in the mind / brain breaking down even more faster.
Our mind / brain is made up if cells & NDPS consumption destroys the cells slowly but damages are huge.
Trust me by 2029 , the population across our state will be going through a huge turmoil & the no of cases due to NDPS consumption will be next to impossible to handle as well as contain.
We are already overloaded with requests for rehabilitation of NDPS consumption people that it's driving me nuts.
Not easy to handle,  if these minds have acquired INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES than it's a big no from my side to even try to help.
Ultimately such types of NDPS related people will end up in a very frightening  & disturbing state of dying – either killed or dead due to no NDPS or due to no care and rehabilitation.
Let's stop blaming the government & go to the root cause.
The PROTECTION  by the suppliers to the top most level of our system is then used back to fund programs and events at all important festivals around the year.
Every one is searching for donations with the respective authorities and these figures are running into crores for certain festivals.
If we have to fight NDPS it has to start from mine & your family.
Stop blaming the government and start caring for our own children in our homes and not in our houses.
Homes and houses are two different meanings for those who know what it means.
I hope you all who have read this long post got an answer to my opening question ” WHO IS TO BE BLAMED “.
I am making my self clear ” these are my studies and interactions with inmates in our homes, with parents who come to me crying, to people who I meet across sections connected to NDPS, medical prescriptions & medical reports of patients suffering from NDPS , interactions with authorities, people with higher powers , etc.
As a parent please keep an eye and ear on your child speaking about medical boosters to increase education efficiency.
More rehabilitation homes are required to meet the demand for rehabilitation for children above 18 years.

IT’S ABOUT WHAT WE ALL CAN DO FOR SOCIETY NO MATTER HOW HIGH RANKING ONE IS

10.11.2024. 7pm IST
STREET PROVIDENCE is all about TEAM WORK.
In this picture attached with this post you will see three IPS officers who understand words like homeless, disabilities, hunger , old aged,  abandoned parents.
It's about what we all can do for society no matter how high ranking one is.
Of the three IPS officers :
☆ 1. We have a retired DIG, Sir Bosco George, Goa Police.
☆ 2. We have an ADC to Hon Governor of Goa, Sir Vishram Borkar, Goa Police.
☆ 3. We have an SP at Ratnagiri district , due for     promotion very soon, Sir Dhananjay Kulkarni,       Maharashtra Police.
◇ 1. Let's start with Sir Bosco & how we got connected.
During BG tenure as an SP @ Panjim may be in 2019 , he spotted an unclean man who needed rehabilitation and we got a call.
We responded quickly and got the man to our shelter home & immediately presented the issues of homeless on the streets to BG who took up this matter to his seniors and an SOP was created.
Relations were maintained and i assume BG shared my views that poor homeless people on the streets with disabilities too have a right to live a dignified life In a shelter home.
Whenever I met BG in his office one sentence was always spoken ” when I retire I would like to volunteer to serve the poor as in my last 35 years of service I have benefitted from the state and it's time to give back “.
31st Jan 2023 was the last day of BG at Goa Police and within a few days , we enrolled or rather BG joined in as a full time Volunteer specifically to handle government paper work for Our NGO.
◇ 2. Now let's go to Sir Vishram Borkar who has been ADC to Hon Governor of Goa and in the last 6+ years in Raj Bhavan he has worked with 4 Governors.
Thru our food bank we intended to put a fridge at Raj Bhavan to collect extra food and BG had spoken to Mr Borkar to see how best this can work out.
Due to security reasons, fridge was not permitted to be installed at Raj Bhavan but another wonderful opportunity arose.
Hon Governor of Goa ( I assume on the recommendation / consultation of his ADC
Mr Borkar ) offered to donate 100 fresh cooked meals every week from the Raj Bhavan to our homes which continued for over 2 years and due to the ongoing construction at Raj Bhavan , instead of cooked food , Hon Governor gives us dry ration every week last 9 months to prepare 100 meals.
Across all Raj Bhavans in India , this is the only Governor donating food to a FOOD BANK to feed the homeless people with disabilities in shelter homes.
◇ 3. Well now the 3rd IPS officer,  Mr Kulkarni is a colleague of Sir Bosco George, may be from 2019 and now after BG retirement, is a colleague of Sir Vishram Borkar.
Sir Dhananjay Kulkarni has worked in Interpol and foreign missions and understands alot of hardships poor people go through.
As an SP of Ratnagiri district, Sir Kulkarni has huge issues at hand as this district is having Maharashtra 2nd biggest mental hospital / institute, but shelter homes for poor people with disabilities is a need of the hour especially for men.
Since we have homes now at Sawantwadi & Kankavali, it makes easier for us to expand into Ratnagiri as there is demand, as there is an institute to treat the poor with mental disabilities and an officer who has a heart to hear the cries of the poor people with mental disabilities.
Earlier this week we all were driven 250 kms one way by my good friend Mr Prakash from Saligao to Ratnagiri where we meet :
》The SP of Ratnagiri District,
》The Collector of Ratnagiri District &
》The MS of Ratnagiri mental hospital.
Police officials are the 1st line of contact to help the poor on the streets who majority are always suffering from mental disabilities.
My experience in Goa last 7 years of dealing with the Police as well as our IPHB ( Mental hospital at Bambolim) has been very good and satisfying & we will implement this formula across other districts in States where we start such homes for the poor people with mental disabilities.
For any shelter home caring for poor homeless people with mental disabilities to run successfully, only 2 departments are required :
Local police & local mental hospital.
Both these departments have to trust each other as Police bring people with disabilities from the streets and admitt.
But once stabilised, Police don't take them away as Police don't run shelter homes.
Institutes / mental hospitals don't want people with mental disabilities to live long time in their premises and that's where SHELTER HOMES like us come in.
One Gentleman named Sir Bosco George decided on retirement to work for the poor on the streets with mental disabilities and today we have a small team of kind hearted retired and retiring in the future IPS OFFICERS having a heart to do something for society in whatever little way possible.
Must add here Sir Arvind Gawas retd IPS too plays his part as we got connected to him at MOPA Airport through sir Bosco George as the recovery agency for lost and found items.
If you are a retired government official in Goa , Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand & Manipur and wish to give back to society especially towards poor people on the streets with mental disabilities then we have many opening & opportunities to use your experience & expertise in the field of your specialization.
We operate strictly through whatsapp messages only on 8380097564 so please avoid calling.
God bless you all
