NO DEPARTMENTS HAS SENT ANY PROPOSALS TO THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT ASKING FOR FUNDS FOR THE HOMELESS GOANS & THOSE WITH DISABILITIES

14.3.25. 9am IST
Goa budget session at The Goa Assemby starts on 24.3.25 , but no departments has sent any proposal to the finance department asking for funds for the homeless goans & those with disabilities.  Possible they did not think it's that important.
Yes , we are now fighting another battle failing which we at Street Providence will be unable to carry forward the shelter homes in the coming months.
Certain sections of the administration dealing with welfare , disabilities, homeless especially senior citizens are taking things very very lightly which has got me all aggressive and ready to fight.
If you see the video in the link you will know the level of FRUSTRATION, DISAPPOINTMENT & IRRITATION I am currently going thru.
This certain section of the administration has been giving me promises and sweet talk about how help in the form of grants is planned and is on the way to our shelter homes which made me belive.
But when I check with Finance department I was shocked.
Absolutely nothing is there in a budget slated for 24.3.25 for the financial year 1.4.25 to 31.3.26.
That's when I hit the streets with plans of a morcha to Hon CM house.
Immediately everyone got up & The Hon Minister Shri Subhash Phal Dessai got the whip cracking by ordering and pressuring his directors to submitt their proposals so as reach the budget session as on 24th march 25.
Our financial situation is very grim & unhealthy.
Donations are slowing down due to :
Inflation hitting the people &
Due to no benefit towards tax saving options as the income tax rates are changed in the last year.
Top it all , homeless and poor goans with mental disabilities in need of care and rehabilitation is going up on an alarming scale and everyone and anyone thinks feels & understands ” call Street Providence they will take “.
Where is the money?
We have no issue in taking but the bills are to be paid.
Donation is slowing down & no budget provision for 25-26, then how to run ?
Being an Mcom graduate and an accountant it's my job to know the numbers in the bank and today those nos will carry me till May end.
Then what ?
We have a huge organised and professional team consisting of :
◇ Two full time residential Doctors
◇ Four Physiotherapists
◇ 30 trained nurses
We also have:
◇ 10 drivers
◇ Accounts team
◇ An office team for a huge loads of paperwork
◇ Operation team.
From 2.4.25 if trade barriers are increased by USA then about 0.5% of our GDP gets wiped off which results in massive hike in prices
Add to that our exchange rate is always going up now it's at $ 87 / 88.
It's an impossible service to sustain without funds either through donations or thru government grants.
I tried and did my best now I am tired disappointed & wanting to get out of this.
It's killing me mentally and physically as the demand for care is very very high.
And it will get higher in the coming 2 years with an expected 1000 beds required to cater to the poorest of the poor goans reaching the streets due to poverty, loneliness & mental disabilities.
If you reading this post can help us then please come forward and do the needful.
We are confident that our demands for budget allocation will be done in the budget on 24.3.25 by The Hon CM.
Once again thanks to Hon Social Welfare Minister Shri Subhash Phal Dessai for assuring to get the shelter homes budget proposals by his two Directors ready before 24.3.25.
Your support counts at this crucial period.

OUR LADY RESIDENTS @ STREET PROVIDENCE, IS ENSURED BY HON CM OF GOA ON THE EVE OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY FOR THE NEXT 2 TO 3 MONTHS

8.3.25.  8pm IST
Food on the table for our lady residents @ Street Providence, is ensured by Hon CM of Goa on the eve of International women day for the next 2 to 3 months.
Due to reasons which can be either deliberate or just oversight , our food allowance increase from Rs 33 per day to Rs 200 per day was not seeing the light of day inspite of The Hon CM of Goa signing this file on 30.12.24 in the capacity as Finance Minister.
65 days follow up with department, who had many genuine reasons, to the power to be, did not result in the funds being released.
I being a non political entity with no political affiliations nor any religious support or not belonging to any particular group, have no options when funds are not released but only option hit the streets with a morcha.
That's when everyone gets up.
So on 6th March afternoon,  we announced that 7th we are hitting the streets with a morcha to Hon CM house as our needs were genuine .
7th morning I had alot of calls from the police  administration & Secretariat officers to hold on.
6th late night the WCD officials got into damage mode and did the required paperwork which should have been done 2 months earlier.
With keen interest shown from THE CMO office and clear instructions from Hon CM to the administration, everything started flying at lighting speed.
7th march 3pm , We assured the police  administration, our MORCHA is canceled and we are not marching to The Hon CM residence as there was no point.
It's clearly visible that the certain sections of the administration connected specifically to Welfare of the women and those homeless, either purposely or pressure from the top are keen to show The Hon CM in bad light
Last many months we have not hit the streets and that can be another reasons this certain section of administration connected to dealing with welfare of the homeless women & those with disa feels , thinks & assumes that our NGO has enough of funds so why release more funds.
If we hit the streets – Hon CM gets a bad name
If we don't hit the streets – administration sleeps
Hitting the streets is very stressful both to me as well as getting the residents to the streets
But how does an NGO  :
》caring for 160+ residents ( capacity 250 beds )
》with 30 full time nurses
with 30 administrative & medical staff
& 10 full time staff , survive.
Going round and round and using diplomacy in the last 1 year has made me a defender.
My role is of a forward or Striker.
We are hence forth going to hit the streets every time we feel the administration connected with the welfare of the homeless & those with disabilities are using delay tactics to release funds for our own poor goans who are homeless and suffering from disabilities, even after the Hon CM has given instructions to release our funds.
Coming 13th March 2025 , all our residents and staff ie 200+ will be again holding a press conference at Azad Maidan followed by a BIG MORCHA to Hon CM house.
Why ?
Well for 2025-2026, there is absolutely no provision for funds in the budget either from
Women & Child Department
Social Welfare Department
Persons with disabilities Department.
Our state  budget is on 26th March.
A big ZERO is allocated in shelter homes for homeless & people with disabilities.
This grant given by Hon CM on the eve of International women day will last for two months
After that what ?
If the departments created to look after Welfare of the poor are not showing interest in asking for funds from the finance department through their proposals , then it's time to get the attention of The Hon CM through our MORCHAS.
We temporarily are at peace that HON CM of GOA has shown his commitment to address the issues of homeless women on the streets due to mental disabilities by getting the paperwork sorted out in 2 hours which did not happen in 2 months.
A well meaning INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY.

FOOD BANK SANGOLDA GOA, FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS HAS BEEN DISTRIBUTING FREE BIRTHDAY CAKES TO SENIOR CITIZENS IN GOA

3.3.2025. 6pm IST
FOOD BANK SANGOLDA GOA, for the last 2 months has been distributing FREE Birthday cakes to senior citizens in GOA suffering from disabilities & registered with The Social Welfare Department.
For the month of January & February we visited 97 such families.
Attached a poster with the breakup, month wise & taluka wise.
Some times the team members sign A birthday song while at times the volunteers sit and catch up light stories and exchange greetings.
One of only kind in INDIA where any senior citizen with a UDID Card and registered with The Government of Goa gets a surprise Birthday cake absolute free right at their door step.
For those senior Citizens unable to accept a cake , we provide a basket of fruits & fresh vegetables.
Entire program is run by our volunteers across all 12 talukas in GOA.
You name it,  we are there,  Even in the remotes parts of Goa , Food Bank delivers.
We have employed a Middle aged Goan lady who herself is without hands and legs but has the ability to do the Telemarketing from her home
Imagine a person with such high degree of disabilities able to rise up to this challenge.
She calls the senior citizen two days prior to the birthday , inquiring about the birthday, location, Landmark, introduces our NGO, Checks if we can send a cake or a basket of fruits.
Then all this data is sent on a WhatsApp group which has all the concerned volunteers.
Day of the birthday , she reminds the concerned volunteer about the delivery of the cake and see that it's delivered.
Then once the picture is uploaded on the group, she calls the birthday person / family to take a feedback.
All this with a smile as she understands what it is to be a person with disabilites.
All the beneficiaries are poor simple Goans who are just at times left astonished that some one is actually coming to their Homes for their birthday with a free Cake.
It's difficult at times especially in the bigger and far flung Talukas of Goa Luke Canacona , Sanguem, Dharbandora, Quepem, Sattari.
But the Volunteers rise up to the challenge.
We thank alot of goans who have donated towards this FREE BIRTHDAY CAKE project in the last two months.
Incase you are celebrating your birthday in the future do consider donating a cake or two towards this program.
You may never ever know physically who is benefitting from your donation of this cake but spiritually your blessings have reached you.

FOOD BANK SANGOLDA GOA, COLLECTS 60 TONNES OR RATHER 60000 KGS OF GOOD COOKED EXTRA FACTORY FOOD IN THE LAST 11 MONTHS

1.3.25. 7pm IST
FOOD BANK SANGOLDA GOA , collects 60 tonnes or rather 60000 kgs of good Cooked extra factory food in the last 11 months from 9 factories at VernaIndustrial Estate.
This quantity would have been 70 tonnes in 11 months had not one factory of this 9 supported us fully.
Factories & Boilers dept headed by Chief Inspector of Factories Mr Anant Pangam is the one of the main architects, in implementing this massive food Collection reaching our food bank rather reaching the dumps as waste.
Sir Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, Secretary of Factories and Boilers has been the motivation Factor who has supported and given his full attention in getting this project up & running.
Daily, 6 days a week our food bank truck visits 9 Factories in the Verna Industrial Estate between 2.30pm to 4pm collecting warm freshly cooked canteen food which the staff of these 9 factories were not able to consume.
We collect this food in food grade plastic reusable containers and feed the poor in Vasco city rather under the Baina flyover and some food goes to our night meal in our men's shelter homes both in North & South Goa.
It's a operation which runs on precise time management as well as a near fool proof hygiene system with no chance to having any food contamination.
We thank these 9 companies ( or rather 8 companies of late ) for giving away their extra cooked food for a worthy cause.
From April 25 , Sir Sanjit Rodrigues has set a target of 15 companies and 100 tones a year to be given to the food bank resulting in 100 tonnes of wet waste being reduced directly.

ONCE BED RIDDEN & WHEELCHAIR BOUND,  TO NOW WALKING FIT & FINE – ALL WITHIN ONE YEAR.

27.2.25.  7pm IST
Once bed ridden & wheel chair bound,  to now walking fit & fine – all within one year.
Mr Punappa is a middle aged man from Karnataka who while working in Goa on a beach shack in Candolim lost his mobility and was in a situation where he was bed ridden.
Possibility excess of alcohol or substance abuse but was not able to stand let alone walk.
Dr Roshan from Candolim health centre requested us to rehabilitate him but his condition that day as seen in the video was pathetic.
Goa Police issued the NOC to get him admitted into our home.
Arturo Dsouza was deputed with our team to candolim to pick him up.
Physiotherapy, hospital trips , medication, nutrition, motivation etc was the way to get him up and walking.
Takes alot of time and resources as Punappa may be suffering also from some sort of memory losses due to may be his past history.
Otherwise, does the work given to him but still on treatment.
Like Punappa there are 100's of such men & ladies on the streets of Goa looking for a second chance to start life again.
The problem is last 7 to 8 months we are not taking people off the streets as we just can't foot their bills.
Non Goans we have completely stopped taking as they have to go back to their respective states
Because we are not taking, Government hospitals, mental hospital and cities of Goa are having huge no of homeless street people including those with disabilities.
Already like Punappa we have in our homes
40+ men & 20+ ladies who are on way to recovery but it's not happening the way I intended it to happen.
Many times people call us and when we express our inability to oblige them, they take offense and troll us and write nasty things on social media.
It makes no difference to me as I know how difficult it is to care and look after such complicated people.
I feel bad to refuse admission but on the other hand where r the funds ?
SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT &
PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES DEPARTMENT, actually for the full year have not supported our men's home and that's why we are in a big financial crunch.
We will be in the coming week hitting the streets of Panjim followed by a visit to The Hon CM official Bungalow with our resident men who 80% are ethnic Goans and no grants till yet given either by :
Social Welfare Department or
Persons with Disabilities Department.
Women & child Department is providing resources for our women homes after many years of struggle mostly on the streets.
Inflation besides petrol is killing us.
Donations are slowing down due to the inflation rise which our benefactors who may be also feeling the pinch.
Without Government funding it's next to impossible to look after homeless people.
To care & rehabilitate one homeless person who is surely carrying along a huge bag of sickness for a month our costs are nothing less than
Rs 20k to Rs 25k.
☆ Daily we have to provide 3 meals to 175+ residents along with 40+ full time staff.

☆ Our total staff strength is 75.

☆ We have 30 full time lady care givers in our 7 women homes.
It's not a joke, everything in the last 6 months has increased almost 20% .
Schemes are announced in plenty but nothing to our NGO with regards to men.
Small example : Margao city has anywhere between 300 to 500 homeless of which 50 + are our own goans.
We require your help to help young men like Punappa to get a second chance and go back to society.
Your support is what we require.
Summer is around the corner, heat is rising , the old and infirmed on the streets need help.
☆ Our Total bed capacity 250
☆ Currently Occupied 175
☆ Balance 75
But Government has to give us our dues else we can't do much at the moment.

OLYMPIC DREAMS FROM STREET PROVIDENCE GOA IS AIMED AT ENCOURAGING TALENTED GOAN CHILDREN

20.2.25.  8pm IST
OLYMPIC DREAMS from Street Providence Goa is aimed at encouraging talented Goan children who have the potential to reach the Olympics in the future with focus on individual sport.
One form of disabilities is too much of screen time which is slowly cropping up in young children.
Today children are more on screen time and it's time to get them to the ground and arena.
Today young girls are diagnosed with thyroid at early ages.
Young boys are turning mobile mania as too much of screen time.
Outdoor activities are slowly getting pushed away & sports is one way to get children to play , sweat , exercise and be refreshed both at studies and sporting activities.
Goa and Goans are hardly competing at International events especially OLYMPICS & it's time to revive our sporting legacy which once Goans shined in the past.
Children if tapped at a young age and spotted at a young age can be molded into future champions.
In 8 years from now or may be 12 years from now , we can try to get our Goans to compete at the Olympics – possible & achievable hence the project name – OLYMPIC DREAMS.
Where there is a will there is a way.
Everything starts with a seed and I myself have planted a small seed in my 9 year old son about 2 years back by introducing him to Archery.
Due to Sir ZITO who spotted my son talent at his school , today we see a dream of him competing at the OLYMPICS.
Many children either with disabilities or from rural parts of Goa or from economical poorer sections of society etc may be good in sports but no one to support their dream.
We through our project OLYMPIC DREAMS will step in.
If I can do it for my son , i can do it for other children who might not have the opportunity especially those :
▪︎Who are with disabilities
▪︎Who are coming from SC / ST ▪︎communities
▪︎Who are from rural Talukas of Goa &
▪︎Who are economically backward sections
We are looking to help children in individual sports only and we will attempt to provide :
☆ Sports equipment,
☆ Nutrition,
☆ Jerseys & training kits,
☆ Participation at various tournaments by covering the transport & lodging costs
☆ Etc.
Just like we have projects like :
》Shelter homes for people with disabilites,
》Food Banks to feed the poor,
》Physiotherapy units for the homeless,
》Free cake for senior citizens with disabilities,
So also we now have OLYMPIC DREAMS.
Street Providence has recently sponsored a school in rural south Goa for a HOCKEY PROJECT which is the only group sport we are undertaking :
◇ 50 new hockey sticks
◇ 30 new hockey balls
◇ 1 full set of hockey goalkeeper uniform.
With a commitment to back this school up every month through a hockey project being launched on 24th Feb 25 through our Goan OLYMPIAN MrJoaquim Carvalho , former captain of our Indian Hockey team.
Sports and music are two activities which will play a big role in the coming years in avoiding children or teenagers from developing disabilities due to excess screen time.
We require your support to make OLYMPIC DREAMS a reality for children who have the potential but not the resources.
